I like the divots, they just add to the vintage guitar vibe for me. Just muy opinion, but you did a great job!

@@tonetwinstv2863 I have a ‘64 strat, I’ll be in touch with you about a re-fret. It’s been done before (at least once) so it’ll probs be an out from the top job. 👍

In regards to tapping out your fets sideways, I’d cut a fret sized channel into your brace and then tap the fret out through the channel. Should stop the side of the fretboard blowing out with the fret if the fretboard is securely up against the brace

Fabulous work Huw. As ever very impressive. When (🤣🤣🤣) I buy my early 60s Strat you'll be the first choice to work on it.

@@tonetwinstv2863 minor problem... I funny have the talent to qualify to own one and not being a performer any more even less justification.... That is before trying to convince the wife it's £20,000 well invested.

Absolutely fascinating, those epoxy & dust patches looked absolutely incredible once it was all sanded. Brilliant stuff as always. Just be sure not to relic any wire, Huw, people will lose their minds! ;-)

I would love to see this done on a vintage lacquered maple neck. I have a '71 Tele I'm getting ready to tackle and any information or articles on refretting tips for that would be welcome!! Great video.
@pallecla

It is done the same way. Just make sure to really score the lacquer along the frets.

Good video. I never make the notch in the frets, I just use a punch with sharp edges. It has never slipped. I also heat the frets a little, seems to make them easier to start.

Did you sand the board down at all? Or did you leave it as is? I'm assuming you left it as is and you'll level the frets as opposed to the board?
@tonetwinstv2863
@tonetwinstv2863 3 года назад
That's correct. I tidied up any bits of superglue, but I otherwise left the the board unsanded -H
