The faults you point out may not really be an issue with the Amazon Echo Auto, but with your car's Bluetooth connection, or with your cell phones ability to receive a constant stream of Internet data. My own phone occasionally has areas where phone calls drop or that audio stutters. Just because you have the Echo interfaced between these two interfaces, doesn't mean that the Echo Auto is the blame for any issues. Is your cell phone up to date with firmware? What Bluetooth version does your car and phone support? I too have occasional glitches, but it remedies itself right away. This is a very useful tool that helps you keep your eyes on the road while driving.

Thanks for sharing, I wasn't interested at first because I didn't even know they had this echo device for auto. I got to get one now though, I love staying on technology and looking cool anyway! lol

This will get you closer to being as cool as Knight Rider lol. It has been useful for playing music on demand. That's the best feature for me.

I have Echo auto and use it all the time. If there is a connection problem it's always my phone but once I straighten that out it's good once you know how to solve the problem. If you a have a navigation screen it will work with Echo auto showing directions thats if you don't want to use google assistant because Echo is actually faster responding to me ,well on mine it is any way. I think it's very cool to have in the car when when you're alone on the road for long trips and can get info anytime without looking at your phone and if you have Amazon music you could hear any song you love at anytime in a second and to me thats awesome. I got it as soon as it was available and I think I need to buy a back up just in case because this little box does it all in my car for now.

You can rename your device. It’s in the settings portion of the app.

It would be nice if you could rename it to a custom name instead of Echo, Computer, or Alexa.

Although the echo is priced cheap, I am wondering if Amazon is able to make profits from the echo. Perhaps some profits based on the sale of the physical device itself, but the most important thing is that the echo sends data to Amazon which it uses. Any thoughts on what would happen if consumers were given the chance to monetize their own data?

That's an interesting concept. To be honest I never thought of that. I know that Amazon is constantly listening and they do this so they can improve their products. For those that feel unsafe they create the setting to turn that off, but for those that do leave it on, it would be interesting to be able to monetize it.

They suggest that one has Amazon Prime in order to participate in that level of Amazon Music selections. So yeah, they get something out of it. If someone is interested in Echo Auto, they usually have an Echo device at home already. The system encourages one to use Alexa to help shop on their site. Ingenious way to make on shop their system.

Is this more feature packed than using the Amazon Alexa app on your phone? I’ve been using the app to stream Amazon music in my car, via Bluetooth, for free 🎶 🤘🏻

It can hear clearer and faster over super loud music that you have playing which is useful. I even rolled down every single window in my whip, and surprisingly it could even hear my normal speaking voice over the wind without me having to raise my voice at all...i was genuinely surprised by that. It also has location based features such as turning on the smart lights in your home or maybe have your tv on when you walk in or have your garage door open automatically or doors with smartlocks unlock.. (if you dont have smart plugs or at least smart bulbs get them...you will thank me)..and of course, if your forget to turn off, close, or lock any of those things it can do it automatically for you after leaving. And another cool thing, if you didnt have bluetooth and only aux, it would essentially give your car bluetooth capabilities...not for you vut i know tons of people who would love that. The help it does with gps is great, calling is super good and clear and honestly i truly think its better than the app undoubtedly.

Do you need to mount the echo in the air vent or can you place it in the cup holder / center console as long as it’s plugged in and within reach of your voice ?

I have couple of questions. 1: The reason I do not like to play music from my phone in my car, the notification really bothers me. So I use a secondary phone for music. What happens when SMS/Message comes? I believe Alexa bothers you by telling you about it. 2: it depends on WiFi or connects via Bluetooth to my phone? 3: can it work without phone if I have WiFi in my car? 4: what about phone calls from either Bluetooth or AUX?

i recently got this and i would only recommend it if you don’t have an infotainment system my car does everything the echo does but easier for example skipping songs everyone must be quiet for the alexa to hear so it stops conversations whenever asking it a question etc, in my opinion i don’t think i’ll be keeping it but if you don’t have an infotainment system then it definitely is a great buy it’s just a cheaper hands free system!

You can change the name that the device responds too. Go to the settings on your phone app and there’s an option for changing the name.

Juan Camacho no probs. It’s in the device page in the app. Select the echo auto and change the wake word.

Don't see the sence in this contraption.. I just set the assistant to amazon on my phone and it does what the echo Auto does..

Doesn't the Alexa App allow for voice queries, like "ok Google" or "Siri"? I don't see the need to the Echo Auto any longer.

It sure does. It's just like having an Echo dot in your car that you can ask it all the normal questions.

If I play music with my engine off and then start my car, it will temporarily interrupt power to the device. Will this mean my music will continue to play after starting the engine and how long will it take to resume playback?

That will depend on which car you have, Pretty much every car I've owned use to turn my stereo off when cranking the engine but currently driving a e46 BMW and it doesn't effect stereo at all when starting a car, song would keep playing without disruption

I think you would have to play the iPhone music through bluetooth and not the echo. The echo will be for playing music through Amazon music, Spotify, etc.

I want it to be my phone to automatically linked to my car stereo system as soon I as open the car door. All my text,calls and navigation are working by itself. In my case, it’s the CarPlay.

It does great for calls. It uses the cell network from your phone.

@@InsanityRenn your phone will automatically connect through Bluetooth. It uses your phones data plan so if you're streaming music you need a decent amount of data available. I use about 300mb of data a day playing music for a few hours

@@mdluk199 Cheers for the reply. Its weird because i literally just got one today. Only issue im having is when i make a call people can hear themself. If i turn the volume down to a point there is no echo for them, im struggling to hear them when doing 70.

Alluvian All my devices are named 'Echo'. It is much quicker to say 'Echo' than 'Alexa'. Two syllables rather than three.

I was a little disappointed in this device. My husband sometimes forget to take his phone. And for those times when I am out and my family can not contact me through my phone. It is good to know that they can always do a “drop-in” through the echo dot that is in our cars. This is something the echo auto can not do. No matter where you are outside of your home you can always drop-in on a “echo dot” that’s in your vehicle from any Alexa device in your home. Other than that my phone can do everything else that this little device can. Why waste the money?

If you ask to navigate to a location, it will launch Google maps and start navigation from phone or head unit.

If the car doesn't have bluetooth then the sound comes out of the alexa device. Not as good but it still works.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
