We used to bully idiots like Oxhorn for defending retcons, poor writing and simplified mechanics in Fo4. Now there’s an army of ‘fans’ who clap like seals at the shows surface level references and sperg out at any criticism of it. Fo1 - FNV had very creative ideas for their world building from a ghoul city like Necropolis , ground zero of a nuclear explosion, Long 15 / Dry Wells / Couriers Mile, and a supermutants sanctuary like Jacobs town. The most the show can muster up is a supermarket converted to an organ harvesting operation. The shows just wearing the fallout series like a skin suit, just feeding Fo4 fans a few ‘member berries to keep them engaged as they push subversive Marxist politics. If you want a game that explores the rebuilding of a post - post apocalypse with pretty great gameplay, try Wasteland 3. Liberty Buchanan may annoy some people but you do get to kill her so it evens out for me. The sound track, art design, and diversity of combat encounters are also pretty excellent.

i wachted this show on the high seas ofcourse cuz f these corpos, and at first i seemed to like it was good amazing production and everything just looked amazing but the more i watched the more i realised there is no story in this series stuff just happens, although i did not get much wokeness from this series but its prob cause its more subtle than other series and movies, also they never explain the world map like the factions Ncr, ceasars leagion, new vegas witch is what makes fallout most intresting to me the only one that is shown is the brotherhood of steel and some mention of enclave. i always think that with franchises like this they should take the game of thrones approach s1-4 where it actually feels like things happen off screen.

That aside, if you actually know and appreciate the lore of the entire series, the show is an absolute catastrophe that breaks lore even for all of Bethesda's own Fallout games - even '76! The tone is all over the place, plot-holes and logic problems abound everywhere, it even contradicts itself in the same scene a few times. And that dialogue! Just amazing, at times it is as though it was written by a lonely teenager who has never been allowed to interact with other humans in their lives. The show is a dumpsterfire of epic proportions, that just happens to be pretty to look at most of the time. The positive reception by normies is shocking, honestly. Did you play the first 2 games? Honestly, I was a bit concerned to when I watched it, but I thought it was about on par with FO3. It's a TV show so it's going to be different than the games by nature, but it really wasn't that bad. I can think of a few part that would stick out as "woke" but I'd really chalk that up to bad writing and trying to exploit "the time were in". So I really can't fault that. They were true to the source material for the most part (Fallout doesn't even really know WHAT a ghoul is, so I'm not faulting them for that). I didn't want to like it going in, I'm a cynical fan starting with FO3 and then playing all of them, but it really didn't give me much to complain about that FO4 didn't already.

Or if you're looking for something less apocalypse but still in that vein, there's Shadowrun and XCOM. Sorry if those aren't new suggestions, it's just what came to mind.
I never played nor watched Fallout, but from this review it sounds like it's a cliché that's more concerned with getting the iconography right rather than being a good adaptation.
Yeah, it's a mess. I've loved the series for a while now. Truth is, the show lost its way since Fallout 4 (arguably since Fallout 3) and this is just the most recent chunk of coal to fall out of Bethesda's stocking.
Major problem with our society is we just things off of the experience of others. Why not try a game or watch the show, then draw your own conclusions rather than hating something because someone else does?

I've known Sam's youtube channel (and his previous channel) for years now, so I got a pretty good idea of how reliable and trustworthy he is. I also know he would never lie to his audience in favor of chasing an algorithm or promoting some stupid gacha game that he would never want to play himself. I don't have gamepass nor do I plan on getting it. Maybe I will play a fallout game in the future but right now I'm not interested.

This show, while far from perfect, has close to zero social justice messaging. Unless we're counting a black and female lead, or the fact that a non binary character exists as a glorified extra as woke. And very few of them are in line with the original definition which is, "an awareness of racial prejudice and discrimination." Yeah you literally have zero understanding of the Fallout universe from its inception in 1997. Basically the USA and China were the only nations left standing (as everyone else was effectively debilitated by severe food, energy, & raw material shortages). The USA didn't much care as the Administration were mostly Enclave members who were happy to fan the flames. A few major corporations greedily snatched up the remaining scraps, making billions on top of billions while hiding technology that could hurt their bottom line in the short term. They rarely bothered looking at improving efficiency either. Many of our common techs weren't invented or weren't widespread-- vacuum tubes dominated over transistors, ICE cars were all massive gas guzzlers, they never bothered to extract natural gas or invent new methods to find oil, they used so much radioactive material in everything that RadX and Radaway were medicine cabinet drugs, and the USA forcefully annexed Canada to sure up its supply of firewood. Further, the USA/Enclave had signed off on human experimentation and were happily developing horrors like FEV (which could make various chimeras, gigantic green super-mutants, and had a high failure rate killing its test subjects). Anyone who tried unionizing or protesting was rounded up and shot by nigh-invincible Power Armored soldiers. The American Dream was dead, buried, dug up, and was now feeding the glowing fungus used to light the Enclave's bunkers due to all the issues they happily created and reveled in. China was little better. We know basically nothing about them aside from that they were the pre-war's Communist adversary, were regularly spying on the USA, was working on stealth tech at many levels, invaded and occupied Alaska (to get enough oil to last them a few years), and may well have shot first to start the Great War (at least according to the NORAD logs). The Enclave still wanted more revenge which suggests that something of China survived the Great War, or the Enclave was using lies for marketing or as an excuse (but weren't shy about admitting to basically anything else evil). So basically this whole thing is a critique of cronyism. In the case of the TV show, Vault-Tec sough out and bought everything to do with the invention of cold fusion and hid it because the energy it produced could defuse the US-China war and thus threaten its vault-building program, all the wealth it accumulated for its executives etc, and that loss of revenue would probably cause a major crisis that resulted in Vault-Tec's bankruptcy/failure as a company. That was hardly the only tech it did that with. The USA had invented (hot) fusion but refused to share that with the world. The USA had bounties of fissile material but the rest of the world was left dark The USA had the last known natural sources of oil but wouldn't share. The USA was finally developing synthetics but again unwilling to share. They had PV panels and various battery types but again refused to share. It literally didn't matter that America and the entire world was intentionally being massacred as long as the Enclave & Vault-Tec were rich and powerful beyond their wildest dreams.

Video sounds like you watched the show prejudiced. First of all please let's drop that WOKE argument as your video contained zero examples of it being woke. Fallout was kinda political from the start with all "old world" critiques Second, you missed the entire main plot of the series and focused on bombs. It was in fact side plot as it had lesser amount of screen time. And this was necessery as games were dropping hints that the first bomb were dropped by Vault-tec before, so it is in fact major lore building plot (and no, there's no direct confirmation that vault-tec in fact dropped the bombs first. they were theorizing). Fallout was never about world after the bomb. World after the bomb is the setting and every game's plotline was some story from the perspective of a protagonist. You're mixing world building with main plotline. The main plot couldn't have been clearer as we have three main characters wanting to aquire scientist's head. So the main drive is the head. All characters want to get the head for different reasons, therefore there are side stories as said bombs, vault 4. Also the character building side stories like whole brotherhood setting, vaults 31-33 insights, pre-war memories of Howard. It adds not only to show's storyline but the lore too. And please, do not forget the show isn't over, there are gonna be another seasons, so we can't perceive the story as finished. Btw. antagonists are Margrave, environment (including people living in it, as in every fallout to date), Cooper Howard (to Lucy, for the most part of the show, and Maximus). Different perspectives of different protagonists called for different antagonists. And my question out of curiosity - how old are you to not watch Indiana Jones to know what's maximus walking out of the fridge a reference to? The theme of people surviving bombs in a fridge is just a timeless classic

This show is far from the "woke" propaganda, that the isolated fanboys claim it to be. Fallout is a lot like the original Star Trek. It was in fact a commentary on the state of society, (though they went with an optimistic hopeful route) and featured an interracial kiss on television for the first time. Now most new Star Trek, while it's just thematically not my thing, still gets called out by the same crowd for being too "woke" when Star Trek, much like Fallout, has been a socio-political commentary from the start. it takes a not insignificant amount of learned prejudice and hate, to only be capable of enjoying the surface themes of a show, while completely ignoring the deeper themes and messages. Different era, same ignorant people.
