This is our complete ship tour of Ambassador Ambience. We sailed onboard in April 2023 nearly a year after Ambience was launched. We have covered all public areas of the ship in detail including entertainment venues and restaurants. We have put together this tour in the hopes of it being useful and we hope it gives you a clear indication of what amenities Ambassador Cruise Line has to offer.

Ambassador is Britains newest cruise line and we took the opportunity to sail with them in April 2023.Ambassador market themselves as Britain’s premium value no-fly cruise line who sail from 8 regional UK ports. Ambassador Ambience sailed around the British Isles and we were onboard for 11 nights. Ambassador Cruise Line currently has two ships in operation Ambience and Ambition.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.
We have created a list of our cruise essentials. These are items we take with us when we travel and we hope they may be useful to you. We have also added a Wine list which contains some of the wines we have tried whilst cruising.

Good video. We have just spent 17 days on Ambience and couldnt fault it. It is an old ship, but that just adds to its charm. Embarkation was so easy, from getting off the coach to sitting on deck with a drink was under 15 minutes. EVERY single member of staff we met was polite and efficient. The ship is kept spotlessly clean and all the food was amazing. The shows in the palladium were top class and the entertainment crew worked their socks off. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise and found it superb value for money. We will definitely cruise with Ambassador again!!

Thank you for your really informative videos. We’ve taken 16 cruises on 5 cruise lines and I needed helpful reviews to decide whether to travel on a new cruise line. You’ve really helped my decision making, we have children so booked on a multigenerational next year. Our kids won’t join kids clubs and I think the old style cruising and craft club options will suit us. Always good to try new things. Thanks again.

Hey Tom and Dom. I saled from Brisbane to the south pacific on the Ambience when it was P&O's Pacific Dawn. I have been on alot of biger and new ships over the past 12 years. but the Dawn/Ambience is definetly my favorite. So glad that it was saved from scrap. I am organising a trip to the UK just so I can go on this beautiful lady again.

We cruised on this Ship many times when it was the Pacific Dawn. We loved it although it was showing its age back then. It looks like it has been given a much needed face lift and looks good other than the colour scheme 😀

Amazing to see how little she has changed from when she was Pacific Dawn. The Palladium has not changed at all. Same carpet and same fabric on seats. The MDR Buckingham hasn’t changed either. The rest of the ship has had a new coat of paint and a name change here and there. She looks good for an old girl. Smooth seas and happy sailing, lads.

A very interesting tour of the ship, I've seen and heard not very good reviews on this cruise line. However, your video shows that it looks clean fresh if a little dated in layout. Maybe worth looking at taking a trip on her.

Great video, you certainly got around the ship. It looks a good deal tidier than when I was on board shortly after launch. I had a problem with the length of the bed, I am only a little over 6ft tall but my feet were over the end. Are either of you tall enough to notice that? They are not King or Queen size as on other ships. We thought the ents team were excellent and the food very good. The tender boat captains needed a refresher course though! 😆

Nice video of Ambassador Cruise Line. It's nice that it has a place to do laundry. Just because it might be an older ship doesn't mean it isn't nice. Some of the specialty restaurants probably would not go to. Has a table tennis table which is good. Has an area in the center of the ship which basically is a public area. Casino is rather small. They probably don't have a craps table. Some of the food areas look interesting. Since you took a cruise on this ship, do t hey have breakfast in the MDR or only at the buffett?

I think the problem with some of the reviews is you get these cruisers who have been one one of these super cruise ship with evrerything on so when they come on an older ship like this they complain. people need to know not everyone wants a massive ship with 6000 people onboard they want that nostalgia feeling of being on a ship that looks like a ship and cruise lines like ambassador and fred olsen are just like that

Absolutely! We loved that there was no gimmicks. We went for a traditional cruise experience. Did you know this ship had a water slide and an aqua park in a previous life.

Love the gym is open 7-10.. Love an early treadmill session…so many cruise ships the gym doesn’t open till 9 or later… Seems to be for older people……and not very energetic or things to do other than,quizzes, theatre or books! 👍🇬🇧

The early gym opening was a nice touch! 😀 Although neither of used it 😂 Demographic was older than ourselves. They did have daily exercises, walks and dance classes for those that were interested!

Ship looks to be a well thought out and good place to travl .. but I don't like fixed evening meal times. My most recent cruises were with P&O and Norweigian, both ships we had freestyle dining, and normally go for 7-7.30pm. Perhaps the buffet has the answer, but it would be a shame to miss the main dining room meal options.

Thanks for your comment! We defo prefer anytime dining however it was nice to experience the traditional cruise dining experience! The buffet was always open for evening meals and we were impressed with the quality and options that were available. 😀

I'm wondering how much the laundry cost. Do they provide soap or should we bring our own? And is it the same price for the washers and dryers? I'm going on the ship at the end of July going up to Norway looking forward to it now thanks so much.

Hi thanks for your question. It costs £3 for a wash and then £3 to dry. The machines take £1 coins only and you exchange notes at reception. You can also buy washing powder onboard, we bought some tabs from home! 😀 You will have an amazing time! Enjoy it! 😀

Yes there was Bingo in the Purple Turtle. On our cruise eyes down was 5pm. Not sure about board game selection as we didn’t spot many. There was a board game challenge on the daily programme though

Hi there We have never been on cruise before we are a young 58 year old well 57 tbh lol. Can you tell us . What sort of clothing can you wear. I'm a tshirt jeans man and our lass is similar we tend to go smart casual. If we go to eat and go to disco would that be acceptable? We are going Norway in August on the ambassador cruise ship. Where both really excited but nervous. Just worried about what to wear ect. Also can u tell where to go visit whilst off the ship .if you have some suggestions that would be very much appreciated. Thanks for the question. On Ambassador jeans are fine in the Buffet area but in the Main Dining Room jeans wouldn’t be the norm for the evening meal. All other times of the day they would be fine. Some chinos and a collared shirt would be fine though. I’ve never been on a cruise before and always wanted to do one and this could be a solution.

A very interesting video thank you for reviewing Ambassador, in my opinion this is a cruise line that is not going to last long, why?, they are using very old ships, they are bucking the UK cruise market trend of less formal nights, freedom dining and paying gratuities. The majority of UK cruise travelers wants less formal nights, they want to choose when they will dine (why not!) and most definitely do not want to pay gratuities so why does this cruise line want to adhere to this out of date business practice. It worries me that this cruise line can cancel a cruise AFTER the passengers have boarded, telling them "sorry your cruise has been cancelled but it's ok you can you can stay onboard tonight but you have to be off the ship by 09:30 tomorrow" I am a personal travel consultant and even after this fair review, I would not under any circumstances recommend this cruise line to my customers, especially when you can advise your customers to travel on the P&O Iona or Arvia to name a few.

Hi thanks for your comment. We were pleasantly surprised by how many passengers onboard had previously cruised on Ambience, some up to 4 times and the cruise line has only been in operation for a year. Even though lines are moving to more resort style ships with less formal nights and any time dining there still seems to be a demand for traditional cruises. The Christmas cruise cancellation was not great, but it was not the first time a cruise has had to be cancelled. Fortunately, this type of incident is rare. We recently cruised on Arvia and we personally had fewer issues on Ambience, given, it was here Arvia maiden voyage. I suppose no cruise line is perfect. However, I strongly believe that the more cruise lines that are available is better for consumers.
