CPC and PLA should cross the middle more often to tell Taiwan DPP that there is no Real Middle Line , and there will be No Middle Line in the Future...
These two people live in their own world, which is in la la land. On Gaza issue at least, Chinese position is supported by global south which probably constitute two third of the world. China is not supporting Hamas terrorist activities, what China want is for both warring parties to cease fire and go back to diplomacy. That is sensible demand, unlike what the US want, to let Israel having out of jail free card to commit genocide.
In western countries large majorities of people support a ceasefire too. Its the governments that are scared of offending the US. You will never hear Kevin make even an implicit criticism of US policy because Australia lives in fear of the US too.
I cannot believe Mr Rudd’s analysis is such shallow and superficial even so he claimed he could read Chinese. He does not have independent views, and very biased. Could he turn back to analyze Australian previous extreme right wing governments. Ask why current Australian left-wing government is so easy to visit China and pleased the Chinese government? Without understanding his government, how do you know Chinese affairs? Also, he should stand in front of mirror, look himself, now and 10 years ago, how much he has changed during this period?
what do you expect ? he is the ambassador to the US, surely he will give sweet talk to US. He is saying what the US want to hear. But he don't realized that this has effect on China. And China is NOT the bad guy here. In fact China is the hero (sort of) that while rising up China has helped other nations thru' BRI project around the world. Many nations have benefited from BRI. When you are talking bad things about a good guy that is doing good things around the world then it is not good, as a human being. You just lost some integrity value.
Looking back the changes in Chinese millitary activities and buildup, you find that most changes occured when the US increase its actitivities or some provocative change of policies, such as Nancy Pelosi visit to Taiwan, weapon sales to Taiwan and AUKUS. Chinese do best in trading with the world. Any millitary conflict would harm Chinese core interests. The US is the more aggressive side and China is more defensive. As the US publically defines China as the greatese enemy, China just have to grow its millitary capabilities to protect itself. The Chinese navy started fast expansion only after the US started “pivot to Aisa" by moving 60% of its navy force around China.
In due respect to the commentator and Kevin Rudd, you cannot expect Chinese government to have dialogue with a government that cannot keep promise or continue disrespecting Chinese’s core concern. If US continue sending military aircrafts and ships with Allies to China’s doorstep, dialogue not helping the situation. The question is to US why? I found it puzzling
Obviously when China stops it's disruptive military rhetoric and activity towards ASEAN region nations and walks back their unethical claims to Taiwan, then you'll see US escalation.
Hey Kevin, here in the States, our economic system is not the be all that ends all....inequality out of the wazooo, real wages for the average American still stuck in the 1970s, social security going bankrupt in a few years, 60 millions peeps with no health insurance, no national health care, the majority of peeps living paycheck to paychecks, unprecedented homelessness, incarceration, early deaths from despair, drug addiction and alcoholism whilst the Billionaire class the likes of Trump pays less than 500 dollars/year in taxes...and oh, btw the CCP meanwhile uplifted 800 millions out of poverty, dealt with the property bubble and kept the billionaire class in check....What say you muerfuer....
haha...what a load of self-saving narratives from 19:00 onwards...It is the Australian political leaders and enterprises who were eager to visit and made the visit to China and not the other way around...🤭🤭
I am glad that the new government wise up and made a positive move toward China though. I mean, geographically, Australia is located far from China as well as the traditional centers of global power. Why it agreed to align with others against China baffles me. It simply does not benefit Australia at all. Australia relies on trade and tourism to thrive. It's a very unwise move to be on negative terms with China. Besides, why would China have any interest in Australia other than trading!?! @@muchachopicaron
One thing is sure, China do want to have better relationship with Australia after few years of icy one, for economic reason. Australia also want businesses with China to return, especially when the world is heading to recession in 2024. I suspect that the UK is wanting the same when they chose David Cameron as new foreign secretary. They, including the US, need China to stave off incoming recession. That's why they have this Biden-Xi meeting. The only one who didn't get the message is the pretty boy in chief in Ottawa. Then again, the pretty boy is probably on his last leg, and uncle sam's hand is up his arse telling him what to speak.
The correct interpretation about China's economic policy should be, China will be more open compared to previously. Will have more cooperation with outside economy. But considering about the western economy is seeking for decoupling/de-risking (whatever you name it), China will enhance it's internal economy incentives to continue it's economy growth, but more open cooperation with international communities will still be the main approach. We are in the new era for human being as a whole, so many challenges are there, cooperations in all perspectives is something essential rather than optional.
That's a gullible take. Surprised anyone would take the Chinese government's words at face value considering the many recent examples of duplicitousness.
Mr. Ambassador should suffice. Ambassador Rudd obviously cannot be as candid as he was before he once again joined the Aussie government. One obvious example to illustrate this is when Kevin lists economic challenges of the Chinese economy he neglects to include the tariffs, sanctions and other economic warfare measures of the USA.
What a surprise that they didn't get around to considering how China might be responding to the US $10 billion worth of weapons now being considered as a gift to boost Taiwan's army.
fyi, that $10 bn worth of weapons is equal to surplus 1980's equipment @ balloon price tag, like tanks, guns, bow and arrows... Look at what US had been sending to Ukraine. Reason Ukraine is loosing.
This conversation is quite glaring with regards to the changing views of KR about China and his accommodations of the US led western narratives about China.
The real issue which needs to be explained is what has made the Chinese Communist Party to push back against prominent sectors of private economy. It seems that the potential of the private sector's potential to convert its economic power into support for policies which would further expand the private sector in ways that would still not really improve the income and consumption of workers and employees. The urgency to address this issue is emphasized by the inability of economic growth to increase polulation growth, in fact population going down, a major failure of the Opening Up Model of Development. Xi Jing Ping wants to arrest any debate on these policy issues wanting to impose his own diktat without worrying about its implications.
Yellen said her purpose was to make sure the two nations do not engage in “unintended escalatory actions that will be harmful to our overall economic relationship with one another.” For instance, just days before Yellen's visit, Beijing slapped export curbs on chipmaking metals and compounds.
Yep. Kevin sounds very knowledgeable but actually knows very little ! His PhD puts him up with the likes of Condoleezza Rice and other such so called "experts" who are only able to echo each other's second hand or third hand information. No new insights nor fresh perspectives. Same old echo chambers. 😢
china didnt do any change in data policies UNTIL USA forced Taiwan to oass it all the chip making data and production numbers and key clients from Mainland China so that America could drill down on operational data of chinese companies and FORMULATE SANCTIONS for the chinese industries to strangle them. These data were highly sensitive for chinese competitiveness.
Very correct remarks from Kevin, however a possible conflict between USA and China is not going to be direct, but through alliances with waring parties as it happened with WW1 and WW2, I am referring to the Austro-Hungarian empire attack to Serbia for WW1 and the German attack to Poland for WW2.
For the most part Kevin provided a one-sided Western viewpoint and not a balanced analytical discussion. He sounded more like a politician this time around.
Today, April 2024, China PRC GDP is 5.8% compare to the rest of the Western World... Even Russia is doing great. No State Nation on this plant we call Earth ever keep their GDP continues double digit nor China ever said they can.
Youth unemployment? Are there any youth in your family or living around you? If yes, are these youth working or unemployed (doing nothing productive) or still studying in college?
Every time I hear Rudd speak I wish he was our Prime minister especially while having to suffer through the knuckle draggers we have had since him. He speaks with such a clarity you don't see in politics usually. The fact that Albo is smart enough to get Rudd working for him is some consolation but it doesn't reduce my disillusionment with the average calibre of those in government.
Armerica to survive,, just needs some competitor? Somewhere? They do have,, natural disasters preparedness. Food and water security,,globally for one human nation concept. E.g. wild fires flash floods etc,, how to lesson the disasters and reduce deaths is key to one human creed and survival against wild forces of nature etc etc!
United States. The United States boasts both the world's biggest national debt in terms of dollar amount and its largest economy, which resolves to a debt-to GDP ratio of approximately 128.13%.
We should never waiver to defend our values of Freedom, Democracy, Rights of Individual, Freedom of Press, Free Speech and never compromise with those who do not agree with these values.
What country are you talking about?. Try free speech now in the west and see where that gets you. RT banned. Democracy and values is all a joke in the global south as we see the western double standards. Example look at Ukraine and Israel Gaza conflict. Putin under ICC arrest warrant yet more civilians have died recently in Gaza than 2 years of Ukraine Russia conflict. Tune in to non western media to get what 90% of the world population thinks. China get a ticket and go and see for yourself you will have the shock of your life
🐰☕🍰 Xi is a very well respected world leader In China and the world. China is in good hands. The🎉China Government is taking over the world in peace making and economic making. As for Biden ... , the Biden Regime is falling apart under the attack of Donald Trump. Harris Ng YM AMEN 🌹🐰🍷👍🇨🇳💰🇷🇺. 👎🇺🇸
Such a political driven dialogue. How can you not bring in Ukraine and Gaza into the geopolitical equation!! Major changes in the US Government positions due to Ukraine and ME.
Rudd has found his calling preaching to rudderless sycophants feeding off his verbose. His lovely voice and hollow words just hoard up what little capacity they have to gain any perspective or real understanding.
