Mister Stürtzer, i'm into Ambiant music and generative sound installations (using breath rate sensing now in my research) and i've been teaching electroacoustics (Max) your aesthetic really touches me. Keep that good super inspiring mood, and thanks. Martin
Steve Horne mentioned Delta-V granular plugin, in the chat. That's Delta-V Spacecraft, which used to be only for tablet (iOS...), but it was released, last year I think. Traktion have it for sale. It's a great call. I didn't realise they had ported it. But, from what I can remember, it was very cheap, and I think I remember the developer saying deliberately so, when it was App only. The plugin is around $99, which is a little bit disappointing, when the app was an absolute bargain gem. Especially when the UX was so great on tablet. Still, would be great to integrate it into the DAW.
So I think Delta-V SpaceCraft is a very interesting tool. The program is particularly useful for spherical, experimental music thanks to its intuitive user structure.
Thanks for sharing your process, Martin! What I found fascinating is that you got to a very cool track with only a few elements! I really struggle with this, and then complain that my pieces sound muddy. Of course they do!!!! Less truly is More!
Been enjoying this synth! One word of advice. Don’t judge it by its “meh” presets! Make your own sounds, seriously that’s the way to get great sounds out of it!
Just got Novum as a Black Friday deal, and presets sound great to me! Maybe it is just my untrained ear (I am fairly new to ambient). Looking forward to playing with it more!
If you continue like this, we will no longer be able to find words of praise for your work, that's a big problem :-) Like a journey into deep space and finally CONTACT at 34.45
and the CPU load on Martin's PC is only about 20%..that's a good argument, which speaks for Novum. It's normal that such special tools are always very CPU hungry, the better you want the sound quality in live operation.
Well the Iridium is my only hardware synth that can do granular synthesis. The engines are much different and both (Iridium and Novum) have features that the other one cannot do. The interface of Novum is unique and the samples that come with it are great for ambient sounds.
Wie bewertest du Novum nach einem Jahr? Ich habe bereits Rapid, ich weiß nicht ob es sich für Ambient Musik besser eignet. Wie gefällt dir das Instrument bis jetzt? Gruß
A little distortion happening at times. Either the LFO filtering, HPF, or some various resonances at around 6k hertz. Thought you should know. ; ) Overall, sounds very nice. Enjoyed seeing your little friend stop by, and get a brushing. Never a bad time to be in harmony along with the animals. ; )
Loving all of this, inspirational jam. How do you live record drones with infinite sustain in Ableton without having to edit the loop start/stop? Seems to me you cannot record an infinite sustain with just the Push in a live improvisation as it will always note-off/note-on when the clip loops.
some time back, he said in an interview with loopop that he does very little with the mac, his hardware usually does all the work and the mac is just for sequencing and recording or six instances of Novum in this video
@@Jason75913 thanks. I have been pondering the mini and the Mac studio for my home studio Just wondering if folks are standing by their initial raves over the mini and Mac studio computers. Haven't seen many 'a few months later' reviews.
Yeah, it's a great piece of software. I got it recently for the initial price before it climbs to its standard price. So far on my old PC, I haven't seen it eat up space the same way the Vital VST will consume it.
I am really surprised how low the CPU load is. I can easily destroy my system with a few voices of Omnisphere or other Granular synths but this one seems to be to so hungry.
