If one disagrees with Mr. Nugent politically, it's important to be able to keep that separate and still admire him for what he has contributed to rock and roll! I certainly do.
Yeah, but most of these guys, (2 keyboard players?) were there in the mid-late 60's when having long hair and playing in a r+r band cost you a lot of shit man. Ted, being the egomaniac he is still should've given the singer, etc. a few more seconds on this stage. Just like he ruined HIS great success after TED NUGENT and Free for All, Cat scratch fever....Rob Grange and Derik ST. Holmes made tED great and he let them go cause, "Their is only one alpha male and that is me." Quote verbatim. But hey, I am a big fan too and I appreciate this. Just sad Ole tEd, sorry, sloppy ted could not have been a bit more generous with his old buds. BTW I love Call of the Wild and TF+Claw, His best period as a guitarist in my humble opinion. I saw him transform in 75 from standing in 1 spot opening for Aerosmith, (I was there to see Ted's band. Hey Baby, Stranglehold and all of that.) and 3 months later he was running all over the stage, hogging the songs. But at one point Ted left the stage and we did not know.?. Because Rob Grange is and was one of the greatest bassists rock and roll has ever heard and he soloed so F849ing great.....,"Oh, it's not Ted. Wow." Amazing 60 -90 second fill in. Glad I saw him then. To all of the musician's that were enhanced by ted and put up with ted....peace out. Hibernation!
These are most of the original members...Show respect...The great Andy Solomon and John Drake on stage here.....yeah its years later.....so what...they rock...STU
I have always been a Ted Nugent fan since I heard him live in 1970. I play jazz now and I still dig Ted and the Dukes. He is certifiably insane now but I still like his music. He is a great guitar player and the early Amboy Dukes stuff was creative and unique.
Yeah. It's so Insane to hunt, own guns, and call out the corrupt government and Marxist grifters like China Joe, Hillary, and Barry sortero. C'mon man.
For all you bitching about Ted's politics, so fucking what? We Righties have to listen to all the liberal bullshit from these musicians. So, one Rightwinger comes along and it's the end of the world? But you know what, it's the music that matters most!
I saw Ted back in the 70s and the energy he had was amazing! Stranglehold and Cat Scratch Fever were blazing on the FM stations, KMET and KLOS in my area, and the concert was a sonic assault on your senses! My mind was blown! Rock On Ted!🎉
Dig that my man. I'm 47 yrs. old and have been to alot of concerts through the years. I've seen Ted 4 times, 3 times alone and once with the Damn Yankees and I don't know if I've ever seen any better on a guitar live than Nugent. He rocks the house and shakes the building.
As a teen I felt the Amboy Dukes were the best garage band around so a big smile comes to my face seeing Ted back on stage with Rick, Andy, John & Steve. Love the video!
It was good to see John Drake again. When him and Ted Played the Mummp @Northland all summer of 67(give or take a year)I was there. This was before thier albums. It was too bad the band broke up.I remember thier outside concerts, one @ a mall by 14 and I-75,the other in front of the Det. library(I think it was a library)on Woodward. Those were the days.
I grew up watching the Amboy Dukes play this on the Robin Seymour show from Detroit. Seen them in 1969 on the steps of the Detroit library a free WABX concert. Love Detroit !!!
Ted’s Mastery of Tone,Speed and Clean technical skill is un-matched. The crazy Riffs -Bends,Feed back, Slides that he comes up with is unparalleled. His Early Amboy Dukes stuff was hands down above 95% of the bands from the late 1960s
Like a fine wine .... Uncle Ted has indeed gotten better with age ..... go see him live and you too will testify! At 61 (this December), he wipes the floor with his so called contemporaries ......
Wow, what a performance by the 'Dukes! Why this was not a chart topper is beyond belief. Great riff by Ted and what about John Drake...beyond cool. Thanks for posting.
TRUE STORY: Grew up 5 houses from David Palmer, original drummer for the Amboy Dukes. They rehearsed in David's garage on Gilchrist St. My 1st garage band.
@@HeadlyWesterfield thats still wild though to be that near. only 2 people i can think of that my family was close to is that my dad went to school with fred durst in gastonia, nc and my grandmother was friends with eustace conway from that show mountain men lol not much of a story on my end lol did you ever see the MC5 back in the day?
@@JLKDOOM I moved equipment on- & off-stage at the Grande Ballroom. I probably saw the MC5 more than any other band in my life ('cepting those I managed), second only to The Who. I saw almost every band that played The Grande.
AT 3:05 Terrible Ted pays his Garage Band??? THE' ULTIMATE TRIBUTE!!! "I have 2 people on stage playing--F..King Amazing"!!! Ted was referring to Organist Soloman and Rick Lober jamming, and not the rest of the Amboy Dukes. Bon Scott dressed as a chick in their cOoL version of 'Baby Please Don''t Go! Maybe Singer John Drake should have dressed up like Patti Smith and put the Nuge in his Place--hahaha
@gtfoudbs Plus, Ted's a good enough guy to come play the Detroit Music Awards with a group of guys who couldn't be any further removed from fame, The Amboy Dukes...basically a one hit wonder who quickly fell into obscurity... I don't know about you, but I don't see Justin Timberlake heading back to do an NSYNC reunion with those lackeys or David Byrne calling up the Talking Heads for a reunion...Nuge actually cares to take care of his old band mates. Shows character
You are 100 % right....John Sauter is a good friend of mine we live in the same town,he is a great guy and GREAT bassist..........I remember when John played with Nugent , it was not for long though ,Nugent was a prick to his band........wow it is a small world !!!!!!!!!!
The Amboy Dukes House was on the east side of Middlebelt Road between Five and Six Mile Roads. I delivered the Detroit News. Loved watching the party hijinks, broken bottles and squeals of delight from the WAVES of women present!
Yes, Steve Farmer was the guy on the left side of stage with the purple guitar. Ted was kidding him about the coat during the show. Thanks for the comments
This is the CADILLAC MAN FROM DETROIT!!!! You should have seen them LIVE at the Grande Ball Room in the good ole Daz. I was so lucky to have meet Ted in Flordia. And Back stage at the Grande. Face 2 face Ted is as real of a person as could even wish to meet. Music he gives 1,ooo% To TED all the way Man!!!!
I am always amazed that TED can make room for anyone else on the stage. There was a time when he was capable of making some really great music. That seemed to end when he parted ways with Andy Soloman. He was fun to watch in 1970. Now Not so much!
Great seeing the mostly original band. I give Ted his due as a guitarist even though I don't care for his extreme far right politics. Back in the day I was against John Wayne's politics but loved his movies. Appreciate the art.
The last time I saw Ted Nugent was what was billed as a "battle of the band" between The Amboy dukes & Mahogany Rush @ the Alan Park Civic Arena in 1974.
The guy is sixty. It is wild to hear him say who his influences were. I think you are right. He plugs in and says " Here it is raw and powerful!" He does not want keyboards in his music, so that is how it goes...:) I think Double Live Gonzo was one of the best live albums ever done.
Great post!!!! I agree with uncledeercamp, we were there cheering on our bass player Bill White & was hoping someone could post the tunes...any of the others available (journey 2 cent of mind etc)?? Once again, you made it actually sound better (cleaner) than live...BRAVO!!!
@TwinPeakin Some of us enjoy the knuckle dragging stuff. Do you think AC/DC would have enjoyed such a successful career if they did the Spinal Tap 'hope you enjoy our new direction' BS?? Sorry, but some of us aren't as progressive as you. I am going on 50 and just saw Ted this last Saturday. He still has the same passion and love for Rock and Roll he always did-and it is a GENUINE love of ROCK!! At 62 years old to boot. And judging from his attitude he doesn't care what ANYONE thinks!!
Dan you fuckin' rock ! I was there...way up in the balcony and the sound sucked. My girlfriend got this also with her Blackberry, I was gonna post it but no need to now...great quality. Muchos gracias !
@TwinPeakin LOOK AT TEDS LICKS WITH THE DUKES AND THEN WATCH THE REUNION VIDEO....THIS ONE....YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING- TO SAY THAT HE HAS NOT GOTTEN BETTER OVER THE YEARS....AND ADDED MORE TO HIS SUPERB PLAYING SKILLS!!! I AM A PLAYER...AND I AM A FAN OF HIS TALENT.. TED WAS 19 WHEN HE WAS THE DUKES...ARE YOU KIDDING.?..HE IS NOW 60...HE IS NOT A HYPOCRITE..AT LEAST HE STANDS UP FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES IN...IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM FINE...BUT GIVE THE GUY HIS DUE!!!!
You want to see an ALPHA in action boys and girls?? He does not care!!! He knows that no one can touch him, he knows that our rights are disappearing, he knows a man has to dsaty what he believes-- If he is this good- maybe, just maybe, I say, maybe he hsas some logic since his talent is "Logical"
