I wonder if the 6.0 mm version of this 4K 30 FPS camera would be a better choice for capturing moving license plates.

Thank you for the review. I bought this camera and one thing I don't like is that at the bottom between the cam and the housing there is an opening where bugs can get inside where the cables go. Has this been an issue with your cam? Worried about wasp nesting in the cam.

I've never had any problems with wasp nesting inside the camera. However it maybe be possible because of the hole it has to allow for the cable. You could probably use a bit of white caulk to fill that in so it wouldn't be a problem.

I was looking to get 6 or 7 of these cameras, are you still happy? How about motion notification, are they non-stop or reasonable. Thanks! 😎 BTW nice looking lawn, in Florida it's all fescue.

Sorry didn't see you comment before I try to respond to . Yes I'm still happy I'm planning on buying more myself. Thanks for the compliment on the lawn I work hard to keep it up. Here in Kansas City I use mostly Tall Fescue with the Kentucky Bluegrass mixed in.

I like having a fixed zoom camera looking down the street and in places where cars come to a stop so I can see plate numbers and inside the cars. In large more open areas I like IR flood lights mounted next to or near cameras so you can see much longer ranges. Can you give my any info on a nice POE, PTZ auto tracing camera? I would like one that has at least 20X and long range IR lighting.

I don't have personal experience with PTZ zoom cams but I am looking to get one. some of them of very big and I didn't want that huge thing hanging on the side of my house. This guy shows a numbers of options for PTZ zoom cameras ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5MoynorQ3y0.html&ab_channel=TheHookUp

@@jpulley Have you ever used IR flood lights? I like them because you can point them right at houses and streets with no one ever being aware it's kinda cool. You go outside and it's pitch black but on your CCTV screen absolutely everything is lit up like daytime. Thanks for the info.

@@largelarry2126 I've never used them but I've looked at some. So far I haven't really had a situation where I needed more ir light.

How is the ethernet wire hidden. Through the attic?
@jpulley
@jpulley 4 года назад
In this case the wire is running from my basement through my garage along the wall then through wall directly to the camera.

Thanks.. I'm curious if we can read moving license plates using the "30 fps" feature because that is my number one complaint with my Annke system, in 4K it drops down to 8 fps! Meaning there's no way I can read license plates moving at approx. 15 mph from 100'+ away like I need to considering I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building with one large garage.

100ft away while moving is probably too much for this camera even in 4k. If you wanted to keep an eye on a particular parking spot you could get a PTZ camera that's point, tilt, zoom. They cost most but there is an optical zoom that will allow actually moves glass lenses back in forth in the camera to zoom in. You could easily zoom in 100ft. It will be costly but it will get the job done. check this one out its night-vision works for up to 328ft. amcrest.com/outdoor-4-megapixel-poe-ptz-ir-speed-dome-ip66-weatherproof-remote-360-field-of-view-4mp-2592x1520-ip4m-1053e-white.html

Do you need a base station for this camera or can you connect it to a computer/server and store the footage directly?
@jpulley
@jpulley 3 года назад
You can connect it to a server through the network. I use blue iris software on my server. You also can also just use the SD card inside of the camera body and access the footage as long as the camera has network access.

It says the camera is ONVIF compliant.... ONVIF means it will operate with a pc or 3rd party software
