@@gaffarkhan8440 The compass was invented in China during the Han dynasty between the 2nd century BC and 1st century AD where it was called the "south-governor"(sīnán 司南) or "South Pointing Fish" (指南魚). The magnetic compass was not, at first, used for navigation, but for geomancy and fortune-telling by the Chinese.
As a retired Canadian trained in "investigative problem solution" activities in business, management, finance & IT, I observed that China has within 40 years outperformed the best efforts of G7 nations in providing exceptional development improvement over a relatively short period of time... The question for us in the West is.. WHY have we been so inept in managing our societies?. They moved from a primarily agrarian society to a technological giant surpassing us in innovation and speed of development in 40 years, solving problems that have handicapped us for decades. Most of their population have used our educational facilities to improve their population's level of technological knowledge and are now proceeding to lead us in many of the areas we previously held the advantage.
@andrethorpe6183 The answers I can give you are ...US is now a plutocracy where the rich controls everything ( think Blackrock, Vanguard, Monsanto, big pharmas, Military Industrial Complex, National Rifle Association, etc ), corrupt politicians and a disunited government ( Democrats and Republicans) busy bickering over petty issues.
If you can't beat them, just knee capped them. That is the true American ethos. All I can say is thankyou, USA!. It is the biggest motivation to the Chinese people to innovate harder.
@@danhtran6401FYI China landed a rover on the near side of the moon in 2013, the far side 2019 and Mars in May 2021.... They are the only country to have landed a rover on the dark side of the moon...

I think there're another 2 things which have potential to reach the list: 1. China's reusable suborbital plane could revolutionise future civil aviation & transportations, by reaching anywhere in the world within 1 hour. 2. EV battery giant CATL has already made batteries for fully-electric planes. So with or without plasma engines, we could still have "green" planes.
no need for any of that when anti-gravity tech already exists. Very fast speeds achieved warping of space, have to do with superconductors and rotation creating some form of magnetic field that goes against gravity and able to not feel any acceleration or G's. There are papers published in academics proving this theory and also Patents for this tech. So far skunkworks from Lockheed martin have built many anti gravity aircrafts for the USAF and pentagon. Very secretive but sorry to say that China has no chance at the current moment. US are LIGHT years ahead assuming china has no idea of this tech existing.
@@michaelchoi5247 Easy, Choi. A team of Roswell Greys are already on it in Area 51 as we speak. Anti-gravity? Nice! Have they managed to crack hypersonic missiles yet as Kim jong un did years ago? First warp of missiles, then warp of space, yeah?

Sorry it wasn't CN's intention to make the US look bad. CN and Chinese in general really admired the US and really looked up to the US/Americans, and thought CN's strategic intention was misunderstood. After more than 10 years of trying to explain and showing good faith, CN finally accepted that the US simply wants to send CN/Chinese back to the stone age, the malice is undeniable. You'll encounter lots of angry/hurtful words from Chinese on the internet nowadays, but I think they are mostly reactions to hurtful actions/propagandas targeting at China/Chinese, Chinese are pissed off by the bullying (of course the US is busy painting China as the bully using proxies and its powerful propaganda machines). Despite ppl's anger towards the US gov, Americans or any other kind of foreigners in China are still treated kindly and warmly accepted.
And I believe China don’t have to do pretty much at curbing US. US is doing a good job at that. The mounting homelessness, drugs, gun violence is eroding the society from within. The dominance of the few big boys in ‘free market’ context, doesn’t contribute to the average person’s GDP, income, wealth. The ever growing debt US owed, and that countries are gradually realising and started dumping US debts is creating a slow and definitive demise of USD. The finance industry will take a big hit in time to come. The only thing that US can claim dominance will be military. And that explains why it’s always involve in wars across the globe. But with China’s growing military and modernisation of the hardware, parity might come sooner than later.
It is unfortunate for us in the West that we have not learnt the art of civilized co-existence, cooperation needed to achieve mutually beneficial objectives.... It is perhaps the weakness of the nature of mankind that we have continuously failed every step of evolution (12,500 year cycle) to needed to achieve the higher realm of consciousness that would bring peace & harmony to the Earth.
US had lost it as US corporations are busy rewarding shareholders rather than plough back profits for R&D. The predatory capitalism in US is killing US's innovation.
Speaking of air pollution problems, China has made significant improvement over the past ten years by applying new green technologies. These days most city busses and cabs are electric which were major polluters before, especially those with diesel engines. In China among the things impressing me the most is the application of new inventions to make daily life better and more convenient. But here in America which is leading new inventions in the world. you don't feel much improvement of quality of daily life. Of course, Wall Street has harvested windfall and political propaganda machines have become much more sophisticated, especially during election season thanks to new inventions.
Another crucial point is that in the STEM fields China has around 8 times as many graduates per year as the US has. So China has a fast growing crowd of people who will contribute to scientific innovations in the coming years, while the US has only a fraction of this. Numbers for EU are about the same as for US. So even if you count all the US vassal countries like EU and occupied part of Korea and occupied Japan as US resources, China is still several times bigger in amount of researchers in the coming decade. Numbers are based on the German Statistical Institute "Statista". If you google "stem graduate numbers" you'll instantly find the Statista graphics. They are also the bases for all western articles to this topic, although they always try to twist it into some negative story of a "China threat" and such braindead Red Scare nonsense.
You have NO idea what US technology they have been working on for the past several decades, they already have matured the progression of anti-gravity and have aircraft utilizing this and then some. All in the sake of being ahead of everyone else but in secret. China also always import resources and cannot sustain itself without the trades of other nations and cannot be completely independent. I will give you that China has done some good for this world, but to say that they are the leaders of inventing everything that is modern is ignorance at best.
Totally agree....back in the cold war, soviet union graduated more engineers and graduates with basic science degrees... consequently, soviet tech were very innovative and creative.
Recently, China has invented a drone that can attack autonomously even if the signal is cut off, and it is mass-produced. It also has remote charging technology. As long as it flies in the atmosphere, it can fly indefinitely until the drone flies by itself, so my perception The United States not only lags behind China in drones, but also lags behind China in many fields such as communications, electric and new energy. China's long-term plan can support China to keep doing one thing until it succeeds.
It is indeed true that China does lead in technologies and that's according to the Australian Strategy and Policy Institute recent report comparing both countries. China leads in 37 out of 44 foundattional technologies that will decide the future. Anyone can google and confirmed.
To be able to lift poverty and be number two in the world (or number one depend on the method of calculation), China must have done something right, whatever it is.
work a lot, cheat on the international financial system, transfer technology and create its own product in order not to depend on importation for survival
still china is more then 4 times the US population. its just bad they are still behind with that many ppl. ofc they will be "nr 1" with that number. when they are 5 times the US gdp then you can talk.
China is also steadily developing hyperloop technologies. An experimental hyperloop train in China has completed its first test runs, according to a report by the South China Morning Post published earlier this year. These consisted of three test runs at a superconducting maglev test line in Datong, Shanxi province that reached speeds of 31 miles/h (50 km per hour). While this was a baby step but a speed of reaching 1000km/hr was the goal Note: the hyperloop train in China was powered by superconducting maglev technology. The one (a pod really) that was tested in the US was rocket-powered. The US is already one generation behind China even in the research stage!
China surpasses the United States in many fields of science and technology. For example: infrastructure capacity is the world's number one, and electric vehicles are the world's number one in sales. China is also number one in the world in shipbuilding. AI is now the second largest in the world, second only to the US.
Exactly. Those are the reasons why the United States is sanctioning China. Not because of the threat to national security but jealousy and fear of China's progress.
Largest shipbuilding nations based on gross tonnage 2022 China, South Korea, and Japan were the leading shipbuilding nations in 2022. China completed ships with a combined gross tonnage of around 36.7 million.
These articles saying China can't innovate are stupid. They are analyzing it like China was on par with them, they had to realize of where China was and where it was coming from, they forgot that China only had started their industrial revolution in the late 70s while everybody else had it more than a century ago. When it opened up in the late 70s, China still had to go go through the stages of acquiring and using these technologies, then graduate to copying/reverse engineering before they learn enough to innovate. China had undergone this but after only less than 40 years, China is already the leading edge of new technology - AI, 5G/6G, photovoltaics, EV, quantum computing, fusion technology, etc.
China's industrialization was initiated by Mao Zedong in 1949 and laid a solid foundation for 30 years of industrialization efforts. This is the internal reason why China's industrialization can take off in the last 40 years.
One tech that might not be world first but is truly remarkable is the autonomous driving system developed by Huawei for Avatr 11 EV cars. I've seen videos testing the car in crowded streets in downtown Guangzhou, and it could track not only all cars and trucks, but also all pedestrians, all bicycles, and all motorcycles around it (they are modelled and shown on the screen of the car), and makes decisions in advance accordingly. Potentially hazardous objects (be it pedestrians or bikes, etc.) are marked in red and the car slows down and gives way if necessary. They called it NCA (Navigation Cruise Assist) and it truly drives like a seasoned human driver.
When Batteries COST get below a certain price ........... Electric Shipping WILL become the Norm. Imagine the "Maintenance" cost of Traditional ICE ships.
The one that get me is the China rocket to space that not need rocket Fuel now and build the dam in Himalayas what will be the biggest in the world and railway to Pakistan when you come to China from Pakistan the pulse is over 5000 metre and you come down to the desert and so many thing China build it amazing we all no Huawei is the biggest company in the world really
Thorium Reactor.....first trialed in the u.s but abandoned due to budget constraint in the 60s I think. China now is implementing small scale Thorium reactor trial in the Gobi desert:)
not budget im lead to believe..... but due to the western desire to use the alternative to thorium to create weapons ... thorium didnt have any benefit towards weapons or weapons of war i cant remember the videos i watched on youtube, essentially there was 2 paths, the US saw and chose the path that gave them more benefits or supremacy in war.... theres either a polish or russian or ukrainian youtuber that talks sciencey stuff cant remwmber his name
I dont think it was budget nor lack of knowhow. It is mostly stem from not being destructive enough during the cold war like Uranium, so it wasnt a priority.
@@Tabula_Rasa1 nah, US politicians would not do anything that long term or short enough to help their careers. They prefer to do things that would further their longevity, power and position.
The US and other abandoned molten salt thorium reactors for a number of reasons. But the technical one was because they could not overcome the corrosion problems. China's engineers appear to have cracked it. Uranium reactors are easier to get fission and control. They also produce plutonium which builds cheap bombs.
When you cant run fast enough to compete , the only thing you can do is throwing shoes, spitting, cursing , thats the only way to distract your opponent and slow him down. Yes its ugly and uncivilized but it may work in a game where there is no referee or you can legally kill or shut up all referees
Initial, but when the society became more educated, it has surpassed US in almost every thing. China phase is so fast, it has far surpass in technology more than 10 years advancement any other countries
The problem with America is that Americans are proud of the election they organise but look at the outcome...not going to be better the next time .. its Trump vs Biden maybe... 😂😂😂
What China has accomplished is pretty impressive indeed and it shows competition is healthy and good for consumers. Case in point, while Ehang was ahead a few years back, the innovation today seems to be coming from Joby in the US and probably those companies in the US wouldn't be so innovative without previous Evtol leaders such as Ehang. US should learn to accept competition as it also improves the outcome for them. We still haven't seen a strong reply from China on ChatGpt or the flying jetpacks of gravity industries. And we haven't seen a strong response from US on wechat until Elon Musk gives it a try with his X platform. Which shows that both sides can still learn from each other and try to emulate and improve each other's successes.
Before the rise of China, the United States has been promoting international cooperation in scientific and industrial innovations and international trade and division of labor. But the US made a U-turn when China started to overtake the US in many fields. Now the US becomes the master of trade war and sanctions.
Don't worry with our trains built in the 70's. Our dams from the 60's. And our military technology from the 80's. China can't match us 🤣🤣 Worst case scenario we will block them from Facebook and RU-vid and Twitch. It's so sad it hurts.
Great video Trip. Do you mind doing a video on the flood situation in China? I saw a lot of propaganda on twitter against China but now these people are quiet now due to the wild fire in Maui.
That was a once in 140yr catastrophe. We here in NJ also got hurricane sandy, where so many trees fell down that you drive one block and find u have to turn around try another way and still get blocked. And we didn't have electric for 1 month.
The Americans' attitude toward China's progress and innovations is like the ostrich which hides its head in the sand when it sees a hunter. (In this case, China is the hunter.) All right America, keep your head in the sand! It is super satisfying to not be able to see the hunter.
Another marvellous post Trip. I think of China as tremendously exciting place and would love to visit it someday. Unfortunately I live in the UK and we are most certainly not on the friendly list. My opinion of China is that they are a fare minded people and government and I applaud their calm and measured attitude especially considering the way the UK government speaks to them. The collective west should take note of China and learn some bloody manners.
the air purifier is also a good middle step to actual carbon capture from air, most of them suffer from the fact that it is extremely tricky and going from nothing to working cc is simply too costly and nets little to no result. with a useful middle step, it can be developed and used for gradual advancement.
You missed out the Thorium molten salt nuclear reactors. The Chinese are now able to become totally energy self sufficient for the next 100,000 years! These reactors don’t need water, can provide energy in the desert, doesn’t need water and can even get rid of nuclear waste! Also which is the most innovative Chinese company? Hint, it’s not Huawei
US .. COPIED much of England/Europe technology ( Stream Engine, Electricity, etc ) in the 1850 till 1950. Then Innovate to become dominant in PC chip .
@12:47 - and have a look at the "Nature Index" and "Leiden Ranking" for the physical sciences /engineering/maths/computing. Must look further down the list for MIT and Harvard (surprised ?).
Ya, before that, make a video about US aging population, UK aging population, heck, whole of Europe aging population. Japan's aging population. When you have done that, then do China's. Are you that desperate to find something to hat you can use to say " China is in trouble"?
I hope that my councillors eventually find this site, they are stuck in a nineteenth century love affair with trams. Especially the trackless trains after they screwed around with traffic for decades. The sea planes would be an amazing addition to border and sea monitoring at a tenth of the proposed costs.
the most interesting innovation is ai. in the future, we may no longer need a human spouse, we can just order an ai spouse and a happy marriage ever after.🤣🤣🤣 love from canada.
Yes, they did say that about Japan and than did everything in their power to stop Japan's rise. This time they have less direct control, so it is harder to stop China.
The Americans baseball bat the Japanese... now the Japs are walking one legged and following the boss... no choice.. America tried the same with the Chinese.. did not work well... baseball bat broke . 😊
I feel like china really invests in its biggest resource, its own people vs the u.s where the population is basically just seen as a tax base and not a resource worth investing in... unless you're already rich of course
Housing in China is unaffordable and Beijing attempts to fix it have failed ... strange !because they are so superior in everything... I am trying to express by this the fact that you admire Chinese "innovations" as the African tribes admired the "fancy objects" brought by the Europeans in 1860. Yes fantasy, nothing essential (a screwdriver a counter geiger, an electronic scale, a watch, an energy-intensive battery-powered blood pressure tester, etc...only fantasy) and drones, cameras...only irreparable fantasy when it breaks down.
The problem with rapid advances in robotics and AI is that very soon millions and millions of human workers will not be needed. Go ahead and celebrate China's advances ..... American corporations and the American stock market are doing the same here in the US ..... but no one today knows what will happen to the millions and millions of human workers, who will lose their jobs to robotics and AI. Pundits on CNBC's stock market television shows gloss over the coming problem by saying: "oh, every advance in technology has always created new jobs", but robotics and AI are a fundamental new advancement never before seen or experienced in human history ......i.e., the total replacement of a human worker in almost all human industry. China has already replaced news announcers on television with AI generated announcers. Very soon, entire industries will be able to replace their human workers. China is racing forward at an ever increasing pace with technology and AI ..... what will it do with its unemployed people?
Half of the innovations you show here are not technical innovations, but innovations that are forbidden by lawmakers and lawyers in the West. When it takes 22 years to build an electric high voltage line, the lawyers need 20 years and the workers 2 years. Who earns more money?
This tube-air-filter looks like the modern version of such tubes which were used in Arabia over a thousand years ago to cool cities (and got a bit forgotten there until recently reused for that purpose).
"Virtual tram" In Paris, there is an underground line running on tires similar to cars. In summer they don't know how to get out of the heat from the tubes because friction losses are so high. As I see, your technical knowledge is not very high.
