✵ America's Largest Counties
✵ Counties, American administrative or political subdivisions that divide states up into more local boundaries. There are over 3,000 counties in the country, with each state dividing up in different ways based on their history and size. I find counties very interesting because of the freedom given to each state government towards how they want to treat them and how they were created. States like Louisiana or Alaska still technically don’t have counties, instead using either parishes or boroughs, and then states like Virginia have each major citiy designated as independent from their counties, working as their own separate government. Anyways today I thought it would be fun to go over the countries largest counties, talking a bit about them and why theyre so big. Now because each state had so much freedom over this, certain states chose to create larger counties, especially out west where it was less densely populated at the point that they were dividing their counties, so all 10 of the counties we’ll cover today are located west of the Mississippi, and the top 7 are all located within 3 states, which I think just shows how interesting counties really are.
