To anyone who wants to learn North American accent, watch videos on mastering the sound of t, th, and r. These three sounds can make a world of a difference to your accent. I am saying this from own experience. Good luck!

○○ American Accent Rule ○○ For letter "T" "T" becomes "d" when it falls between two vowels. i.e : Water = Wa_d_er Computer = Compu_d_er Better = Be_dd_er Hope you got it.

I have got 114 in TOEFL. Most of the exams are designed based on the country you give the exam from. Think about people from other countries where even English is not even used. Secondly I understand getting the accent would be great but I think it just a wrong impression of us of any American. Think about Americans trying to mimic Indian accent. It would sound racist for them. Same way we may sound “trying to be cool” to them.

These are some good beginner tips, but definitely not enough to change somebody’s accent. I taught accent neutralization and American accent coaching in India and there are many other sounds that are difficult for Indian mother tongue influence. It takes lots of practice with a native English speaker to really improve your accent. Indian English and American English are almost 2 different languages. I had to learn to speak Indian English in India. 😃 Neither one is better than the other, but it is important to know the distinctions.

Good video. Here are our tips for professional communication skills: 1) Speak slowly and clearly 2) Improve your pronunciation 3) Stay with formal English 4) Read books or magazines slowly, clearly and loudly 5) Find or create 2000 sentences that you will need in conversations, read them aloud several times and memorize them 6) Copy/imitate only those who speak English well with useful contents. (e.g. professors, CEOs, TV hosts...) What not to do: Do not copy slang, impolite expressions, street English, etc. because it may slip out in formal conversations and would be embarrassing. (However, you may want to learn to understand some common informal expressions, just in case someone on the street uses them).

I'm an 11 year old and my only tips are- 1)To sing and try to understand English pop songs. Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish for an instance. I can also sing good in the American accent cause of the songs. 2) The pronunciation is main and also ya need to understand words like "imma", "Mk", "ain't" and others. 3) Last but not the least, practice! It of course isn't easy being a non-native speaker to sound like a native one. Lol I've been practicing for 2 years and now finally I can talk without any problem

Some American's can't really understand our indian accent.. I've faced that before. So getting an accent becomes necessary Also you don't really need an accent for TOEFL or IELTS.

Indian accent is a different accent and English speaking Indian also would have difficulty in changing accent while those who change would speak native language like foreigners.I've seen this in practical life.This accent can be only learned easily during childhood but as the tongue gets used to local accent and laguages it's difficult to change.

Btw there is nothing wrong with a a true Indian accent let alone any middle Eastern accent. It’s what makes you who you are and as long as people understand you that’s good enough. Don’t change who you are. You guy’s are awesome and don’t let the western world change you, other than being a little more open minded. And please do not follow what Americans or British pronunciation is: because No one cares about “proper pronunciation is” be yourself and be happy because we open minded people do not pronounce words like Americans or British people. You are Beautiful the way you are!
