I like your dogs and you have the humbleness and the desire to learn. Those attributes and time will make you a great dogman. Keep it up these bulldogs need dogmen like you !
I like this video... the the best explanation so far... i just got a scott bulldog mixed with american pitbull... his dad was the bulldog, was a very good looking boy...
Yes paper work isn't all that there is to making a good bulldog. Each dog brings something special and when paired with another sound individual dog a new line could begin. Your doing a good job man! The haters will hate of course and the naysayers, well they always say nay. You just keep saying yes to your vision and it will manifest itself. So Mote It Be!
I love videos like this not particularly the topic of this video but we get to see your dogs just being there not doing anything particular that way it's easier for the viewer to experience the dogs in a way. Thank you. I really enjoyed all the footage of your male dog. I like hearing the heavy breathing, makes it visceral.
I have an American bulldog Johnson named KAINE and his daughter KAZEE THEY ARE AWESOME DOGS they play all around my grandkids 2-11 year old kids and the male is 100 plus lbs female is about 75 lbs. my family love them and they r loyal, listen, and obey. I worked with them since they were 4 weeks old so they know what is what and when I say the word it’s ON.
Just adopted our first standard AB… She’s about 70lbs… I’ve done a lot of research prior to adopting her and I fully agree with you, standard is the way to go… 70-80lb dog in my opinion on average is gonna have a longer healthier more active life than a dog that’s bred for bulk…
This was helpful info regarding the changes about the types. I have a female that I called Scott Type... now I know she's to be referred as Standard type.
Truly appreciate your honesty and your integrity and the straightforward way that you’re putting it out there , I too have these dogs and plan on breeding . best line of your video is you have to have a bulldog mentality felt like you and myself do others well you know God bless you brother beautiful pups you’ve got great dogs
He is in great condition. So many Johnson’s I’ve seen are either FAT or have an excessive amount of bulk on them, purely for the aesthetic, of looking like a beef cake…which puts stress on the hips and joints. Some have very short punched in looking snouts which is horrendous for breathing issues. I have two, a nine year old boy, and a 12 week old girl, both are hybrids, a mix between the scot & Johnson.
He's definitely a beautiful dog! I think it's great you wanna give these dogs jobs around the farm, he seems anxious about getting to those pigs. I find my dogs are calmer and happier when they have lots of small tasks to accomplish around the yard or house. Even just 10-15 minutes on the spring or flirt pole helps calm them down.
Seventy five pounds of fit well muscled dog is plenty! I believe your right their has been a lot of crossing between scott/Johnson type dogs & I think that may be a good thing. For some the Scott standard type is a little light & for others the Johnson bully type can be a little to big.. Hybrids are a great way to get the best of both. I love your dogs they for me at least are great bulldogs that are healthy and fit for purpose. A pedigree never caught a hog! Best wishes for you & your dogs.
Good on you buddy pappers don't mean shit i been breeding bulls for 40 years and the best dogs are the ones i breed for by crossing different lines and types to get a dog to do what i want it to do not what paper tells it to do so i always outcross between different bull breeds to make heavier or lighter shorter or tall dogs but the dogs perform better and have no health problems
Thank you for sharing your Journey with us. Following your Journey all the way from Auckland New Zealand 🇳🇿 I also have an American Bulldog, but I'm trying to find what type he is.
Nice hounds!!! I can definitely see the working American Pit Bull Terrier in them. It's not up close, but it's in there. I need a hog setup like that.....we're on 50acs and I should have been done it.
Yes good info about the homeowners insurance; many may not know that. Some cities in ohio have bans or strick licensing and list the pitbull terrier, amstaff terrier, boxers, and American Bulldog , which I believe is because they dont know anything or enough about the difference between the dogs.
He ranges between 85lbs in winter too 80lbs in summer I'm in New England. So he needs a little extra in winter. He's out doors alot. It gets cold up here
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels The pallets would have been much easier but we had to have a 8 foot fence to keep them from getting out!! They were very dangerous dogs and we couldn’t take any chance of them getting out !!
I've got a brown and white standard AB. He's a Scott. He's a great farm dog. I have a horse farm. He has no interest in chasing horses cats deer bunny's. We live in bear and coyote County. He chases any bear or coyote to the point I haven't seen a bear or coyote on my land in 10yrs. His name is Carter. We call him Bubba mostly Carter when he's naughty. He's great with kids. He's a very secure solid non nervous dog. I rescued him from a guy who wanted to fight him when he was 9mo old. He's 12 now but you'd never know it. He's a solid guardian farm dog that wants too cuddle and chase tennis balls when he's not protecting the farm.
He is a handful sometimes he's willful. But I don't have too raise my voice. He's a 85lb lap dog with will and attitude. American bulldogs are intuitive intelligent protective. I've owned pitbull s . Great dogs but too much prey drive. They love too chase lol not good on a horse farm. American bulldogs are guardians. They will put themselves in harms way for you. They will not chase or kill anything they don't see as a threat. There confidence is what makes them solid.
They add them for the drive and aggression and I agree, that dog already exists. I don’t want or need APBT in my blood. If I wanted a dog that acted that way I’d go by a APBT.
Lovely dogs pal you boy s same weight as mine brindle and weight like your puppy however mine has pitbull on top % super dog before anyone starts with the mutt bullshit i don't give a monkeys because I've some dog and he's a sweetheart with it personally i believe I've the best of both breeds very agile very powerful with it and hell work for days good stuff pal %%
I can afford it and choose not to. Don’t mean for that to sound rude but that’s not my direction. And no dog is worth what they ask for in my humble opinion. I’ve heard the prices are on up there
Warren County, TN between Nashville and Chattanooga. $750 for next litter. NKC registered, planned breeding at the end of the month, first of next month.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels Great please keep me posted. My name is KarVan Powell. I'm in Louisiana. Send me a friend request on Facebook if you're on Facebook
The standard is kind of seem in like you described the cross breeding over the years is been all over the place what you have though is two different TYPES So you have a Johnson type And you have a Scott type I personally prefer the ones with the longer muscles
I currently do not offer shipping but it is something I am looking into. No available puppies right now but we have a planned breeding in the Spring time next year. Thanks for tuning and and commenting. If I can help you out just let me know . 👍🏻
That dog is very similar too my boy Bubba aka Carter aka the house. There just rock solid. He has no interest in chasing cats or horses or cattle. He looks too intercept and turn back what's Makin the stock run and deteriing it from coming back. I live in bear coyote and Bob cat country. I haven't seen a predator on my farm in 10yrs. He's 12 now. I got him when he was 9mo old. He was at a pitbull farm. His future was in the fight pit. I hate that shit. American bulldogs are not pitbulls. They are more like a compact mastiff. There not vicious they regulate. There supremely self confident. They don't bark alot. They protect There ppl and land. They are definitely a presence. They make ppl and animals think twice. There cuddlers. Your kids will never be safer. My horses love Bubba. He just looks at them like he looks at my truck lol
Well some people refer to dogs as hybrid but in the NKC they only have two standards. That’s the standard and the bully. They typically fit one or the other. Some don’t agree with that but I just went to Mr. Scott’s yard yesterday and if I didn’t know any better I would consider some of his dogs Johnson or Bully. Look up Baptist Deacon of A.S. On pedigree database. Mr scott produced him but he looks Johnson Type to me.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels The internet has sped the world up! I remember reading about the Legends mostly in books! I hope you make it to that status!!!
Nice dogs. I like all american bulldogs. The ones directly from Johnson though seem so out of shape and lack stamina. Plus 3k-3500 a dog is too much for the low stamina. I've seen some heavy Johnson dogs way back that had decent stamina and wind but that seems to have been bred out of them. Ironically, the current ones from Johnson directly seem to be the worst examples of the breed. Even full Johnson's should move better than theirs do. Your mix looks ideal. Stamina with working prey drive but enough size also.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels i have dogs AM Staff that wht i have..and wehn someone wana buy a dog if the first thing that he ask is do u have pedigre for ur dogs i send him 2 someone who have show dogs i dont breed show dogs i use my dogs for protection and hog hunt thats it ...cuse in my country Bosnia we dont have french ring and stuff like that only show for dogs... my dogs have a purpose...and yes i contact so called master i left u a coment on video wehre u chalnege him ...man is crazy just jump over his coments...wish u all the best from BOSNIA Europ
Yes indeed but the owners need to be more responsible and show their dogs in good light. The general public doesn’t need to see what some folks show. I’m not saying they shouldn’t do those types of things because those are really drivey dogs and they need that release but the average person will never agree.
Tell me about it......I have to agree, we do need more responsible bulldog owners. But more than that, people really should pick the dog to fit their lifestyle more closely. I mean don't get a real working game bred bulldog and you have no intention or interest in working the dog. You mess up the dog and the public's perception of your game bred working conversation piece. Most working game bred bulldogs don't do well at the dog park or in Lowe's or Home Depot or the local pet store. By you making it a pet and never working it, the bulldogs instinct, prey drive, fight drive, & gameness never turns off, it's only controlled to a certain level. Then the first opportunity the dog gets loose and the neighbors cat or dog or horse or cow or goat pays the price for your irresponsibility. Now, you think the bulldog is crazy......nope not by a Longshot....just needs to WORK and release that energy and drive, so it can have a healthy balance. Nothing is wrong with saying....my lifestyle really doesn't suit that type of dog, but I sure do admire them and would love to responsibly own one, but I better rescue this pound mix instead.
But to answer your question, yes I do believe black dogs are American Bulldogs because they were allowed to to register the dogs and open about how they were bred and it was accepted.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels I watched the documentary here on RU-vid so I know & accept it personally. I just wanted to see your take on the matter. I do understand temperament , health & conformation is key.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels If you are showcasing your dog's, but you have a shitty camera angle, then you're not really doing them any good. Just saying
@@nicolasavila2714 - the purpose of this video is not to showcase the dog and make it look better than it is with fancy camera angles. It’s so I didn’t have to look in the camera while going over this topic. I’d rather the camera be on the dogs. Damn shame you didn’t realize what the video was about 🤦🏻♂️. If you don’t have anything nice to say keep it moving my friend. Good luck in your career of critiquing amateur RU-vidrs 👍🏻
Ive always thought “mutts” are the best dogs, and i think its from not being inbred... your doing basically exactly what i would prefer... get a proper dog, proper bloodline, and get twho that you know arent inbred... i almost guarentee after a generation or two, the “dominate” traits you created will show...
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels not just a heavier dog but a bigger dog a bigger dog is visually more intimidating The best watchdog I ever had was a 60 pound dog named Barney( pit bull ), brindle bull with a black face, A dog that would quietly show you his teeth, and was fierce But you get that occasional fool that would have to walk up on him and that usually caused a problem Had another dog you weighed 110 pounds he was a pitbull / bulldog cross And no one would go near that dog because east were scared to death he was going to break loose So as a result he never got no trouble
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels i’d love that dog with the white head He was built like my dog Bernie and had that same drive Reminds me a lot of my old dog he died about 30 years ago Same kind of drive though , built the same to That’s a beautiful dog you have there anybody shame you on that dog doesn’t know anything about dogs That boy is a specimen If you ever breed him to a bigger female let me know
To be honest both of my white females are bigger than him lol, he’s got some pups that he produced that are about 9 months old. The males are between 70-80lbs right now. We have a planned breeding the end of the month first of next month if everything goes well. The list for people wanting a dog out of that litter is a decent size for me but some people will inevitably drop off I’m sure. It would be Neyland x Monroe. If you email at prideofthesouthlandkennels@outlook.com I could share some pics.
Neyland is solid and somewhat compact for an American Bulldog. Also hard to tell a dogs size from a video too. He’s small though, he’s by far the smallest male I’ve seen.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels Mine is about 23 inches at the shoulders. Tbh I don’t mind his size as he’s more manageable and in all honesty more likely to live longer.
Neyland is just shy of 23 inches last time I measured him. He’s definitely outside of the standard as far as height and weight go but I rather have the smaller dogs all day.
Paperwork doesn’t make the dog but it’s a damn good thing to have for yourself once you know the breedings are accurate. I could care less what you think about your dogs or my dogs bud. A lot of people think paperwork means they have a good dog and 90% of the time the pedigrees are inaccurate. Get a life my friend.
@@prideofthesouthlandkennels Sorry but Judges and Registries don't make the dogs my friend. People and their Breeders do. Remember that my friend!🇺🇸✝️🤣
