Thanks to @thunderjaw_foodie_ajmer on Instagram and Brooke's friends Dad for all the delicious recommendations for this round of snacks from #India! The only thing we definitely did not like were those mints :) - other than that the tastes if India continue to impress!
The mint you tried is a very very Indian thing, its called "paan" needs an acquired palate. You ate it right, its just not the taste you are accustomed to. Also, it should be made fresh, any "paan" which is kept in a box can not do justice to the real thing, and the person making it makes personalized for each customer. So, no worries... keep trying more snacks there are still a ton more.
My friend is a fan of these.....I don't hate it..... but If it's the only option, I'll take it......btw we have the similar drink called "Lahori Jira".
The mints which u didn't like is actually supposed to be a betel leaf stuffed with lotsa digestives (sweet ones too sometimes ) and is a highly acquired taste..not everyone's cup of tea...hence understandable...youve just scratched the surface in terms of the variety that's available in Indian snacks and munchies...there's TONS more...
Jeera is hindi for Cumin. There are many people in India as well who have no liking for those jeera drinks. The last one that you ate was 'Paan' which is betel leaf and other spices and you didn't eat it wrong, its an acquired taste, not something that everyone likes in the first instance. It's a mouth freshener, hence the strong taste and smell, not meant for everyone.😆😆 Also Pista is hindi for Pistachios not the short form😅😅
Jeera or cumin is cooling - which is why we in India appreciate it as it helps to be cool in the hot climate. It is also a micronutrient with medicinal properties- jeera is helpful to ward off acidity & flatulence
Ya bro jeera(cumin) drink is not for everyone, I dont like it either but many people do . My favorite drink would be Maaza. If you find Maaza please try it next time if you haven't yet
All the drinks, please drink it chilled (except tea 😁)... Jeera flavoured drink is kinda of digestive type of drink that's why it taste weird..., Amul cardamom drink is kinda of milkshake drink... All tastes best when chilled. Rusk thing dip it in tea for 4, 5 sec for nice taste. And please camera madam & the big guy in the next taste test...
Next video we want you to try our traditional 50+ year old running products & companies- 1) 'Bru' with Chicory mix (Instant coffee) 2) Haldirams Brand - (Any sweets or savoury) 3) Britannia - '50-50' Biscuit, 'Milk Bikies' Biscuit , 'Marie' Biscuit 4) Haldirams Brand - 'Bhel Puri' 5) Peanut Brittle 6) Kulfi - many flavoured ice cream (trust me it's the real deal, available in small cups and cones) Thanks guys !
The Maggie would be more good...if you have boiled all the water. Maggie is kinda plain noodles. It's not Soupy Noodles....Also the Canned Drink - "Jeera" basically means Cumin. It was a Cumin flavoured drink. Very good for digestion. It's an After meal drink. Yeah🤣...the last thing that mint is very strong. And it's the level 1 of becoming an addict...people start with it and increase ingredients like tobacco, then smoking then drugs, and alcohol tooo
Your view on mint is really weird; I can affirm it is not true; no offence But I think that last thing could be flavoured paan, an acquired taste and not for everybody
@@sumitnarang7689 I fed a stray cat mint flavour namkeen now whenever we feed him she became mad and it would feel like she would eat the whole bowl itself and attack us like crazy 😂😂
How to eat me 😂😂😘😭😭😭😂😂😂 I literally fell down laughing.....ok guys one thing I will suggest if you can do a live feed for indian snacks or proper food....so we can guide you on the way....other than that it was fun and amazing....mint paan in the end is actually the most unique stuff in India...but you have to have teeth for it....I mean for a beginner it will be tough....but gradually it is the best thing as it grows....have fun....and start with some Indian cuisine... recommend Punjabi Cuisine to start with 😘😘😘...but some suggestions before that...get it from a proper authentic restaurant....I'm sure other people in comments can guide you for the dishes...
Absolutely 🙏🙏you guys are really fun to watch.... whenever you are planning for Indian cuisine please let us know in advance...or do a polling of the dishes before starting.....it will be fun....some suggestions...Chola Bhatura but have it hot, Amritsari Kulcha and Black Lentils, Butter or Garlic Naan with any Non Veg or veg curry, Currys eg: ( Butter Chicken, Tandoori chicken, Chicken Curry, Chicken tikka masala, Kadai Chicken), and rest I guess the restaurant person will guide you. You eat all this with Naan bread or Tandoori Roti....oohh heaven on earth 😘😘😘...now one thing don't try all of them at once the authenticity will be difficult to judge...so try with 2 or 3 combos....there are multiple Veg dishes which are amazing.... 🙏🙏 Let me know if you have any other questions.....and trust me any questions...I will guide you with complete authentic reasons and proper explanation....
Maggie's receipe. 1 pack Maggie in hot boiling water. Take another pan , add 2 or 3 table spoon of oil, add onion, tomato, mint leaf, coriander leaf, Add main ingredient Maggie magic masala. Stir continuously and add the soft boiled Maggie with water. Leave for 10 mins , until the excess water evaporates, and u get the spicy sauce with the Maggie. Serve hot
Mint is also common in India. Basically westerns have never developed strong test & smell Habits. For us all (Most of the )western food is tasteless & smell less. We Indians can not even think of it.
India is largest producer of pulses, mangoes , milk, rice, wheat, sugarcane. India has 28 states and 8 union territories , so country is so diverse that every place has it's own famous dishes
As yo said you don't like mangoes, have you tried Indian mangoes? Indian varieties like Alphonso, Totapuri etc? Since its mango season I would highly recommend them even if not on the channel.
Hi SIU, I like your videos and your cadid opinion on tastes. I also don't like that Jeera drink. My most favourite snack is Bakarwadi and Chakali(similar to Murukku) I deep it in tea and then eat it. At home or in most of the restaurants fennel seeds are eaten after meal as mouth freshener.
Yaa it's understandable that maggie is yumm but Mama dont feed that instant noodles to ur hubby and baby girl every day as they are deep fried,, better keep it for occasionally eating,, health comes first ❤❤ love you guys
You might not have liked the drink because you do not eat Cummins in your diet back there. It's made from spices and Cummins , it is healthiest packed drink , good for digestion and gut health. We love your videos and reviews 😀👍
@@SnackInvestigationUnit Thanks for replying, we love how you describe in detail about your taste perception. 😀 There would be lots of Indian food which will have a typical flavours due to spices used here.
For more details on Indian snacks & food , you can check out the channel of Davids been here..vlogger from Miami..He first visited to India 3 yrs ago , and now almost converted to Indian😂..Thats what Indian food does to u.. ❤️from Bangalore, India🤘🙏
I guess its time to try Indian sweets... Rasmalai, jalebi, gulab jamun, rasgulla, mewa, egg burji, gajar ka halwa, moong dal ka halwa etc... Haha i can't even name them all.. But i want you guys to try more Indian snacks... That will be near about 500+ snacks. 😂😂
I would suggest you just to buy premium brands like - Parle, Parle Platina, Sunfeast, Britannia, Priyagold, Nestlé, Lays, Haldiram's, Too Yumm, Bingo!, Bikano, Kurkure, Dark Fantasy, Cadbury, Milano, Dukes, Unibic, Act II, Cornitos etc. Their products are sure sure likees !
Being an Indian even I'm not sure what the last one is. It looks like some kind of betel leaves, it's too strong, I would never eat that. Also, jeera is a kind of spice, called cumin in English. I really hate jeera based drinks. People are giving you wrong suggestions. If it's too strong for Indian taste buds it definitely won't suit Americans. I would suggest you guys to avoid the spicier ones and try the neutral ones.
Great video. Your tongue will become numb and your day will be ruined if you aren't careful with that last item you guys tried. Betel leaf has a very strong flavor and It should only be eaten after you have a heavy meal or if you feel nausea and only in small amounts. I'm in my twenties and I've only tried it once. They are preferred mostly by older generations.
@@SnackInvestigationUnit It has a lot of medicinal properties though. You can try It again after a heavy Indian meal. Just nibble it and your mouth will feel "refreshed", it will get rid of all the spice smell and flavor from your mouth.
U haven’t tried india most famous namkeen(salty snack) Khatta meetha by Haldiram ,aloo bhujiya by haldi ram , try 50-50 biscuits sweet and salty I bet u won’t regret any of it
Do you know the significance behind the name wagh wakhri. The name literally means tiger and goat. It's supposed to mean that it's so good that mortal enemies like the said tiger and goat would come down in peace and sit down for this cup of tea.😅
RUSK is kinda siilar to Biscotti and its very popular in India , Asia and Middle east including Iran. Is it also something Israelis and Jews eat ? usually RUSK has cardamom in it.
Mostly foreigners can't handle the taste.. but we inian are used to it.. this is not how its really look. but it gives you the taste of it.. we indians love to eat it after having meal.. it work as a mouth freshner..
I never tried that Jeera Drink and The Mint Balls they tried .... But now I want them to try 🙏😂🕉️💖🇮🇳 Thank You Guys ..... Good to know American Taste buds and Indian Taste buds are 80% Same .... 20% Exceptional Difference we can agree upon 😆👍 Those Mint Ball , Hajmola and Jeera Drink we Know That's next level thing only Indian can Handle 🙏😂🇮🇳💖🕉️💐
The mint you ate, I assume it is PAN. It is a very acquired taste even for us indians. Disclaimer: I do not promote eating pan especially the one with tobacco. The other one is a sweet pan made with mint n other sweet stuff that is acceptable.
There is a cheese flavoured or cheese sandwiched Monaco, I can't remember right now that is also good. By the way, i like your teacups they are different.
Most of these companies i am not even familiar with and dont think they exist in India except for few like Parle, Britannia & Lays etc…They are American Indian Cos maybe..Do try some more snacks from Haldiram (Bhujia, Bhel, Varieties of Mixtures like Sweet n Salty, Spicy ones) u will love it. Also its better not try the sweets in packaged form, as they are best enjoyed when served Fresh & Hot..For that u will have to come to 🇮🇳 soon for a Mind bending experience!!
Buddy those tiny mint balls aren’t that great for all … you did right taking it whole but it’s just not meant for all …. I would suggest to try fresh version of it .. as the fresh ones are hand made in front of you allowing to alter contents in it … the fresh one really hits the spot and again not something everyone likes but a majority do back in India
Guys there are few Indian things we love to eat but a non Indian can't because they are not used to it so you guys should not try them, these are- Hazmola Chavanprash Pan (which you ate at last) We adore them but they are not made for you 😉
@12:25 it says it doesn't have any onion and garlic because there are many people who follow Jainism in Maharashtra and Jains dont eat vegetables that grows underground (that snack is from Maharashtra)
Pistachio in Farsi / Persian is pronounces PESTEH , Just a fun fact :) Loved your video BTW and Cardamom is a commonly used spice in desserts in India and Middle East including IRAN. Milk Caramel wafers are also popular in Iran and the Iranian brand I have tried is delicious !!!!
I don't know why but that jeera drink isn't famous even here in India .... And all the youtubers are recommended it , yet it isn't much loved here too !!! Yet I always love people reacting to Indian snacks and food .... I definitely recommend you to have a full on Indian meal with a hot take away or car mukbang .... You'll love it (take it from authentic or good rated places please )
I loved your channel.. I want to say something.. indian food is also amazing as yours.. but you need to know something as jeera drink is for digestion after having rich food.. and of course frooti juice drink after giving a nice shake..
12:24 There is a small group of people in India called Jains. They are a minority religion. One of their main beliefs is non-violence. They tey to avoid violence at all costs. Even to plants and trees. So they do not prefer esting roots as to get a root, the entire plant needs to die. No onion no garlic is added to food packs so that the jain people know that they can consume it without being in conflict with their beliefs. Note that onions and garlic are the most common roots consumed in India Similarly there is a green dot in a green square to identify the foods as vegetarian (different from vegan as milk is allowed in vegetarian stuff) While non vegetarian foods are now marked as a red triangle withing a red square. Earlier it was a red dot in a red square, but to improve accessibility for color blind people, the regulation was changed to a red triangle
The last one which you had, is for fresh breath after you had your lunch or dinner. It's ok if you didn't like it. The punch of flavour is really very strong. Here in India we have it most of the time
LoL😂😂😂😂 I enjoyed your reaction, especially the last one. The Pan (after mint) is an acquired taste. It took me also a couple of tries before I started liking the taste.
The reason why on the packet its written no onion no garlic is because a lot of people in the country follow jain religion and they do not eat what grows under soil like garlic onion potato or any non veg as they believe in non violence and that plucking root vegetables kill tiny organism. Therefore even in restaurant, weddings, festival there is special counter or menu stating that its jain food. So for them this kind of information is on the packet.
I like jeera and the mint thing you showed in. Cause people like me, our taste buds are used to those. The jeera drink it's good for digestion. I can feel how you guys tasted it😂😂😂😂😂😂. Sorry for that 😂😂😂
Hey guys i love your videos and your honest reactions.. Pleas taste Maaja mango drink...Thumps up, limca, fanta(these are very famous coldrinks in India).. Try some cream biscuits.. some Cadbury choclates..why don't you guys go to an Indian resturant for lunch or dinner and do a vlog👍👍
The cardamom juice is basically milk + sugar + some cardamom powder. Cardamom is a spice which is not hot, but flavourful, its often added to sweets to give it fresh flavours. In nature cardamom pod is there which is green in colour (Fresh green) then the pod is broken (easily) and the dark brown seeds come from inside it, Cardamom seeds are even chewed to be used as an instant natural mouth freshner
Try all Indian Namkeens Indian Dishes..... Like Pav Bhaji, dosa, nan chole, butter chiken, vada pav, cheze chille, shahi Panner,Dal Makhni, Rumalo Rotti, etc
Some of the snacks were a bit too strong in the flavor department. In the initial days, I too struggled to like them. Then it became like an acquired taste. After years of trying and being force fed sometimes by relatives, it grew on me. The bakarwadi, jeera(cumin) drink, Amul Kool, Murukku, Paan( the thing which got a mighty zero) are some examples. :)
