This is how we know Tom Richey is qualified to teach. He lectures without editing the video, all in one go, cracking both eggs at once, telling dad jokes, and effectively teaching us history. Love from CA

Nicely done. You should do some more on things like the CIO (how it differed), Knights of Labor, and the IWW

The Cynical Historian didn’t the American federation of labor come from the knights of labor?

Unions back then were about keeping black folks out of the skilled trade jobs. When African Americans left the plantation they had the skilled labor. Northerners came together to keep them from getting jobs and opportunity.

Do you know anything about the various "fraternal/brotherhood" organizations of the early 20th century...related to railroad engineers? My great-grandfather and his brother were engineers in Georgia(Atlantic Coastline...I believe), and were card-carrying members of "Brotherhood of the Footboard," later known as "Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers"(I think that was the name) Anyway, they both had tragic railroad-related deaths...one in 1921 and the other in 1938...both died in Fulton County(Atlanta, GA) There was a lot of turbulence and animosity during this period of time...especially between the various Labor Unions, higher-paid employees vs.the blue-collar workers, and many strikes going on. One of these engineers had his train blown up(by dynamite)...under very mysterious circumstances. I would appreciate any info. or references you might have. Thanks!!!

It would be nice if you also made a video about the conditions of workers during hitlers time. He does talk about that extensively but it would be better to see the while situation clarified. It always stunned me how one of the most educated countries fell into the hands of Hitler (the despair must have been terrible). Can't even imagine something like that.

That's something I'll have to research that sometime... Lots of topics to cover between now and then, but I will keep this in mind. Would be interesting to know how workers fared under the National Socialist German Workers Party.
