DAWN was part of a group called pentagon but got kicked out for dating hyuna (they’re still together). she’s the bubble pop señorita reference and him, hyuna, and jessi are all close friends! “money” was his solo debut!

I feel like Jessi didn’t go as hard as usual on her verse mostly because this is DAWN’s come back. She had her moment with releasing NuNu NaNa and Numb, IMO she kept it on beat but wanted to make sure she focused on keeping it catchy and upbeat. Edit: Not everything has to go hard or be the most aggressive to be deemed “good” specially for a feature where she’s not the main focus.

Jessi made a lot of references in her rap. You have to get the references to actually appreciate it. Her verse was pretty playful if you add it to what he was singing about. He mentioned his girlfriend so she shout her out too as well as their label and a bunch of other people.

I think Jessi just didnt' want to take the spotlight away from Dawn.

Highkey I just feel like she was being cute on this song since shes a feature and they're friends. And there were a couple of bars in here that you missed, like she referenced her song 'nunu nana' as well as 'bubble pop' and 'hyuna said make your booty drop' which was referencing Dawn's girlfriend Hyuna and her song bubble pop. There was also 'jaesuk oppa said come on' which references a show she's doing rn called ''how do you play' where there host of the show always says 'come on' in English to her. It was a cute feature and I do think she was mainly playing around but its the type of bar that gets better every time you hear it and gets better when you understand it. Great reaction tho!

Yeah, you're right, the bars weren't super strong. But tbh Dawn had very few killer bars here, so she may have adjusted for that reason. This is definitely a song focused on being fun and catchy. His first single on PSY's label released about a year ago and it was a more serious and melodic track. Dawn is able to be pretty versatile and he's just a unique dude overall. And as I'm sure others have shared, he used to be in the group, Pentagon. Got kicked off of the label for confirming his and HyunA's relationship (she was also kicked). PSY was awesome and picked them both up, as soloists. Appreciate PSY for being more progressive and knowing where the Kpop industry is heading next with the progress currently happening.

Dawn was in the group Pentagon. He and HyunA have been together for 5 years now.

Dawn (formally called E'Dawn) was part of a group called Pentagon he was removed because he was dating Hyuna (a K-pop superstar) who was also apart of the same label before they both were kicked out (they are still dating and Hyuna is the Pop Senorita reference in the song). For whatever reason dating as an idol is prohibited in Korea or at least at that time not sure if this is being addressed but that's at least the gist of it. Psy picked them both up along with Jessi. Dawn's first single under P-Nation is "Money". You can find some of his previous work from his former group Pentagon: Shine, Gorilla, Runaway, Can You Feel It, Violet, Critical Beauty... etc. You won't miss him in the group since he was pretty prominent and featured in rap sections along with Wooseok.

i haven't seen anyone axplain who dawn is so i guess i will! dawn's real name is kim hyojong and he used to part of the kpop group called pentagon and a trio called triple h including himself, fellow pentagon member hui, and hyuna. his stage name used to be e'dawn back in pentagon but he outgrew that name and now goes by dawn. he has been dating hyuna for a few years on the low then went public against the company's wishes in 2018 when pentagon was hitting their absolute peak with their song 'shine'. it was unfortunate but he and hyuna were both kicked out of cube entertainment and triple h then dissolved naturally with pentagon continuing to promote as 9 members. he stayed low for about a year and signed to psy's record label called 'p nation' which is home to artists like jessi, hyuna, crush and heize. in case you didn't know psy used to be under yg entertainment and is the guy that released 'gangnam style'. he left and created his own label and created a home for artists who were in need of a small, tight-knit family-like company. dawn released his debut single called 'money' on november 6th 2019, the same day hyuna released her song 'flower shower'. this is his second release under p nation and his future is looking bright.

I felt the same way about Jessi's verse. I thought the beat change when she started rapping didn't flow smoothly, or maybe she came in too early and that "Comoon Jessi" kinda disrupted the vibe. But I suggest you listen to the live version, it flows better idk why, maybe it's her adlibs at the end.
