My childhood nostalgia i still love the American gladiators watched it every weekend and got to live my dream when I saw it live at universal studios back in the 90s wonderful show.
Shelly beatty aka Siren was a competitive bodybuilder and very well known during the early 90's, sadly she passed away through suicide by hanging herself....you just don't know others go through even though it looks to be going very well for them professionally.
Turns out steroids doesn't improve reaction time...I'm really glad for the new documentary and the gladiators mostly coming out and saying "yeah, we were pretty much all on gear"...those bodies simply don't exist naturally
Most women have never played a football type game. It's much harder to do the tackling than the running if you have no experience in a game like this. You also have an advantage in this game if you run faster than the person tackling you. You can see Jazz had some experience as she almost never went for a fake and made the tackle.
Similar to Human Cannonball, gladiators had the disadvantage in Breakthrough cause you had these contenders sometimes larger contenders charging at them at full speed and tried to run the gladiators over. The gladiators had to make a smart defensive move to take them down. I recall one dirty contender, Trish T., charging at Gold with the football and hit her on the chin with it in Season 2.
