Experts say instead of paying 50-75$ a month for warranty stash it away in a separate account and odds are in a few years you'll have a surplus to cover anything that comes your way.

We live in Tucson, AZ and AHS had to replace our AC 2 years ago - it took 58 days during the hottest summer in living memory ... 3 days ago the compressor died. The unit is 2 years old. Now we are reliving the nightmare again. 45 days minimum for compressor replacement.

The AHS headquarters are in Memphis TN and customers should start by organizing an on-site protest. It's important to hire someone experienced in public relations with good press connections. Ideally the protest will severely inconvenience the upper management and attract the attention of multiple law firms who might want to launch a class action lawsuit against the company. Law firms that might want the business should be alerted up front and they can send representatives to the protest and engage with customers who might care to participate in a class action. Without a doubt the wheels of justice here in I keep hearing is the "greatest country in the world" ha ha ha but eventually the class action will likely put these fraudsters out of business. I'd love to hear what others think about the idea...I'm listening.

They are a complete rip off. I was just told that the garbage disposal was misused/abused and therefore we cannot honor any protection/replacement. They can make this excuse with any home appliance. I learned my lesson and will not renew my contract with them.

I've had a policy with American Home Shield since 2011 and I cancelled the policy today but it wasn't easy to cancel. I had to spend 45 minutes on the phone with their Retention Department to make it happen. I could barely understand what the agent was saying. She was an asian woman who was reading from a script at the speed of light. I kept telling her to stop and insisting that AHS cancel my policy but she just continued reading her script. I told her that if she didn't immediately cancel my policy I would need to speak with her supervisor but she continued. On and on it went until I threatened to join a class action lawsuit against the company at which point she put me on hold and talked to her supervisor. It was only then that she turned me over to yet another person who finally agreed to cancel my policy. So believe me when I say it's not easy to cancel a policy. They will offer multiple months of "free coverage" if you agree to continue to pay for a policy which rarely if ever pays off. In my case I will save $600 a year which I can reserve for emergency repairs and I will be far better off. I should have cancelled with AHS years ago actually.

They are the WORST!! ALL they do is say "sorry to hear that" but do nothing to fix the problem!! They send less than par "contractors" to your house with poor score ratings. I have had the worst experience with them and would NEVER purchase their services again.

I feel your frustrations! AHS had an ac unit installed, the problem? I can’t plug it into my wall electrical because they installed a 30 amp, I need 20 amp. AHS said the contract doesn’t need to be exact brand... I don’t care about brand, I just need a 20 amp!

The obvious fact is this: AHS is a for-profit business. If they pay out more than they take in, they're done. Common sense dictates the premiums will ALWAYS exceed the benefits. A total inherent scam.

My 96 year old WWII Marine father was out of air conditioning in his Florida home for over 10 days "waiting for a part" because of AHS this summer, now his microwave has gone out and it has been more than 3 weeks "waiting for a part". Each and every time he has had a problem AHS has kept him waiting for at least a week, they cannot send someone out within a day or so. Buyer beware!

Your experience is mine. Nearly exactly. It’s impossible to deal with them by design. I believe it is criminal. Tha et never ever miss charging my credit card every single month for their premium. But the treatment of their longtime paying customers is worse than abysmal.

I have successfully used my AHS home warranty for years. My most recent claim was for my dishwasher. They were unable to acquire the part for my dishwasher so they offered my $790 for a new one. I was able to get a brand new dishwasher installed and delivered for that price. I caught one on sale so I was actually able to upgrade my dishwasher with no out of pocket. My tip, is before you file a claim, read your contract. If you filed a claim a month ago, and you are filing a new one, read your contract again. The very first thing this guy says is he called AHS because he noticed a water pressure issue. I read the contract again, and I don't see anything about water pressure being a covered repair. Having a home warranty doesn't mean that the home owner no longer assumes any responsibility for anything. Likely, the reason you had to spend so many hours on the phone with AHS is because you weren't listening to them. You didn't even need to call them. Read your contract. If it listed as a covered issue, guess what? It ain't covered.

I work for a different warranty company and I can’t agree with you more. Read the fine print so after I’ve gotten the diagnosis from the tech, you’re not completely blindsided if I’m not able to approve the claim.

You couldn't be further from the truth. The video we're commenting on was primarily explaining the issue of customer service. That has nothing to do with your contract. He was spot on when he said there is no customer service.

Got rid of them a couple of years ago. When I started with them you would get reputable contractors. As the years went on the contractors got worse and worse with horrible ratings. After talking to a contractor he said they won’t deal with AHS because it’s hard for them to get paid.

Yea forget about them! I had them years ago and don’t recall any problems! Just hire some one when things needs to be fix or it may just be time to replace things when broken !

It is horrible. I cant get through. the vendors are just stopping by and then its some crazy excuses. They spend more time trying to figure out why it is not their fault instead of even trying to find out what is actually wrong. disappointed tremendously with their service.

Let’s be completely honest, all home warranty companies and I mean all are going to do the absolute cheapest possible, that goes for labor and materials. What most warranty contractors do is hire warranty service runners, not licensed technicians, yes they work for a licensed contractor, yet the contractor company uses very cheap labor and then coupled with home warranty cheap materials, you get the worst of everything. The old adage, “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR” is true every minute of every day of every year, it will never change…… ever ! If you want quality work done for the home you live in, hire an absolute professional and if the company or guy they send is horrible, call it done and move on.

We can absolutely relate!! We have been without a washer since November 13, 2020. After three different contractors and hours on hold (just waiting for a customer service agent) the issue is yet to be resolved. Agents have refused our many requests to speak to or escalate the call to a Supervisor or Manager. Some have hung up on us as well. So frustrating that you cant get help when you needed the most! Best of luck to you with your claim, hoping it gets resolved soon.

I have American home shield also now 8 years, and they are horrible. The contract I have with them they will no long follow. I am still having problem with them for September 22. The service center never calls me back. Even after trying to get a supervisor I never get a call back. Now going on 4 months, and nothing is being taken care of. They hang up and it is like talking to a brick wall. Do not use this company, they will try everything to not to follow the contract as it was written. They pulled on me that even after 4 months without air in the state of Florida, I had to pay someone else to get my AC done, and they said they would do a cash in luw now that I had to fix it myself they are trying to say that because I fixed it they don't have to pay anything. I keep trying to get them to put that in writing and to point out where it said that in the contract. And they just keep giving me the runaround. I have talked now to about 6 different people there. And each will push the problem onto what they call they supervisor but I never get a phone call from that supervisor. I say if we are all having this type of problems, costing us all money. We should try and get some sort of class action suit against AHS for breach of contract as we are all seeming to have similar problems.

BIGGEST SCAM EVER!! Two years faithfully paying my monthly payment…my pump that PROVIDES WATER to my home broke-(water is kinda ESSENTIAL to a home) they said it was not covered…HOW CAN THAT NOT BE COVERED???? Dropped them like hot garbage!! 🗑️ Save your money pay yourself that amount so when something breaks your COVERED!! 2 years and then TOO NOT BE COVERED-!! Horrible scam!!!!! DO NOT go with American Home Shield!!!! Not sure about other home warranty companies but AHS is a horrible company that needs to go bankrupt!!! I had Shield Platinum plan with AHS when my HVAC went out in July in northern VA. The fan motor was the problem. AHS first lied about supply chain issue over not being able to fix the motor. I caught their lie when I called the servicing contractor and they informed me that AHS didn’t even order the parts. When I confronted AHS after suffering in over 90 temperature for three weeks, they said their parts order department was backlogged and it will take them a few more days to order. I requested a cash out offer for me to replace the motor myself. Although customer service promised the offer paperwork in a few days, it took them another week to send me the offer which was half the estimated cost. I declined the offer and requested to AHS continue with the process of ordering the parts. This is when my nightmare really started. Although the customer service person promised this will not happen, if you request a cash out offer they you push you to the end of the line for parts order and fix. They promised this will not happen until I accept the offer. When I declined the offer and asked about the status of the parts, the operator told me that they cancelled the order and it will take them a few more weeks to order the parts!!!!! The madness doesn’t stop there. Not wanting to suffer more, I decided to accept the original cash offer. The customer service again promised me that since they already had the cash out calculation, I will receive the offer in24 hours. Lol Fat chance.. Not wanting to suffer more, I had the fan motor fixed myself. A few days after customer service informed me it will take them a few more weeks to order the parts and I requested the cash out offer the second time, I got a call from the original servicing contractor saying they received the parts from AHS…. I informed the contractor that I fixed the issue myself and was waiting for the cash out offer from AHS. AHS even tried to charge me restocking fee for the parts. The only thing that held AHS to their side of the deal was because I started recording my conversation with AHS and threatened them with going online before they finally settled. Bottom line, It took me over three months to get the cash out offer. Do NOT go with American Home Shield.

Calling to cancel now. I've been researching to find the best one or at least an honest company. I tried AFC Home Shield and they was trash too. At this point I'll rather just pay out of pocket. We are all pissed 😡

American Home Shield customer service is so bad, it is almost illegal. All their agents are overseas, and they are trained to do one thing and one thing only...say "no." They have no idea about your local area, no idea about home maintenance, and no motivation whatsoever to create happy customers. What AHS is GOOD at is sales. They will call you and call you and call you incessantly to sell you plans that...ultimately they don't even honor. I had to hire someone directly to fix my problem. The serviceman they contracted told me "I know how to fix this. if you were a 'normal customer' I could take care of this for you no problem, but AHS won't let me do it." awful company. disorganized, lacking empathy, dishonest.

Be careful using your credit card to pay the $75 fee for them to come out for repair, they kept my credit card on file, even though I was paying monthly. Suggestion? Buy a credit card at the store for $75 to pay the Stevie fee because they were charging me monthly without my knowledge. And didn’t refund me. I dropped the plan!

So true. Over the last few years the service has degraded to the point of being useless. The call cneter people do not speak english clearly. The contract is so convoluted that it no longer covers anything that can go wrong,. I am dealing with a water heater that is clearly leaking after 14 years of useage. So the technitian comes out and says, yep its leaking. He leaves and then AHS tells me over the phone that it will cost me an additional amount in the range of what a new water heater would cost. So what have I been paying for every month for decades? I've paid close to a grand this year for this "insurance" and now AHS does not want to pay for replacing my water heater. WTF?

call today to cancel but they tell me that I have a contract for one year if I cancel I have to pay for the whole year !!! I ask them to send me a copy for my contract because I never signed anything.but I am sure that they going to make me pay .😔

Believe it or not, this problem has gotten even worse!!!! Please save yourself stress and Money and avoid this company!!! This company has made it so that they can avoid your service and not be held legally accountable. Again, do not waste your money on AHS!!!!

All eight minutes and fifty six seconds of your video are an exact copy of my experience. Clearly, not a single soul at the company gives a shit about its long-term viability any longer. Whoever is ultimately receiving the bulk of the money is in it for the short-term, and is simply going to take the money and run while the company goes up in flames. May those people burn in hell, and when they call to try to get out, may they reach a phone tree that doesn't offer the option they need and, when they finally reach a representative, may they reach a representative whose accent is so thick as to not be understood by the hell-rotting greedsters.

American Home Shield is Worthless! Save the money you would spend on a contract renewal, and get a quality tradesperson off Angie’s List. Quality tradespeople won’t work for the money AHS pays. “Pissed consumer of American Home Shield” had nearly the exact same experience I had with AHS!

Very bad customer service. Had very similar experience. Open service request in Sep 15th for dishwasher but still its open. Every two days I spent an hour with AHS to follow up but always same response that they will get back to me but no response . I always ask them to whom can I escalate this issue but no response. Bad decision to go with AHS.

Absolutely steer clear of American Home Shield. My yard has had sewage, a health hazard, for one month due to a sewer pump malfunction that my selected plan covers specifically. AHS has reworded the contractors assessment in order to feign that my plan does not cover the pump system. The AHS phone representatives have no way of transferring customers to a direct supervisor or manager, and no phone number is made available to the next level management. They do not document contact with the contractor in order to blame the contractor for the mistakes.

True, American Home Shield is horrendous!! They have awful customer service in foreign countries that are useless. Trying to get through the call tree is a total brick wall and keeps repeating itself and does not get through to a representative. They collect the money and run. This company is a total dumpster fire. These demons at AHS need a class action lawsuit!!

Ahs is a scam with ac contractors. They up the cost of non covered items and pass a low labor cost to AHS. In return AHS rewards those contractors who manipulate the cost with more service calls dispatched to them.

4 hours scam please don't get this cancel.I going to the same this you went thru they hanged up. Get one of those pressure valve meter before you call them. They said the water pressure was 120 but a this point I didn't see what it mark there.If you have water pressure over 80 that it is not covered for anything. I will get my own pressure meter to see what reading a will get.I bought the house I use to rent for 10 years so they think I don't know the house.They plubmer just lying that water heater was old and now is leaking. But ofcourse if they said high water pressure that the magic word not covered.

Its not the plumber fault that your valve are leaking they need replaced because he turned it the valve shouldn't leak pay the plumber to fix the other valve
