Exactly! That was the only reason. The girl sounded good, but she needed training and mature a bit, and she could probably be great.

Katy might think that Grace could improve in the short time period during the competition but Lionel had the different thoughts. She might be good but there are many contestants who are better in their skills and experiences. It is pretty hard for her to improve in the short time to beat the other contestants. So, he thought it might be better for Grace to step back and take some time to improve her skills so that she can come back and have the higher chance to really win this show.

Katys only saying shes's got "Stardust" because of who her grandmother is. She wouldn't be saying that to a girl who came off from the streets.
