The 2018 Cadillac CT6 3.0L Twin Turbo Platinum might be a mouthful, but it packs a lot of full-size luxury features for it's $100,000 price tag. Read our full review: goo.gl/hEKK5y
We're very open when it comes to what we do here at Perpetual Radio, and we talked about how Cadillac was one of the few brands we personally would not consider to buy when it comes to a car, but like the other vehicles on that list, we've changed our minds. The 2018 Cadillac CT6 with the 3.0L V6 Twin Turbo engine at the Platinum trim is seriously good. We spent an entire week with this car and couldn't get enough of it.
We go in-depth with our full tour and review of this full-size luxury sedan, going over all the safety, tech, and luxuries that come with that near $101,000.00 MSRP. We also use Cadillac's Super Cruise Control feature which allows the car to steer the wheel while driving on highways. There's a lot happening in this car, so we try to cover all of it on this episode of TestDrive Spotlight.

Between the two cars I would deathly pick the Cadillac over the BMW. Why because I own a 745 I I’ve had it for eight years now and let me tell you the cost of owning this thing for repairs is ridiculously through the roof long-term the Cadillac is the better deal BMW may have more options but in the long run you’ll love the Cadillac.

Well said. It's hard to predict which new cars are going to have the most problems down the road. Early CT6 models experienced some transmission issues, we're not sure if it was limited to the 2016 models or not. But both cars are going to be costly either way, even if they don't break down both have complicated mechanicals and electrical systems compared to cars even 10 years ago.

MARCELLUS CUNNINGHAM all the Caddys are expensive to maintain but they're cheaper than the Bimmers. I drive a '04 Deville and the parts are still expensive. But I still want a CT6 😉

We think so too, there's a lot going on for the price and it does come in less expensive than the base model S-Class or 7 Series. It's a good step for Cadillac to start working on their full-size market.

The Cadillac CT6 pleasantly reminds me of the De Ville.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 3 года назад
It definitely does! Cadillac has stuck to their core design language over the decades. We had the chance to feature an 89 De Ville a few months back, the taillights are similar that if neither car had badges you'd know they both were Cadillacs.
@antoinepageau8336

I heard Cadilac has had poor reliability with this model. Has the 2018 model improved? If my best friend depreciation works his magic on this model (and I predict it will be significant), in three years you should be able to pick one of these up for around $40,000. The car has been on the market for two years now and I can't remember seeing a single one, and I live in Montreal where you can see 7 series and S class cars here and there
@Tonyx.yt.

I think globally only 9k of these were sold in the US in 2016, probably even fewer here. Our GM rep told us that the new CT6-PHEV will only have about 20-25 sent up here, which is too bad, we would have loved to feature it. We also haven't seen any CT6s on the road. The only issue we've heard about the CT6 was with the transmission, some owners of the 2016 models noticed the transmission would jump when coming to a stop, we didn't notice that on this one and it had about 10k km on the clock.

Did my eyes deceive me? Did I see an MSRP of a 100k for this car? It's a beautiful car so please don't get me wrong, but it is nowhere near worth a $100,000 and is closer to the value of the new Lincoln Continental or Hyundai G90 I believe! I also have to add that I've seen this car the Cadillac CT6 and the Lincoln Continental in person and I think the lincoln is a better looking car inside and out with the exception of the front end other cadillac which I like better.

The car is nice, but I still think Lincoln has them beat. The steering wheel is a big miss. Its too complicated, with the buttons all the way at the bottom. For 100k it should feel special. It has all the features, but doesn't package them at all.

We had a quick look at the Continental at the auto show, it's definitely got a 7 Series/S-Class type interior, over this. We're going to try and add some of the clips we took of the Continental into the Showdown we're doing on this in a few weeks.

100k CAD for such a car is dirty cheap... a bmw 750 top trim require 40k € of optionals to get the same level of equipement of this car, so it cost 160k € or 250k CAD ... this exactly car cost slightly less than 100k € in europe, much less than similar german full size luxury cars with same equipement, but nobody buy a cadillac (or a lexus) "becauze is not german cit."
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
There's certainly a lot more potential with the 7 Series, we filmed one alongside this to see how they compare, and we'll be doing the Showdown on it in a few weeks. The 7 Series we filmed had an MSRP of $138,000 CAD, and that wasn't even fully loaded. Sure, there's a lot with the 7 Series that makes it over the top, but at some point you have to wonder how much is too much.

"Interior fit and finish With the CT6, Cadillac went for plush and rather purposeful instead of lavish. Panels of glossy carbon-fiber trim (wood is available) punctuate the dashboard and door panels. Most other surfaces, including the sides of the center console, are soft to the touch. Lots of cut and sewn panels cover the dashboard, giving an air of craftsmanship. Additional stitching creates an eye-catching pattern on the leather seats. Consumer Reports review of CT6.

What are you blabbering about? This car, among other great GM products, have been in design years before Trump was even on anybody's radar. I would like to point out it was the Obama administration that bailed out GM and FCA. GM has been doing great since 2010 and their stock shot up 33x higher that same year compared to what it was in late 2008-2009. That, my friend, was long before Trump ever came into the picture. I own one. Absolutely the worse new car experience in my lifetime. The crudely shifting 8 speed transmission eventually failed at 2,500 miles and my new Cadillac CT6 had to be gutted for a replacement transmission. LF fender was so misaligned that the drivers door crunched it. Goodyear tires were defective. Rear axle and bearing failed within the first 130 miles on day of delivery. The new transmission is shifting as crudely as the first one. Confused downshifts and clunking 1-2 upshifts. It's an embarrassment. Attractive car, but cheaply made. Clearly, I got a lemon, so shop carefully.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
Is yours a 2016 model year by any chance? We did check some Cadillac enthusiast forums and saw complaints about the transmissions in the 2016 model year, but since the 2018 is too new we haven't heard of any real issues. One of our colleagues out in Toronto had the super cruise control fail on them during their drive with this about a month ago, steering wheel locked up completely. We have this car booked again for next week where we'll be taking it on an extended road trip to see if it's developed anything. We dropped it off at 10,000km, by now it might be pushing 12k.
@bill_4888
@bill_4888 6 лет назад
It's a late 2017. The 16's, 17's and 18's have the same powertrain, with no apparent enhancements.Cadillac has been cooperative and sympathetic. Gutting the car for a transmission replacement takes over a week. Service bulletins for transmission programming, shift adapts, fluid changes, apologies, etc., have not brought any relief to owners ..... forcing dealers to write 'performs as designed' when nothing smooths out the shifting. Beautiful sedan, no question, looks stunning in black, but tends to perform crudely.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 лет назад
That's really unfortunate, hopefully they'll be able to figure out what the problem actually is so you can actually enjoy the car! It's one thing when these types of cars start costing a lot 5-10 years down the road, but when it's within the first year it's a huge problem.
@normt5463

@@bill_4888 is it being driven enough for the PAL(performance algorithm logic) to adjust? Most say after programming and the 3rd flush it is only rough when cold. Allot of that is the clutch packs adjusting during break-in for fuel economy.
@bill_4888
@bill_4888 4 года назад
I wouldn't know. I got rid of it and that beautiful new CT6 ended up in auction. All attempts to get its second 8L45 transmission to shift normally failed. That flawed transmission is the subject of a class action suit filed across 8 states against GM. I replaced the car with a 2019 CT6 with the new 10 speed and it's been perfect.
