Mikie Lee the feel of each car is different, and reaction time may vary based on your car's transmission, overall stats, and the driver's focus (if they didn't focused while racing, definitely their reaction time will be bad.) P.s I think some muscle cars shown here is already tuned and fettled well meanwhile the import drivers are mostly stock and not tuned at all
That’s the thing I hate about Jdms for instance the Toyota Poopra comes stock w like 200 hp people strap 60000 turbos on it and say “ThE sUpRa Is FaST” no it’s not if I put 60000 turbos on a lawnmower of course it would be fast doesn’t mean that all lawnmowers are fast.
@@Hiddenpower6 no the reason people love the Supra is because of the cast iron 2jz is such a easy platform to Make power out of even without boost , with stock internals it’s just like the rb20 on the r32 it’s such a good engine to work on
@@DanielGarcia-dd7vu exactly though to work on. But people will give it like 5,000 hp and say oh yeah Toyota is they best this Supra has 5,000 hp. The thing Is thought you can’t give the company bragging rights for something they didn’t do. Yeah you could give them credit for having a easy engine to work on but I can’t say that Supra’s are stock with that hp you can’t give Toyota bragging rights on power if they can’t make it themselves.
@@Hiddenpower6 they could make it themselves, but why? They would mark it up for sale with an extremely high price tag, most people that get a supra are a tuner anyways, so it wouldn't matter, like the Subaru drivers. Oh them making an insane supra would be like them making a dodge demon too, but again, not many are gonna be able to afford that
@@ihavenoname5800 im here to see people complaining over the Muscle Cars loosing to Imports I like both but pefer BMV BMWs German pronunciation got to love them Bavarians
listen everyone always argues, muscle is better, tuner is better. I can make a lawnmower that will outrun them all. speed is just money, more money more speed. in the end it's just what you prefer to go fast in, I prefer muscle, love the looks and the sound but that's just me.
Michael Ennis True but there is no replacement for displacement all things being equal.Thats where the arguing comes from. The golden rule is ALWAYS THE SAME.Even for electic cars.
swanginfleet I knew there were plenty of solid builds you could do with civics, however, I wasn't sure how well they would perform and I'm also curious if it involves swapping to a completely different engine to get those times or if its100% Honda built
+Benjy Warren usually they use the Honda engines, originally 1.6 liter (90s Civics), 1.8 (Acura Integra) or 2.0 (the K20 engine, used in a lot of Honda models)
+Benjy Warren Yep, Ian is correct. The honda K series engines are the new trend. Some of them are getting 5 to 600 horsepower naturally aspirated and over 1,000 with turbos. If you wanna see something cool look up the 1320 video with the honda powered MR2. That thing is a beast.
I'm a fan of muscle. Majority of them ran 10s, but I gotta give that civic some credit. It ran 10 and caught me off guard against that Godzilla. Great tune
Ford Python12 yea there lil shit boxes but hell they'll catch you off guard and that's the point .. Kinda why my 632 big chief 3rd gen camaro has "305" written on the side .. People just think you stuck a crazy cam in it until you go 6s
True that. But depending on car setup, reaction time may not translate to best 1/4 time. The point was that you're criticizing them for not excelling at something they probably weren't even trying for.
um new tunners? you better take another look at the video, the GTR and the Evo were the only things with potential to do anything , everything eles was old and front feel drive, but whatever you have to tell yourself to feel better about muscle cars 👍
@@sheeshmeister791 by money he means money in order to upgrade an engine and tune it. Not buy one. Even if people say tuners are better or muscle is better overall, it comes down to how good they built the engine.
As someone else pointed out already. It comes down to how much money you want to spend. You could make a pinto or a honda civic into a 10 second car if you spend enough. There will always be a car out there that'll beat you, no matter how fast you are. It all comes down to personal preference. Import / muscle....its entirely up to you. I can appreciate either one, especially when someone has put in the wrench time on it.
My 1980's 4 pot 2 litre turbo looks like a piece of shit and even looks slow with a dummy pee shooter exhaust out rhe back but runs 13's it not the fastest but upsets all the show ponies. This is just how i like it.
3:11 That Foxbody launch was incredible! See how much it torqued the frame......? Im not a big Mustang fan, but..if your looking for a dragster, there ya' have it, that things quick as FUCK!
Sure, that why all three of them went bankrupt. American cars are great for the dragstrip because their V8's have loads of low-end torque. Nothing beats american muscle off the line. But an average stock american car can't do 140mph on the Autobahn safely. It would be all over the place. Certainly not the cars shown here.. And as far as luxury and sportscars go, Europe definitely is in a league of it's own. Same with semi trucks.
Because Honda Civics are very cheaply and easily made into almost comically fast drag cars, however, going through all the effort to convert them to rear wheel drive wouldn't make much sense, as for a similar price, and much less work, you could've just gotten a rear wheel drive car in the first place. Front wheel drive does give them an inherent disadvantage, both in grip and increased rolling resistance, but they do pretty damn well with what they have.
When a rear wheel drive car accelerates the weight is transferred to the rear wheels, increasing traction. On a front wheel drive car the traction is reduced. Just basic physics. That's why most high end sports cars are rear wheel drive. Front wheel drive cars also suffer from torque steer. It's a poor system really. The only advantage is that front wheel drive is cheaper to manufacture. You get what you pay for!
I got a question for anyone who might know. Would a 71 duster 225 and/or 340 be faster than an 05 civic coupe? Sorry if this is a silly or strange question.
As an owner of a 2015 Focus ST, I'll admit that you'll never beat displacement. It's awesome that we can get over 300 horses stock in our 4 cylinders, but we are seeing the V8's topping over 800 pony's stock in today's muscle cars. We live in an amazing time my Bro's.
+Ckc dillpickle lol. stock, which I assume that was, is amazingly unheard off. those other muscle cars were heavily modded and built for drag. anything under a 13 second for a car that's stock is crazy. (relatively speaking) and comparing it to a tesla isn't very fair. The tesla is practically built for launch, and it's as he said, the fasted sedan to run a quarter mile, however the gtr is built for track and doesn't focus on straight line speed as much as handling and cornering. Now tell us again, how fast is your car?
this is probably a really stupid question but, are superchargers not allowed in drag racing? cause it seems like they all have turbochargers. I'm not great on picking up on the sounds.
Professor_Dark No they are allowed but turbos push harder on the top end. Superchargers shine outta the hole at lower rpms and add torque to get the car moving. They both have there ups and downs but if you drive your car on the street much superchargers are more street able but turbos make more power but are harder to install. Its all about what u want and how much money u wanna spend
Muscle cars were doing every single kind of competition before Japanese and German cars got popular even in their own country. It was American muscle that put every other country's cars on their knees and they wanted to know badass fast felt like because America showed it everyday. I like some imports, too, but saying thing like "Japan invented drifting" is an absolute lie and you go by what you hear. Ever since the automobile was first produced, people were racing them. Henry Ford was having fun with what he made and let's not forget America first made the automobile.
i love how when fast and furious came out, tuner guys thought they were bad, haha wat a joke they have always been slow. it takes like 30,000 to even compete with an average fast muscle car, wat a joke still fun watching them get destroyed
why do those older muscle cars launch so quickly then fall flat after 60mph? Even when I had my little 300hp civic coupe on all season tires they would destroy me at launch, looking like they're about to do 10 second passes and I would be side by side at the finish line
