Ren Genesis is right up your alley man

The physical and mental problems aren't just in the past. He's doing 5 hours of treatment, 5 days a week in Canada to repair his damaged organs and regrow neural connections he lost to Lyme disease. He's been doing that since the beginning of the year, with one quick break last month to go home and take care of some things. In an interview this summer the interviewer commented that he looks great: Ren was quiet, then he said softly but matter-of-factly "I choose when I allow people to see me." He came way too close to dying, and he had a lot of damage before he got his diagnosis. He also says he's happy, and grateful that he's able to make music and have people listen. He knows his own priorities. I have total respect.

Even if you don't react to it, you should watch Rens 5 min video about 1 million subs / what success means to him! I really think you'll dig what he's saying and it'll give you insight to who he is as a person

Ren made this song and released it with a straight forward video as he was getting frustrated at how long it took to write a song and get it to his fans…so Sam and Ren drove around and filmed this video… Ren doesn’t get played on UK radios … he’s received no recognition for his music in the 11 years he’s been producing and sharing his music…

Ren isn't a one trick pony. One song might be rap, one might be hip hop, one might be a power ballad, or performative. It's okay to not like some of his songs. Different people will resonate with different songs for different reasons and that's cool. Dope reaction!

Big respect to your reactions. Ren is a huge talent. And lots of reactors are recognising he generates clicks. But you know what you like and look for and your reactions are true to this. I don’t always agree. But I always respect your integrity.

This is on my commute playlist. Bouncy, and I love the poetry of "Through the walls, I heard love dying." The sample is saying "Power," and I love how he plays the sample instead of singing normally. I believe Ren created this from start to finish, including the video (with his videographer Samuel, who is also the guy driving the car around Brighton). IDK who is singing the sample (or if it's him & he just distorted it). That's how Ren started BTW, selling CDs of beats he produced, and he taught himself guitar by watching videos, including those of Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante (mentioned in this song). No, Ren hasn't charted. As an independent artist, it's wonderful to see people listening to him more and more the last few months. "HI Ren" came out last December and got people to look at his discography. So, he's rising. P.S. He also plays bass, drums, and piano. You mentioned his range in another reaction, and it's so true. Not the hi-lo, but how many different singing voices he has. Check out "Humble" or him w/The Big Push "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" for 2 more voices.

This is my go-to song when I need a lift! The lyrics touch on deep personal experiences, but he focused on his power - his music. Ren poured himself into this track. It was the first song he did completely independently after he parted ways with his management company. So he said it gave him a new energy. It was all written, produced, played, mixed and mastered by Ren. And he kept the video very simple - just two cell phone cameras as he drove around with his buddy/filmmaker Samuel Perry-Falvey, the one who filmed Hi Ren and many other of Ren’s one-take videos. Most of his videos are shot in Brighton, but I think this one was Bristol.

I heard you mention the sample a few times. It's not a sample he played it all 😂 the guy is a monster 😂😂

His songs "suicide" and "for Joe" are songs about his friend Joe who commited suicide. They are his reflections on losing his friend as well as his own struggles with going through his medical issues. The more fun tracks like this one and his rap retake of the edm song "losing it" are bouncy and fun. He does storytelling stuff like" the tale of Jenny and screech ". He has some political and society commentary in songs like "sic boi" and "money game 1&2". I personally take it as an artist expressing his joys and sadness through his art. In most cases he makes the beats and produces all his own stuff. When he uses others music he credits it. He is not signed and only does self releases and promotion. It's like your homie down the street making videos and blowing up. All of the people in his videos are friends. The cinematography is a friend Sam who may be even more talented than Ren. Not every song is a hit but I do feel they are genuine. Forgive us Ren fans for our protective nature. He seems to be a genuinely good person in a sea of bullshit that has been coming out of the music industry for a long time. I also like that you call bullshit when you don't like things. Keep doing that and we won't be mad. I think you would like Losing it Sic Boi (not sure if you have done that one yet) Money game 1,2 Love music 1, 2 and 3 but definitely 3 For Joe is one of the most pure expressions of grief I have heard.

Hes got a #1 album, a RU-vid plaque for a million subscribers and 3 plaques for winning multiple times at the London music festival. So yeah he wrote this awhile ago but he's still killing it.

Man, I think you jumped the gun a little bit. Ren's parents split up when he was a teenager, but from what I know he's father ( Martin Gill ) didn't " run off " and remained part of Ren's life and still does. Martin regularly comments on YT and other social media, thanking reactors and the public for their love and appreciation for Ren. He's obviously proud of Ren, just like the rest of us Brits. Ren has a ton of songs about depression, illness etc because that was his life for years. It was all he knew and he wrote about. His songs speak for those who experience the same but don't have the voice. Yup he can do fun stuff and dark stuff. His rapping on his sad stuff is exceptional also.

I do think songs are needed to fit the mood and the fact that ren can take you down and back up is a testament to the man's talent. When I'm down I want to wallow in it and add music that helps me accept when I'm there. And artist that has music that takes you through the spectrum is rare. We're all seeing the Reniverse.

Ren fans come at reactors who don’t think he’s keeping it real because it doesn’t get more real. It’s why we urge everyone to read his story. He was so sick he didn’t think he’d make it to 30. He’s been making music for a long time but no, he’s never had a radio hit. He’s independent. Writes lyrics, plays the instruments, mixes, produces…himself. He put out a whole album himself while he was sick just because he wanted to get his music out in case he didn’t make it. It was dedicated to his best friend who committed suicide, that’s where the subject comes from.
