As a latina, I absolutely love this song! Becky G totally nailed it, her vocals, her rap, switching from english to spanish just like Hobi from korean to English, this was a true homage to both their latin and korean roots respectively. Super fun song and MV. There's a live performance of this song by the seven members in one of their online concerts Sowoozoo, they had so much fun doing it, RM and Jimin killing it with the Spanish parts and JK vocals! Amazing! Also JHope and Becky G were able to perform this song together for the first time last year at lollapalooza, after three years since it's release. Thank you for the reaction!! 💜💜💜

One thing I love is how much respect BTS shows. Here to BeckyG and the backup dancers all getting credit. To Bianca for the original song with a huge payment (I think $1.7M) directly to her for the song being his inspiration to start dancing. Also how they helped get Megan the Stallion the payment and rights to be in Butter with them when she was fighting her own label. Respect for artists always. 💜💜💜

j-hope has kid dancers because that’s how he started. He practically came out of the womb dancing and was in a street dance crew (Neuron) in his home town by elementary school. He couldn’t afford much lessons at the dance academy he was going to, so he would watch the lessons and practice on his own. His mom took on extra work to afford lessons for him and was super supportive. He made a song about her (MAMA) because she really made it possible for him to do what he does now.

Great commentary guys! I also found it really interesting how you were disecting the different components of the video/vocals and even the language use in the song. Not many people realize Jhope made nothing on this song and paid it forward by purchasing the sample for 2 mil from the orginal artist to show her respect for the inspiration, great research! It was funny when you guys got so emersed that you didnt even realize Jhope was infact raping in Korean when you were trying to remember the begining. It's actually a really common thing that happens once you've really let yourself get into their music, you literally forget that it's in another language especially when the lyrics are translated on the screen. I think sometimes j-hope's versatility works against him (it shouldn't but it does) because he's harder to pin down. You listen to BTS and you immediately get a sense of what RM does and what Suga does and it's more traditional and it feels really concrete. "They're rappers, they rap like this, they're incredibly good at it, I get it." But j-hope is rapping slow and swaggy, or doing a lot of adlibs, or singing, or doing a character driven rap, or doing a belly-cry belt thing that is kind of rap but kind of singing, and this song is slow but this song is exuberant but this song is boom-bap, and this song is trap with autotune...it takes more time to get a grasp on what he's doing because he's doing something different every time. After a while, you start to realize that j-hope's verse or part is your favorite part of every song because he just comes on sideways and makes you move. But I think once you start to get a handle on it and see more of it and especially watch him live, it all starts to add up and the big picture all those pieces make up is something quite phenomenal. A portrait of a singular talent, a superstar, a jack of all trades. I think it makes him an incredibly exciting artist. And I love the energy and vibes he brings too. He's got *it*.
