To reply to your question on Jules Bianci and how it happens, it shouldn't... anymore. They made a rule, because of this incident, that if the tractor comes out, they have to red flag/stop the race until the track is clear. A couple of seasons ago though at the same circuit, in the same rainy conditions, after a minor crash, a tractor entered the track when there was still F1 cars on the race track, behind the safety car. A few of the drivers on the race track that day were close friends with Jules and they were furious when they found out a tractor was on the track with them... as they should be.

In Jules Bianchi's last accident, the old formula 1 rule decided that when the service car (any car that is not a formula 1) that was activated the local yellow flag should be activated, as soon as this same service car was off the track, or already close to the access points to the track, the green flag should have been raised again, the Bianchi crashed because he suffered aquaplaning during the rain. Today this protocol is completely different, any service car that is activated during the race the yellow flag is activated on the entire track, and is only removed when the car is completely removed from the track, and on tracks where it is raining, this and even more strict

The final crash was heartbreaking and to me this was always very avoidable. Some people defend F1, Charlie Whiting (Race Director) but for me.. everything about this has always been very wrong. I already said online- in advance.. they shouldn't be racing on that day. Why? They were in Japan and there was a cyclone/typhoon/hurricane forecast. It was a very predictable forecast from early in the week. There were many options.. hold the race a day early.. moving the whole weekend schedule forward. Or race after the super storm had passed. Or even to cancel the race. They chose to ignore the forecast and pretend that it was a regular race weekend.. crazy to me. And I wasn't the only one talking about it, many of us online were saying the same thing. It was obvious something bad was going to happen. So.. the thing with the forecast was that the weather was only going to ever get worse later into the day. So they started the race under SC.. and they waited way too long to start the race. They were overly cautious and Lewis was on the radio urging them to start the race.. what were they waiting for? Eventually they started the race, and it was fine in the early stages. But it got worse later on. The crazy thing? The overly safe thing that they did at the start.. they didn't do that approach at the end. They continued to race. And guess what else was wrong? The light was fading and it was getting dark. Sunset plus heavy rain.. and this was all super predictable. They were trying to finish the race, knowing that if it stopped it wouldn't be able to restart. Emotionally invested in the result of the race itself. The part of the track where the drivers were crashing was a dip in the road where water was pooling causing "aquaplaning". It basically makes the car float above the track like a boat on water. This was causing cars to go off in the same corner. The rain was heavy, the track was flooded and the light was really bad. Bianci went off under SC.. not under green flag conditions. That's how bad it was. No one was ever held accountable. The investigations concluded that Bianci drove too fast under the SC. There were many things that could have avoided this. What they ended up doing was being overly safe in the beginning (wasting time and delaying the race) and not safe at all at the end when the track was gone and the light was worse (and a driver lost his life). There was no planning or forward thinking, and they were too stubborn in sticking to the TV schedules. The day before the weather was fine. He was young and had a bright future.. it's a very sad story. They now have a HALO and this protects the driver more, but it ignores all of these other blunders. And the worst part is that it was all predictable. This wasn't a random storm, it was a Japanese Typhoon that was predicted days in advance. We were talking about it on the Monday or Tuesday, and the race was on Sunday afternoon.

As has been mentioned - in the wet, some of the older tracks don't have the best drainage and there are occasionally streams of water running across a track. In that instance it's like the rest of hitting black ice when these poor drivers start aquaplaning, they're genuinely just passengers for the moment. Think Doggo on a wooden floor.. These F1 cars are designed to be sucked onto the track by the aero, when that doesn't happen - they're neither particularly safe nor fast. It's where that weird logic comes into it that they need to push and go faster to get the aero that gives the grip to then go faster. Going faster through a corner can mean they have more grip, due to the downforce being able to overcome the loss of lateral grip but it depends on the particular corner.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i beleve that the crash of R. Schumacher happend because of a tire failure. To respond to the Jules Bianchi crash: The green flag was waved, but it was in the next mini-sector of the circuit. At Sutil's crash site there was waved double yellow. However, the reason Bianchi crashed was aquaplaining of his car, because of the dreadful weather. The race also got delayed by a whole lot of time which meant it was almost sunset. However, a crane vehicle shouldn't have been present on track, without all drivers lining up behind the safety car which we have nowadays (yet in 2022 one drove ON track after Sainz' crash where Gasly almost crashed into it)

12:47 it could just be the water... If the rain is unexpected they'd be racing on slicks, even semi-slick can only deal with so much water so sometimes safety cars are deployed during heavy downpours that leave the track water-logged. It does slow them down they're still going pretty quick. 60-70 feet would be covered in no time at all

Further to your point on the first lap in F1, a lot of incidents that would be punished by the stewards (minor crashes, driver who caused it may get 5-10 second penalty) get ignored as its generally accepted that the first lap is CHAOS, especially the first turn/corner. 20 cars, all barreling towards one corner going over 150mph lol, something bad's gunna happen.

The accident of Jules Bianchi was the result of several mistakes, the rules demand to red flag the race and then let the Marshalls let the crane enters once the track is clear, and race direction only waves yellow flags, the crane gets in while the cars are still spinning, heavy rain, Jules lost control and goes under the crane, after this accident, the rules about accidents changed and the HALO was introduced to protect the drivers heads, cuz in this accident, Jules hit his head against +10 tons of steel. HALO saves Hamilton, Grosjean and Leclerc life’s, among others.
@azzifyy5988
@azzifyy5988 4 месяца назад
A few things you didn't mention. FIA investigations found that the halo would not have saved Bianchi, his death is the result of a diffuse axonal injury meaning death by rapid brain acceleration. It was also found that Bianchi didn't slow sufficiently for yellow flags and last of all the Marussia car Bianchi was driving was designed with a unique brake by wire system. The cars have a failsafe algorithm that cuts the power from this engine if the throttle and brake are held together. Data shows that Bianchi did this for 2 seconds before impact but the failsafe system is incompatible with the Marussia braking system meaning unknown to him he was still applying power while heading towards the crane.

The Sutil incident triggered yellow flags. So drivers must slow down by FIA Ruling. In the lap that passed between (Sutil spun on Lap 42 and Bianchi crashed on Lap 43) the rain was getting heavier on that corner. Alongside that, there was a marshall mistake that showed the Green Flag for a brief moment and Bianchi went full racing speed when he shouldn’t have. He aquaplained (loss of grip due to slipping in wet conditions) and went head on to the crane. Extremely unfortunate event. But his loss made F1 become a safer sport. Halo was introduced in 2018 and it has saved the lives of many drivers. He will never be forgotten. RIP Jules Bianchi

When the Bianchi crash happened they hadn't gone back to green flag racing, they were still under the safety car. Yet Bianchi managed to lose his car in exactly the same corner Sutil (I think) had just a lap before. The thing is that the recovery vehicle had only started reversing seconds before Bianchi went off the track, leading to so many 'what if's'.......what if the vehicle had remained where it was for a few seconds more........then Bianchi wouldn't have gone underneath. Yes he would have still crashed, but possibly not fatally. What if he had had the halo on his car, would he have survived then? The thing is that no one knows......and just like the deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger , F1 looked into them and great amount of safety improvements have come about becasue of these accidents. F1 is still dangerous.......but thankfully it is getting less so.

Yes, unfortunately they need to lose the best driver of all time (Senna) in an accident to realize that they needed to demand more safety for drivers and races.

to the Bianchi Incident it happened at a corner where you drive in the Dry at 220 to 240 KM/H and he spun because of Aquaplaning where the tires couldn't handle the water and he flew with I think 160 to 180 KM/H of track and by some rotten luck hit the Tracktor since neither the yellow flag was shown nor the safty car was out after a lap before the car behind him also Aquaplanned into the tirewall and just this time the Tracktor was there and since then both the Virtual Safty Car (where you can't drive faster then a specific KM/H) and Halo have been implemented, also nowadays they would never drive in such conditions, since the Race happened while a Typhoon went over Asia

Not fully accurate, the corner was under double waved yellow flags because martials and the recovery vehicle were on the track side of the barrier, the green flag shown is indicating the end of the yellow flag zone (i.e. that the next sector is clear). Biancci should have slowed to be prepared to stop but such a vaguely written rule led to drivers pushing too much hence, in the wake of this, they introduced the virtual safety car which works much more similarly to tge American full course caution.

@@Tank-o-grad I still see it as a mistake of the FIA to not directly bring out the SC or even Red in these conditions since driver take those 2 more serious then with a double waved yellow + that they let a Tracktor on the track under Racing conditions is just a disaster waiting to happen not forgetting the fact that just 8 years later again a tracktor was on the track in nearly identical conditions and Gasly nearly hit it

There's much better angles for some of these. No idea why whoever put it together decided to use fan footage. I guess a shitty attempt to avoid copyright.

During the race where Bianchi lost his life it was still safety car, but he was a little bit back on the track, so he was pushing just a little to come up with the rest of the group before racing restart...but he fall in error on the same turn of sutil and crashed with the operator machine. Destiny sometime is so bitch. Rip bianchi 🤍

For your information: Romain Grosjean fireball crash, the person who accidentally reared him was Dannil Kvyat the ex of Max's Girl Kelly Piquet daughter of 3 time World Champion Nelson Piquet.

Grosjean didn't get "reared" at all. He just wildly moved to the right after just passing Kvyyat and colided with Kvyat's front tire. Lot of sympathy went out to Grosjean after surviving that crash. But it was just one of his many wild and crazy moves on track in his F1 career.
