He totally knows the rules but it needs to be taken account that when he started in F1 only 6 drivers got points. After that too there has been multiple ways the points has been awarded during the years. So if he doesn't remember the exact current numbers, it ain't super weird. He has said that he doesn't see it as impressive anyway nowadays if someone gets a point because it's easier to get it (10th vs 6th). Also when he races he tries his hardest regardless of how many points he would get from that. 🙂

Kimi knows the rules inside out. He’s actually one of the smartest drivers on grid and took advantage of many loopholes, especially during his Mclaren years. He can take info like a sponge but can’t really communicate it to others as well. Him not giving a f also played a part as well

I feel like if you want to see more of the different F1 drivers and their more "relaxed" personalities, I definitely recommend some of the Grill The Grid challenges! Do a Kimi interview/Radio comms compilation reaction. He's a solid gem of a human being. Pure unintentional comedy genius. Fun fact: you thought he didn't know about the rules at all, but when he retired last year he was the oldest and most experienced driver on the grid. He's, I think, the only F1 driver who's raced in 3 different decades. Throughout his career he has lived through many different rule sets, and he was unsure about the points rewards in the latest rule set

I would recommend the Formula 1 Rookie of the Year 2019 video for some fun banter between Russell, Albon and Norris (three guys who have been friends for over a decade). If you are interested in checking out some of the best bromances on the grid, I'd recommend searching: -Carlos Sainz/Lando Norris -Carlos Sainz/Charles Leclerc -George Rusell/Alex Albon/Lando Norris -Daniel Ricciardo/Max Verstappen -Pierre Gasly/Yuki Tsunoda And if you are interested in checking out the individual drivers: -Max Verstappen (the prodigious but sometimes controversial driver) -Sergio Perez (the reason why Max won his first championship, very underrated) -Charles Leclerc (the poster child but always incredibly confused about everything lol) -George Russell (future World Champion. The type of guy that fans make 'the type of guy' memes about...look them up LOL) -Carlos Sainz (the smooth operator, Lando Norris' older brother/golf buddy, not afraid of acting silly) -Lando Norris (Carlos Sainz' muppet friend, the most contagious laugh, has 50 hobbies outside F1, Twitch streamer, awesome guy) -Lewis Hamilton (Legend. Still a bit of an outsider even after 7 titles, has his guard up but a lot funnier and relaxed than what people give him credit for) -Esteban Ocon (started from the bottom, used to be friends with Gasly, they had a huge fallout, now they are going to be teammates next season) -Fernando Alonso (Legend. Sarcastic to the max, has the best one-liners, he's like the uncle that's fun to be around but who you wouldn't trust your kids with) -Sebastian Vettel (Legend. Can't say enough good things about this man. An F1 nerd, super knowledgeable about rules/the sport, excellent sense of humor, the kindest dude on the grid, the responsible uncle that you would trust your kids with, cares about everyone, future FIA president hopefully) -Daniel Ricciardo (a character, a clown, hilarious, doesn't take himself too seriously but is very serious about racing, the best press conferences/interviews) -Pierre Gasly (the comeback kid, easygoing, fun dude, good sense of humor, takes good care of Yuki) -Yuki Tsunoda (protect him at all costs, only cares about food, even more lost and confused than Charles) -Alex Albon (hasn't had the best luck so far but is genuinely one of the nicest people on the grid, loves to give George crap about his topless Instagram pictures, Lando's hero) -Kimi Raikonen (Retired driver. Unbothered. Doesn't give a shit about anything outside of driving. Fans love his 'i don't care' attitude. I'm not too familiar with the other drivers.

About their athleticism - actually they don't really need a lot of forearm strength, since the cars do have power steering (unlike Indycar for example, where they do "fight" the steering wheel to turn it). They focus a lot of their training on things like the neck - since the high G-forces they experience mean their heads weigh a lot, and they need to keep them upright. Legs are also important, the pedals themselves are actually quite difficult to push. It's quite an intense sport, physically. They can lose a 6-8 pounds of weight over the course of the race (1.5 hours), due to sweating alone.

I think the extra point for fastest lap is nicer; it makes for even more competition. And to know that some championships in the past have been decided on one point, makes it very interesting. "That dude" is Kimi Raikonen, 2007 world champion and he's very popular. His nickname is The Iceman. :) But he quit 2 years ago at age 42. Daniel Ricciardo is from Australia. He's one of Max verstappen's best friends. They were also teammates for 2 years. All drivers workout, but not to gain too much muscles because they will be too heavy for the car. They mainly train to keep in shape and one thing they do train hard is their neck. Because in certain turns the G forces all come down on their neck. LJ

I’m also going to throw another name into the hat that I think you should react to! Lando Norris, definitely a fan favorite yet splits opinions with his personality, he’s a young driver that has definitely grown up during his 4 something years in f1. Is first teammate was Carlos sainz and their dynamic was really really good, I’d really like to see your take on their relationship. His second and current teammate is Daniel ricciardo and people really hyped up their potential dynamic and friendship before they got together because they were probably the funniest/goofiest characters on the grid, but any people were a bit let down in the beginning, seemingly now, it seems like they get along very well and has learned to be very good friends but that’s also a duo I’d like to see you analyze!

When there is really hard competition, like last year, you would see some mindgames in the practice sessions, but usually not. Practice is often used to find out what the best set-up is (for racing AND for qualifying) and how to approach the tyres. For instance, you could say that the last race was won by Max because of the practice sessions, because in the practice sessions on friday he and his team found out a way to make their tyres last longer in the race!
@Nathi98
@Nathi98 Год назад
To answer your question about the point system at the end: Yes, the ones they earn in Grand Prix X will carry over into Grand Prix Y. After the end of the year, you have an end total of all races driven in the same year. For example: Charles got 3rd place last weekend in the US - no fastest lap - so he got 15 points that weekend. This is topped up on the points he already got in the other race weekends driven this season. I don't remember how many he has, but it's between 200 to 250 points right now. When a new season begins, everyone restarts from 0. That way, everyone mathematically starts the racing season on equal foot.

they are incredibly fit dudes! they have to be as light as possible, while also being super strong to be able to put up with the G's that the speed of the car creates. Their necks is a part which needs to be very strong, as its not supported in the car, so the training they do for that is crazy. Their personalities is what got me interested in the sport, and the competition kept me around! So many components which are entertaining and fun, i think you will love it!! You should definitely watch more grill the grid episodes, they are a great way to see a lot of drivers from the grid in one video!
@michelle-4106
@michelle-4106 Год назад
A big part of the strength f1 drivers need is actually in their necks! As the car turns, their bodies want to keep going straight and the neck takes a large part of those immense g forces. Daniel Ric mentioned once that most don't notice but once you know, you'll see that all the drivers have quite big necks. Because (as little as possible) weight is important for the speed of the car but strength is needed to drive them, the drivers have intense and very specific diets and training routines- also because they can lose up to 5 kilos (Lewis at least) in one race due to immense sweating

Yes I think you would absolutely enjoy watching F1. Not only do you get a plethora of characters both as mainstays in the sport but also others who come and go through the sport, but you also get to witness how the way fans perceive drivers and how that perception changes over time (think face and heel in wrestling, but usually not very grounded in reality and instead grounded in the bias formed from the overwhelmingly intense passion people have for this sport).

As a fan of both kpop and Formula 1, I'm enjoying the content :) I got into F1 with the Senna documentary from 2010 and the Drive to Survive series. DTS is a great way to catch up and understand the drama/flow of an F1 season, as well as learn all about the people. As a Canadian, the current Canadians in F1 are pretty hard to root for, particularly the Stroll family. Nicholas Latifi (the Quebecois) seems like a nice guy, but not a great driver. Just 20 years ago, we did not get much of an idea about who these people are and what they feel.

When it comes to personalities in sports f1 is premium. I, just like you fell in love with the ufc because of the personality side of it, the same way I fell in love with f1. There is just so much content on all the drivers. Especially the last 5 years or so it has blown up with many new interesting characters added along with f1 and all the teams doing a lot better at showing that side of the drivers, that’s has resulted in a massive fan base increase. And when I say massive I mean it. The sport went from beginning to die out with primarily older generations watching the sport to it becoming so insanely popular with today’s teenagers and young adults. The Netflix series “Drive to survive” is a huge reason as to why that’s the case

So general stuff here (yes I'm super late but I've watched F1 my whole life so this excites me) there are 3 qualifying sessions. 2 on Friday, 1 on Saturday before Qualifying takes place. There are no points awarded for any of the practice or qualifying sessions. Qualifying takes place over 3 stints (Q1, Q2, Q3), the first 2 remove the 5 bottom placed drivers from both stints , and the 3rd is a top 10 shootout. The drivers have to train incredibly hard mostly to maintain lean muscle as well as core and neck strength due to the 4-5 g they endure in corners. They can also lose like 7-8kg in a race from how hot they get so they train like endurance athletes as well. As for more channels to follow in regards to F1, I suggest chainbearf1, WTF1, and Tommo. They all have great F1 related videos!

Friday, pilots AND TEAMS practice.. They find the best setups for the car, how does the tires degrade after some laps, etc. And pilots do practice their laps and tell what they "like" or not in the car, so the setup gets optimized for their driving - but also how to optimize the car overall. Saturday, they go Qualify. Basicly, they do hotlaps (timed laps) with the "Qualifying Setup" they found on training sessions.. Who does the fastest lap in the session, starts first in the race. Second fastest, startsxsecond, and so on. (They now divide Quali sessions in 3, so they "eliminate" (or sort out the last 5 positions on the Grid) on Q1. Then the 15 cars go to Q2 to sort out the 11-15 positions on the grid for race day.. Then the last 10 "survivors" go for Q3 session to establish the final 10 positions on the grid. Sunday.. Race day. Let the magic happen.

Love that you are doing the F1 drivers videos and finding out more about this sport. Their personalities definitely make the sport a lot more real and relatable for fans. It is a very technical sport and there is a huge amount that you can learn. WTF1 is a great YT channel for content about the sport and they have quite a few info videos too. Please can you analyze 4-time world champ Sebastian Vettel? It would be very interesting if you could compare his interviews from earlier in his career to the ones now, they will be fascinating, as there has been a big shift in him and how he is perceived both among the other drivers and the fans. Would love you to do more on Carlos Sainz and to anaylze Daniel Ricciardo, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso. In fact if you could do most of the grid, it would be great. They have a lot of videos where they interact with their team mates and I think those are interesting as you can see different parts of their personalities emerge. You have done a video Max Verstappen, but it would be interesting for you to analyze his team mate Sergio (Checo) Perez and them together and compare that to his interaction with his previous team mates too, like you did with Charles and Carlos. The fastest lap point makes things interesting. Last weekend George Russel was sitting in 5th but with a massive gap to the guy in 6th. Enough for him to pit, put on the fastest soft tyres and come back out still in 5th. Had did this on the second last lap, giving him the last lap to to go for fastest. Which he did. Giving him an extra point. No one else was in a position to switch to softs and being on older tyres couldn't go for the fastest lap. Every point counts. Especially as we are getting to the end of the season.

Actually most drivers like an over steered car more (to an extent) then an under steered car, as an over steered car it is usually the faster one. Normal road cars (especially front wheeled drived) are usually under steered as they are easier to control when they loose grip a bit.

The rules when it comes to pints is pretty simple. There are somewhere between 16-24 races on a season, and each race they get the points as the video explained. If you sum up all the points on all the races, whoever has the most is world champion. There is also the constructors championship. There are 10 teams with two drivers each, so for the constructors championship you sum up all the points from both drivers, and the team with most points wins.

You need to check Carlos and Lando together. They're really good friends and they were teammates in McLaren. Also, Daniel and Lando are in the same team now and they're funny together too.

This video is all over the place. It's aimed at both complete newbies of the sport and people with a bit of knowledge. Locking up and flatspotting if one of the most common things that happens in races and it's important to know how it works to understand what's happening.

Just remember, these F1 cars can do 5+g on braking and cornering, about 3g on accel maximum. Sometimes like 130r at Suzuka, the lateral G force is about 6 i think(as of the 2020 cars) The teams 100% disassemble and re-build the cars every event and MUST be able to show the FIA ANY info requested on any parts used or changed whenever asked. Also, fast as these cars are, they are apparently the length and width of a Ford F150. Clearly far shorter, but dang man. The size of a F150, yet capable of 200mph to 50mph in about 3.7seconds.

Youngest Driver currently on the grid is japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda who races for Williams (22 years old) and oldest is spanish driver Fernando Alonso driving for Alpine (41 years old). There's definitly a lot of new, young drivers this season. Many of them being in their early-mid twenties. Most drivers nowdays retire once they are around 40 years old give or take. Also the only canadian drivers on the grid are Lance Stroll (guy in the pink suit) and Nicholas Latifi. Daniel Ricciardo is australian.

Another thing about the fastest lap, if you don't finish in the top 10 you don't get the point but it might be just as important to steal that point away from someone else

2:35 yeah that rule gives an extra dimension to the racing. You'd have to pit for new tyres to get the fastest lap, but a pit stop could go wrong and you could lose a position. But when the risk is low you'll see people going for it, because multiple championships have already been decided by just 1 point

Hahahah "this guy doesn't even know the rules. That's Kimi and he doesn't care about anything related to media. So he comes off as either really blunt or just UHHHHs his way through every interaction. But he's a legend for not caring, and was called the Iceman. He retired last year. Edit: and yes, he probably has no idea what the rules are.

Thise drivers is the 20 best drivers in the entire world. You can trust, that they know all about thise cars and circuits. And the guy you thought was a joke, Kimi Reikkonen, he is maby the one who knows the most about it. He have bin in the sport for a very long time, and he does his work in to a creasy level. And he is a world champion driving a Ferrari.
