Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through RU-vid videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

I think we are quite comfortable with Baked or Jacket potato. We love to have multiple words for the same thing. It gives us options and the ability to argue about which is right and look down on those who use the wrong one. If we can't think of another word we just have different ways to pronounce it.

A chef who primarily makes sauces is called a sauté chef. (Aka saucier or sauce chef).

In fact, the current, most popular, commercial banana, was developed at Chatsworth. Hence it is called the Cavendish variety, after the family name of the Duke of Devonshire.

Since the 1950's the variety known as the cavendish is the main commercially grown variety of banana. Before that it was the Gros Michel, considered far superior and much sweeter. But over time a disease spread and wiped out Gros Michel farms. They are not extinct but they aren't grown commercially.

Yes, the Cavendish variety being developed at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. You can still visit the greenhouses there. The commercial banana world is pretty keen to come up with new varieties that are more disease resistant than the Cavendish.

Near the end reminds me of people who try and push eating insects. Have you ever cleaned out a space where insects have been? All the insect crap rolling around? Well, that's what you're eating when you eat insects. They don't conveniently defecate everything they've eaten, just before being killed and consumed, or ground into insect 'flour'.

@@georgecarlinismytribe I can remember going to a college dinner many years ago when whitebait was the starter. The woman I was sitting next to removed the heads and tails of all the fish and filleted them all. It took her a very long time and there was not much left to eat.

Typical British humour at 2.30 😂 Only tried pheasant once & it was lovely! Try it. Glad i tried it, it's like between chicken & duck. Now i understand why pheasant was so widely poached back in the day & lords of manors hated poachers so much of the hunting on their land. Duck is ok but couldn't eat 3 pieces which was strange.

The reason why people think you believe Philomena Cunk to be real is because you comment on the video as if it were real. You seem to be unaware that people just watch it for fun, but you engage with her content as if she means it. You just don't get it Connor. This is a common problem with American reactors and the reason why we say Americans don't get irony.
