If you want WILTY at its best look for episodes with Bob Mortimer in them, they are the best. I'd advise watching the "lies" before reading his autobiography; just saying😄

Not many shows are as consistently hilarious as WILTY, the banter between Mack, Mitchell and Brydon is enough to make it a great show but when you get great guests like Bob Mortimer, Greg Davies or Kevin Bridges it lifts it to another level. You will not believe some of the stories that have been true.

'That guy' is David Mitchell and he's hilarious. In recent years he seems to generally be found on panel shows but he first became popular for his sketch shows (Mitchell and Webb) and one of the best TV comedy series ever, Peep Show, along with comedy partner, Robert Webb. If you ever find yourself wanting to get into a new comedy series, I promise Peep Show will have you in stitches. There are plenty of clips online but you should watch it in full from the beginning if you possibly can.

"That guy" is David Mitchell and you should search "David Mitchell Rants" as they are awesome. As for WILTY, Greg Davies, Kevin Bridges, and Bob Mortimer are three you should definitely seek out. EDIT - "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" was a UK show first, which might explain why you feel that it is similar to WILTY. Here in the UK, the comedy panel shows don't really concern themselves with the scores as it is more about just trying to make each other laugh.
@Dunk1970
@Dunk1970 2 года назад
Coincidentally, I think Who's Line Is It Anyway was the first show where points stopped mattering to the contestants. When it first aired there was some contestants caring and then when the winner had to go up and read the credits in the style of Clive Anderson's choosing, I think that turned winning into a booby prise. Likewise, decades ago I recall Ian Hislop getting a bit frustrated at losing most weeks on HIGNFY. Back then a running tally was kept of who'd won most episodes and therefore the series. Someone somewhere worked out that the comedy answers were better than the correct answers. I have to say I have stopped watching that one now though, as I think Hislop lives a bit too much in his dour bias.

There's a reason why "Who's Line Is It Anyway" has a feel of these British panel shows with mutliple comedians on. Which is because it started as a BBC Radio show, then went to TV in the UK and then went to America. A lot of the comedians on the American version had previously been on the UK one. Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie being two of my favourites.

Whose Line is it Anyway was also a British show that got imported to the USA. Since you are just watching a clip you miss the part that lets you know that the contestants don't know what is on the cards ahead of time so they have to make up all the details of the lie on the spot. Team captains are Lee Mack and David Mitchell. David was part of the comedy duo of Mitchell & Webb, and probably most famous for the TV sketch show Peep Show.

For Would I Lie To You, I definitely would suggest a compilation of Bob Mortimer's appearances. (Sorry, mistyped before.) Keep in mind, the point of the show it to get the other team to guess wrong, so even if it seems someone is lying, they may just be putting on a bit of a show. As far as I know you're not allowed to actually lie if you have a true fact, but you might be able to embellish and you can definitely pause and stumble and all that to throw people off. The big True or Lie behind the contestant isn't controlled by them, so for Lee Mack to pull off that trick he had to collude with the producers. It might even have been their idea in the first place. The other contestant you were asking about is David Mitchell. I don't think he does stand-up but he does a lot of comedy skit shows and he's all over the panel shows. Very much worth watching.

As a few have already said you simply have to watch Bob Mortimer on WILTY. He’s one of the most naturally funny men on the planet.

I've seen a few reaction videos of this show from Americans and Canadians, and they have all enjoyed it. An extra feature of the show is that they bring someone on and each of the team mates from one side have to convince the other team that they have a connection to that person.
