Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through RU-vid videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

The Diana one is that Prince Philip organised her assassination to stop her marrying Dodi Fayed, because somehow having a muslim half sibling would cause a problem for the succession of Prince William. The motive is nonsense, once divorced she had no royal status, any further child would have no royal status. She was nothing like Megan in her attitude to the family, her approach remained supportive of her sons role, just not Charles. The crucial fact is that the only person wearing a seat belt survived, the other three died. Quite how any killer prevented them putting on a seat belt is beyond me. On top of which it was an unplanned journey on an unplanned route, that's why the driver had been drinking, he thought he was done for the day.

I used to have a flatmate who believed that that there really was a government conspiracy to have Diana killed because it was felt that the mother of the future head of the Church of England was not a good look, but then she had that car crash which did the job for them.

and most of the basic themes of the Diana conspiracy have sprung from the fevered guilt ridden imagination of Dodi's dad, Mohammed Al Fayed. (It's worth noting that the crash occurred while Diana and Al-Fayed were being driven by an Al-Fayed employee in an Al-Fayed car from an Al-Fayed hotel to an Al-Fayed house. ) So they killed Diana and Dodi because this man she had known for 7 weeks was allegedly going to marry her and she;d be muslim and this would cause all sorts of issues etc etc. ANd yet DIana started dating Dodi on the rebound from her previous boyfriend she had been seeing for 18 months or more, Dr Haznat Khan, also muslim, and they had talked of marriage and Diana converting to Islam, and yet throughout their whole relationship, they both remained very much alive, Haznat Khan is still alive now.

The worse thing about Mitchell and Webb is it was too succesful for its own good, because of how good it was most of the main cast got opportunities to do other stuff that they were no longer available to make more episodes of the show. Olivia Colman in particular went on to become an Oscar-winning actress and David Mitchell is a regular on most comedy panel shows and captain on the comedy panel show "would I lie to you", a show that I highly recommend you check out, although once you go down that rabbit hole you will easily spend days watching clips.

This is, of course, not true. Olivia Colman on the show was actually Dora Schmidt, and a substitute was found for David Mitchell on various comedy panel shows. Shmidt is now employed to process chickens, ensuring there is no poo on them, and Mitchell is in a care home for the elderly, knitting a cape for King Charles's coronation. Don't believe everything you see or read.

Olivia Colman didn't see that level of success for over a decade after the show stopped airing and Robert Webb basically didn't do anything for years. I can only imagine that they simply got bored because you can only do so many skits.

@@juice6521 Sketch shows are eye-wateringly expensive to mount - networks are turning to cheaper comedy and pumping whatever cash they have into prime-time drama instead. Also, RW developed a severe alcohol addiction, which I imagine made writing, producing, rehearsing, and recording rather difficult to sustain

I remember waking up to the news on the radio that day and even as they were reading the headlines and I was taking it in I wondered how soon there would be a conspiracy theory. I actually startled myself at how quickly I went from being asleep to that thought.

I walked into a pub I didn't know, and the whole thing was on the telly there, including live broadcasts from the scene. I asked what was going on and was told Diana had died. My response was “Has the daft tart killed herself successfully this time?”. This comment was not met entirely favourably.

The clip explains everything about the Princess Diana conspiracy theory. It is not possible for her to have died in a straightforward accident, therefore it must have been arranged. It must have been ordered by Prince Philip (because he is racist), and it must mean that Diana was pregnant with her baby by her Muslim boyfriend. The conspiracy involves the driver of the car changing to a different car at the last moment, and the driver being drunk, and Princess Diana herself refusing to wear a seatbelt. The driver had to choose to drive through that specific tunnel, because other roads have crashed deflection barriers.

I think the mistake in looking for logic in a conspiracy theory is that you're looking for logic in a conspiracy theory. Conspiracy theories are what you turn to when logic and evidence don't give you the answers you want, ie. the ones that reinforce your pre-existing self-serving worldview. A good test for whether something is a conspiracy theory is to ask the adherent if they can imagine any possible evidence that would cause them to change their conclusion ("When the facts change, I change my opinion. What do you do, sir?"). Conspiracy theorists inevitably turn every contradictory fact into further proof of their already-held belief, much in the same way that, say, a theist will inevitably fall back on the "God works in mysterious ways" catch-all.

Thats why in law its called 'criminal conspiricy'. When logic and evidence are applied it becomes factual in the eyes of the court. Though logic and evidence are vital componants to confirm a persons bias. Beit a judge, a jury or a member of the lay public.

Think I'm with Jimmy Carr on this one [Diana]. Think many abroad might have difficulty understanding just how big a deal it was at the time, it was worse than when Take That broke up in terms of public weeping, mourning and Aunties being all confuddled..

If you’re discovering British comedy. There’s a series you neeeeed to see. The show is called the Thick of It. Anything with the character Malcolm Tucker. The swearing is like watching Shakespeare. But in angry Scottish.

All you need to be successful conspiracy theorist is to know about 5% of the facts on any given subject, then think because you know that 5%, you know it all.

@@kingrobert1st The best way is to study them for yourself. I don't pretend to understand physics, but I can read the synopsis of papers to ascertain their findings. What are their peer reviews? Are the papers in a reputable publication, like "Science?" How many scientists, not lay-people on RU-vid, actually agree with them? If you are getting your facts for "Joe "Turkey Hunt" Jone's website on RU-vid, might want to doubt a bit.

They didn't hit the oncoming car, it hit a pillar in the tunnel. It was 'suspected' he was temporarily blinded by the lights from an oncoming car.

I was simply a trip to KFC or McDonalds. It doesn't matter if you are a bazillionaire or working class, you cannot refuse your loved one that. I have French cameramen chasing me all the time. Bang, bang and a future TV producer goes down. The only reason I think it was on purpose and for a single person is because no company made a profit out of it. Case solved.

Great reaction - you have a very good sense of humor, sir! A real fun sit-com is "Peep Show" made by the same comedians! It's sic and dark and fun! Yeah I agree - the Diana skit aged poorly, real tragic death is maybe not that fun to make jokes about. But the Alien and Moon stuff were great!

As with all theories, corroborating heresay as "fact" and confirming numerous participants is the core of the issue.

So the camera's were broken the person's in the white car knew they had caused a crash and left the scene. There was an un-shielded lamp at the tunnel entrance and aliens killed them. Makes just as much sense as your guff.

I'm British but was teaching in a school in Pakistan when Diana died. It seemed pretty widely believed there that she was killed to stop her marrying a Muslim. There never seemed any need for evidence to support the belief beyond a general feeling that the West has treated Muslims badly, supports Israel, had invaded Iraq etc (strangely tied to a lot of affection for Britain to)..

People there seemed to have very conflicted feelings about Britain, on the one hand they seemed to have affection for Britain (not to anything!) and appreciate links with Britain, this even seemed to border for some people on nostalgia for the colonial past,, on the other hand this cynicism (with reason) and paranoia about western motives that meant the majority of people readily believed the British secret service would kill Diana just because she was going to marry a Muslim.

Had dodi Fyad used his normal driver and normal car,they would be both be still alive,he swapped drivers at the last minute,the new driver was already drunk and the new car wasn’t a armoured car,yet they still kept trying to blame prince Philip,dodi fyad wasn’t having a relationship with Diana,she was having an affair with a surgeon.
