Thank you for watching me, a humble American, react to Agro's Cartoon Connection 'Agro Adults Only'. This was very funny to me. Thanks for subscribing for more Aussie content!
Jamie spent a lot of time in our tiny Queensland town, he was funny and very nice ... eventually they forced him off kid's TV. Quite a few of his jokes made it to air, the executives were not amused ... the surprisingly large adult audience loved him.
Na, most of it was out takes, even for 80s Australia this was too much for on air. But some managed to get through and yeah the kids loved it but gave the parents and babysitters something to look forward to as well. Unfortunately you wouldn't get away with what went on back then these days. I don't think Anne-Marie was too offended but these days that's not the point anymore.
@@utha2665 and that is what is sad, all the great humour from the 70's through to 2000 is lost on this new generation because the naughties generation is too bloody frail that they cant handle this kind of humour anymore and that is truly a shame.
@@FuryousD Yeah, I'm against stuff that is outright ridiculing other races, but most is self deprecating humour and stuff that poor Ann-Marie had to put up with I'm she would have found funny. What really annoys me though are those that get offended on someone else's behalf, especially when they find it funny.
@@utha2665 oh yea those people are the fucking worst, like do those people not get that the people they are being offender for aren't actually offended by it most of the time?.
Agro rocked!! Hey Hey It's Saturday rocked with Ozzy. Aussie kids/adults loved these shows. Growing up in the 80's/ 90's was magic on Aussie TV. Nothing like these shows on TV now. It's a bloody shame.
Im an American married to an Aussie and living in Australia. When I told him about this video he told me he'd watch Agro every morning before school. This was hilarious!
I love Agro and Claude the Crow. Kids would send in drawing and cartoons as well as bandaids and toe nail clippings. He would sniff the bandaids and comment on how good/ rotten they were. And then his off sider Shirl the Curl (RIP sweet man) would tip the envelope up and he would chew the nail clippings. If you wanted mum to scream THATS DISGUSTING! then you had a great arvo of giggling before dinner....then Dr Who and The Goodies over on ABC at 6pm. The 80s arvo Aussie TV was a great, relaxing escape. Congrats to you for your wonderful baby boy, Tassie Joy
Ah memories. I grew up watching Agro's Cartoon Connection in the 90s. I remember him being very cheeky, but as a kid it didn't land. And I'm sure all his worst behaviour was edited out. So fun to watch this 😄
Agro is pronounced "aggro", as in aggravation/agitation. He was voiced by the perennially 'grumpy middle-aged man' Jamie Dunn. Yes, we know Bert & Ernie, lol. Sesame Street has been a TV institution since way back in the early 70s when I was a little kid. We know a lot more of America's popular culture than Americans know of ours 🙂
She said "stuff me!" & he replied "might as well" (when still under the table) then "everybody else has!" when he popped back up. Yes we know Bert & Ernie, we grow up watching mostly American tv & movies. His name is Agro (slang for aggressive).
Ryan bro I have gotta tell ya mate, Happy Arvo from Sydney bud 🤣 Hey Thanks for showing the world how great we are ✊ mate, me an me missus have never gotten into reactions UNTIL I came across your channel. Your funny bro, you're welcome down under, Anytime, from one of the lads. ✌️
Alot of the outtakes where adults only, but generally he was well behaved ( it was a kids cartoon show after all lol ) cracks me up every damn time I see it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Agro-vation was his full name & Jamie Dunn was the puppeteer and voice. I was in the audience for the recording of the show, but Fiona MacDonald was the co-host back then. I was 11. Yes, I am that old. Any dirty jokes flew over my head. There was a type of rehearsal and then there was a lot of improvisation. Funnily enough, Play School was filmed like that. A dear friend became one of the presenters & I was devastated to learn Bettina swears like a wharfie. 💔
I used to have some very old episodes of Playschool that I had taped for my (now 25 year old) daughter. I recall one with John Hamblin clearly off his face, making innuendoes and trying to keep it together with Trisha Goddard.
"Bettina"? Do you mean Benita? If so, BS on the swearing! I did impro with her for years, at an adult venue, where most people in the cast swore & there was constant s** inuendo, but Benita never took part. She was much better suited to judging & performing at the high school impro comps than the adult venue, just wasn't part of her make up to swear, even in a setting where it was the norm
@@mehere8038 Yes, I meant Benita! I can assure you she swore like a sailor when doing the rehearsal. Simon Burke would be mucking around trying to break focus.
@@sherrylovegood well we'd never intentionally sabotage stuff, so I can't really comment as to how she'd respond to that, but I certainly know what her natural persona was & how she behaved in our warm up, training & on stage in an adult setting & it's not consistent with that. She loved that everyone recognised her as Benita from playschool & always treated that image she had spent a lifetime building with the upmost respect. Additionally, that really was just who she was. I remember the first time I asked her if she would play in a team I was putting together, I felt quite intimidated to do so, her being such a legend, but she said yes & thanked me for inviting her & was clearly legitamately appreciative. She was fully able to respond to an adult audience, but she was always "clean" in how she did (and said no to joining teams with people who performed in ways not consistant with her style). I haven't seen her for years now, but she certainly made an impression on me as a person. She really was what you saw on playschool in real life, just a genuine, good person. At the school comps, she always had to be put on "entertainment" when judging, cause she was just too "nice" & would score too high to be on narative or technique & outside performance time, she would spend as long possible just being present & letting the kids/teens talk to her or do photos or whatever. Was just who she was, just a lovely, caring person who really appreciated the chances she'd had in life & the respect she had from so many generations & she never betrayed that. Some people weren't overly impressed with her improvising abilities, but no-one ever faulted her character & sincerity as a person. She was just a lovely person to spend time with (and still is I assume, I just haven't personally seen her for years)
Jaimie Dunn AKA Agro still is around today..mainly on the radio but Agro is a institution here in OZ...jaimie live up on the Sunshine Coast here in Queensland
Alot of this was actually aired and we miss agro so much... he was a huge part of my childhood... now he actually has pulled the puppet back out and does a adults only live show
Most, (not all) of this was actually aired, Agro was always very irreverent and liked to play on the edge. Most of his antics went over the kids heads but the adults got it
From memory, he was made from an old bath mat. At this time on Aussie TV there were a number of hand puppets on various shows, including some adult ones. This is from the yearly 'outtakes' video, at one point Anne-Marie says to the camera 'this better not appear on the Christmas show", referring to this outtake video.
P.S. I forgot about Tomis the Tom cat. He was my 1st black cat, 33 years ago. He would be walking through the lounge room, the second Agro was on the TV Tommis would stop sit & watch until Agro was gone he would continue to where he was going
Sadly today's audience just wouldn't get it.. Heck they tried to bring back Full House with Fuller House and I think that only lasted 3 seasons, and that seams to be tame jokes compared to Agro...
His full name is Agro Vation + agrovation, which is what he gave his co-hosts! Loved the show growing up, after school every day it was a must see show!
The puppet they used for Agro was a kids puppet of Animal from the Muppets. I remember when I was a kid seeing them at the Ekka (the Brisbane Exhibition) back in the 70s.
Agro the puppet was voiced by Jaime Dunn. Agro was made out of an old shower / bath mat. Poor Anne-marie was embarrassed soooo many times. So there are plenty of out-takes because of swearing and sexual inuendos!!! Bloody funny shit though!!!! Agro is short for aggravating. Dirty man that Jaime... cheers Ausgranny 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Edit bit... want more aussie humour?? Try the original Fast Forward...Hahahahahahahahahaha
The bath matt was a joke origin. He's actually a replica Animal Muppet that was shaved and thrown in a dirty wash and then into a drier. If you need proof, just compare the eyebrows.
Argh! Stoked you found Agro! We were just saying yesterday we should send you some Agro out-takes so you can see why us Aussies grow up so awesome 😅😂 we used to put a big picture of Agros face on top of our stack hats (helmets) to stop magpies swooping on the way to school!
Hey there Ryan and everyone. Some of these clips were shown on air. The ones with the dog were. I remember Agro saying "go to the cartoon" whilst the dog had taken the puppet away. The only thing they could not show was the "swearing". Also, Agro was always making jokes about Anne Maree's sex life or lack of. He would joke that she was unattractive because she was too thin. She would react to it and most of it went to air. He would tease her about her bleaching her hair. Eventually there was a falling out between them and she was replaced by another woman. The second girl Teresa was not flustered as much by him. There was a third girl, Holly who worked at the same time as the second one, kind of like a junior sidekick. Holly ended up getting some acting roles on television. Agro started out on an afternoon children's show called 'Wombat'. His full name is Agro Vasion. Check out this clip from another show. This was even shown on "Amazing Videos" in America. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JUz93v_s18A.html By the way, I do not condone the treatment of the kangaroo or the practice of using animals in such ways. I didn't like it when I was a child either. I feel bad for laughing at the monster though. The American show interviewed him, and he claimed that his life was in peril. I felt sorry for the kangaroo, and I hated the stupid monster character, so I laughed and laughed. I only used to watch the show because they would show the Transformers cartoon. Speaking of cartoons, Agro used to show Sailor Moon. One week Teresa dressed up as Sailor Moon and Holly as Sailor Mercury. Maybe this was how she was seen as an actress. lol - link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HSrtIrVCm64.html She was in "Pizza" and "Home and Away". "Home and Away" was the show that Chris Hemsworth was on. Rebel Wilson was in "Pizza". Here is a link to "Pizza" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l7nQvV3BGCc.html
Ryan ,you radiate joy & love, intellect ,curiosity & I send blessings to you & your family, especially your new son. do not loose your radiant happiness. warm regards Austrev=from Australia. Blessings.
In Australia "Aggro" is short for "Aggravated" or "Aggressive", depending on context and intensity. Aggro was perennially bad tempered, thus the moniker.
Loved watching Agro and the outtakes are hilarious. Jamie, the voice behind Agro was also heard on the breakfast show on B105, and I loved listening to him when going to work in the morning. Saw him and his partner in crime Terry at the Queensland Ekka (this is like a fate), he was a scream. Great reaction brought back many fun memories, so thanks❤️
A lot of kids' shows make tapes/DVDs of outtakes like this and give them out to the crew each Christmas. Sometimes when making material for children you have to let off a little steam.
The ABC would make a Christmas tape every year for staff, full of outtakes and other silly or 'naughty' stuff. I remember seeing it a few times via friends of my parents in the 80s.
I loved the naughty health promotion campaign that used Aggro to encourage using seatbelts on children in cars: "Have you belted your kids today?" Funny/aggressive/wrong - but got the message across to adults perfectly!
Showing my age here - but as a teen myself and friends performed on Agro’s show - but when Agro was a presenter in show called Wombat. An after school kids show. We were part of the The Fame Agency (singing, dancing acting school), that is still around today, now called The Fame Theatre Company. The “creator” behind Agro, Jamie Dunn, was also involved in “Boris the Black Knight” on Boris’s Breakfast Show in the mornings before school. Both in the same network (BTQ7 - the Brisbane studios of Australia’s Channel 7). Jamie Dunn then moved into radio. A station that was then relatively new called B105. Their studio used to be opposite the head office/training school for Fame. Jamie arranged for us to go into the station and record voiceovers and station ID’s and in return gave free advertising to our school holiday shows in our little “theatre” across the street. We always sold out all 10 shows a week!
Glad you corrected from "Are go" to Agro!!! Agro was an Eighties Icon... Making appearances on many late night talk shows as well as "The Morning Show" Yes a Lot of Adult humour went out live going over most kids heads whilst giving adults something to laugh about while their kids watched Saturday morning Cartoons as well as weekday afternoons on a show called "Wombat". Agro won 7 consecutive Logies (Australian TV Awards) in the 90's and came out of retirement in 2019 to do Adult Only stage shows.
I was on the show once when I was a little girl to compete in a competition with a few other kids. I use to live at the base of Mount Cootha where channel 7 studio was along with other tv studios. And I met the old lady who made Agro lol she said she used her old bath mat to create the famous "AGRO"😁 That was around 43 years ago 😳
Agro - short for Agro-Vation. And he's made out of a bath mat. He still does appearances in shopping centres etc. I never missed his shows, always a good laugh!
" Wolf Creek is not directly based on a true story, although a title at the start says, 'based on actual events'. It was suggested partly by the gruesome details of the backpacker murders committed by Ivan Milat in the 1990s, but these murders were committed in a state forest near Sydney."
The bummer with that is it’s not PC. I loved that show. Jonah was every naughty Tongan boy I taught without a mother. Chris Lilley is a genius, but it is considered “black face”. Everything has to be so sanitised these days. 😩
The good old days when TV was good well at lest it was sometimes ... just all propaganda and lies theses days TV is just there to fill your head with BS now, anyway thank you Ryan for bringing back some good memories good shit bro.
I was a little kid when this was on air. All those jokes definitely went over my head. I remember thinking he was a bully and a jerk to Ann-Marie. I was there for the cartoons 😂
I think they thought Agro was just too funny as a kids program so they made an adults version of it, as most programs were quite tame in the 80s and early 90s in Oz. Another few Aussie shows are Fast Forward, and Con the fruiterer, Kylie Mole aswell. She could be in with Fast Forward I think.
Agro was a legend .... named on a bath mat. Tune into our Bathurst car racing. It's legendary. 70s through to now. Also absailing rock fishing. It's nuts man Davi b
Mum from Australia. I spent my late teenage years watching Agro and Ann Marie. His name is Agro as in Agro Vation. Many times there were segments made for late night adult programs so please don't think that all of this went on to childrens programs.
