A factor in the resentment felt by Australian troops is the fact that the US servicemen made it known that they had arrived to "save" Australia, inferring (or stating) that Aussie troops were inferior. Considering that they had seen a couple of years fighting in North Africa (with considerable success), and being kicked around in Greece and Crete, they were in no mood to take a step backwards against the US troops, who had yet to see any enemy at all.

I knew a bit about the battle of Brisbane but this was interesting because it also covered what was happening at the same time in England, which I didn't really know about.

Another fact hidden from Americans 42 US soldiers were sentenced to death for war crimes in France 1945 they needed a hangman a soldier lied & said he had experience he got the job🙄 He made the hatch to small they hit the sides & didn’t break necks some took 22 minutes to die😳That same hangman went to Nuremberg & hung 27 Nazis for the entire Holocaust botching most 1 was that horrific the Jewish survivors pled for his mercy! The top Nazi Ghoring was slipped a cyanide pill to die peacefully he was guarded by US troops🙄16 yrs later Werner Von Braun & Kurt Debus show up as NASA directors then a Nazi Hunters” investigation revealed USA gave 1600 Nazis immunity in USA behind their allies backs.🇺🇸👺27 Nazis vs 42 Americans😂

Churchill wanted to send resources to India rather than to defend Australia Most of our forces were in the Middle East fighting the Germans and Italians when Japan entered the war As the Japanese pushed in closer to Australia our PM John Curtin ordered all our forces back to Australia As the troop ships were sailing home across the Indian Ocean Churchill ordered them to change course for India He drew up the "Brisbane Line" an arbitrary line across Australia saying we would be okay to lose half the country - he said we could lose this, and by that time we'd have the Americans here to recapture it back Curtain stood up to Churchill (and Roosevelt) and ordered the ships be turned back to Australia - which was what happened

My mum grew up in Sydney during those times, She told me about the Yankees had the money and would date Aussie women which caused a lot angst . She later married my dad a Aussie return soldier who served in New Guinea. He did team up with the Yankees in the Solomon islands and told me he had a great time serving with the Americans 👍

My mum was born in Mildura in 1941 her father was the only provider for he’s parents & ran orange farm so he’s 2 Brothers enlisted they’re both Rats of Tobruk but My GF was sent to Brisbane to defend against Japanese invasion, He was at the exchange when the Aussie was killed he’s letters say they hunted Americans for weeks sending 100s home who lied & said their injuries were from fighting in PNG, USA had to move their whole base & 🇦🇺Agreed to never speak of it & no investigations or charges will be laid, unfortunately he was killed in PNG 42/43 my mum never met him.

Australia been fighting war in two areas since 1939 USA joined war in late1941. USA servicemen paid heaps more than Aussies and taunted Aussie soldiers about having more access to our local girls being able to supply luxury gifts in short supply The adage was Yanks over paid, over sexed and over here. Mainly both nation cooperated well
