I met him once in a hotel lobby, he had his daughter with him, she was still a baby, he was such a nice man, spoke to me for a few minutes. He also queued for hours to see the Queen’s lying in state just like any member of the public. My nieces also met him and he was so nice to them.

My 12 year old German nephew just visited a 3 week long Brazilian football camp. He got it as a reward for not having missed a single match (Saturday mornings) this last year. You'd be amazed in what ways you can manipulate a ball / shot 😮😂 Fortunately he additionally has a proud auntie (me) who is living near Barcelona, so in his fall vacations he will be visiting me and we will watch a FC Barcelona match or at least a free training ⚽ As for David's fame....it didn't do any harm that he's got a handsome face and an athlete's body and he married (and is still married to) a Spice girl.... and when I met him in 2008 he was quite charming 😅

He has OCD. Which back then he channelled into perfecting the free kick. And he did. He was a specialist. He admitted he would just practice them over and over again for hours. Which is why you get what you’re seeing. He was a master at that perfect curve into the net. Truly talented.

The original video is from the Premier League channel, so all of these goals were scored in the Premier league. This misses many good goals scored in Spain, the USA or for the England National team. Arguably his best goal in terms of being meaningful was a free kick for England that meant we secured qualification to go to the 2002 World Cup.

A lad from Essex who loved football. I bet he practised for years trying to score goals from anywhere on the pitch, just like a snooker player would practise shots from anywhere on the table. The power and accuracy of his kick is pure skill.

in Football, there is an expression "Top Bins" which stems from, in training, you'd hang some containers (trash cans, smaller nets, hoops) from the corners of the Cross Bar and just aim at them all day, Keeper isn't ever saving top bins no matter their skill level.

manchester united in the 90s was lightning in a bottle. beckham on the right, giggs on the left, scholes and keane in the middle, nevilles at the back, york and cole up front. the combination was much greater than the sum of the parts. and solskjaer, the super sub! and schmiechel in goal! it was like a 12th player on the pitch

David Robert Joseph Beckham OBE born 2 May 1975 is an English former professional footballer, the president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF and co-owner of Salford City. Primarily a right winger and known for his range of passing, crossing ability and free-kick taking, Beckham has been hailed as one of the greatest and most recognisable midfielders of his generation, as well as one of the best free-kick takers of all time. He won 19 major trophies in his career, and is the first English player to win league titles in four different countries: England, Spain, the United States and France.
@Rokurokubi83

Beckham was a free-kick specialist. He actually played mid-field rather than striker, as a mid fielder he would pick out good tactical passes and get the ball upfield. He could land a ball at your feet from half a pitch away his accuracy was so good. He had great vision too, he created so many goal scoring opportunities for team mates by seeing an opening in the defence they can charge in to and placing the ball right where it needs to be for them to receive during the sprint.

As far as memory serves Beckham was the first proffesional to do the "over-halfway" goal in that way. Beckham was an ace player but was, in my opinion, known for sheer accuracy even at speed ie running. His ability to judge where the receivers foot will be when the ball arrived was unreal. I think one of the main reasons it isn't popular over there is the way the matches are structured. It seems on american tv that you have advertisements every 5 minutes or so. 2 halves of 45 minutes each and the whatever extra time needed. Nowhere in there really for the companies to make money.

If you want to see true magnificence from Bex, try and find the England -v- Greece game from the European championships, can’t remember the year but someone reading this will know, he literally played that entire game on his own. Also you’ll note the different hairstyles, he was famous for changing hairstyles for particular campaigns. He can shoot like that because every training day, he would practice shooting for hours on end whilst all the others had showered and gone home! From allover the field, different distances from the goal mouth, he’d use props in the pitch to cause obstructions so that he’d have to angle his kicks to get round the obstructions. There hasn’t been another since like him although some of the young players in the current England squad are pretty good in different ways. The Bend it like Beckham reference you’re half recognising is a film that was based on him.

Not to send you down the football rabbit hole but I think you would really like to see the 10 best goals by Ryan Giggs. David Beckham end up playing for LA Galaxy and is married to "Posh Spice" so that's most probably why you have heard of him. He now is one of the co-owners of Inter Miami Soccer team. The other thing to bear in mind is that because he dated and then married a member of Spice Girls while they were at height of their fame he has been in limelight for he life on and off the pitch, which he has used to effectively create the brand "Beckham". Also, it might be just my perception but he was the first personality I can remember that started getting huge tattoos after which that trend took off as something that became fashionable to do.

It takes strength i trained with 67 kilo's on my back up and down mountains 200 mile rides on my bianchi race bike 47 mile runs at top speed swimming olympic pool 1 breath doe 3.5 lengths on the bottom. Then on the running track doing hurdles spaced for the 100 metres our were all around the track so 7.5 laps of them at top speed just ahaving with my trailing leg. Then football a left winger with many aspects of Beckhams team members to my game i was a left winger midfielder striker and left back i drove the ball from our goal area straight through the ball one almighty effort with delayed top spin that made the ball dip behind their goalkeeper. All players on both reams atopped playing and all on both teams came to congratulate me the best goal i ever scored and i could bend it more than Beckham. Scored from the corner bent it into the far post nehind the keeper fegular crossfieild bent nalls to the right flank to run down the touch line once i had played ailly bugger to draw the defenders to me. We scored an awful lot of goals like rhat. My Father was a professional footballer who played for Wolverhampton Wanderes on the 60's ao i tbought i might be good so i pushed it to see and it was amazing o was siperfit and super atrong. & the World had coniptions over becks yes he was good buit i was better. My Father was an ego monster so i stayed away from the professional game. Last goal, goal keeper (not tender) was off his line, he had moved forward anticipating a pass to the forwards so he wanted to close the gap to add pressure to them. When beckham looked for the pass, he saw this and decided to lob the keeper leaving them no option but to scramble back in a panic.

When you see a British city like Tottenham, or Cheltenham... we don't pronounce it like "en-ham" in the UK. We pronounce it more like "num". So it would be "Tot-num" or "Chelt-num". I love how you US folks pronounce things though because it's literally say what you see. In the UK we don't do that... mostly at all. We have way too many letters which make no sense. Any place which has "-cester" in the name, like Leicester... we literally remove the "-ce" aspect. To make it "Lester." Because as Shakespeare has shown... we literally use far more letters than are actually needed for words lol.

John Terry, Tony Adams, Rio Ferdinand, and for recency Virgil Van Dyke and William Saliba are brilliant bone crunching defenders. Different types of players. Classy midfielders like Beckham, see his team mate (better than him) Paul Scholes, Patrick Viera, David Silva, Steven Gerrard and for recency Kevin De bruyne and Martin Odegaard. You can learn ALOT more about the Premier League by checking these guys out. Thierry Henry is widely considered as the best player to have played in England of all time, while Alan Shearer holds the all time goals scored record in the league. Outside England you have Jude Bellingham playing in Spain for Real Madrid, Killian M'bappe who has just moved to Real Madrid from Paris St Germain, Lamine Yamal who is 16 years old and is pretty much the main man for the Spanish national side playing for Barcelona, Jamal Musiala is brilliant for Bayern Munich, Victor Osimhen is clinical for Napoli. The top 5 leagues are all definitely worth a watch. Thats the English Premier League, The German Bundesliga, the Spanish La Liga, the Italian Serie A and the French Ligue 1. Oh and the passion??? I imagine it's difficult trying to walk in such a great football star father's footsteps. The third son, Cruz, is keen on music.

He's 22 in the first clip, and already on the England team. That's not especially young - two of our current team are 21. Footballers don't tend to last to 35; he left the England team at 34.

Allow me to answer your question. Why is football not popular in the US: 1- football cannot be monetized. Aside from half-time there are no breaks. 2- Americans like to be the best at everything, so when you find something in which you cannot excel, you label it as insignificant or dull or the more common "not manly" instead of improving. You create a sport that only you play and call yourselves World Champions. 3- low scoring is also a big no no for americans. You prefer big numbers at the end of a stupid game than a 1-0 at the end of a tense quality game (1 touchdown is worth 7 points..... why???) 4- you find football to be slow paced but the truth is, both teams are always 30 seconds away from scoring at all times, which is the reason why you might see teams passing 50 times before a goal. They create openings and opportunities. Apologies for using harsh terminology but this is the truth.

I'm not a Man U fan, or a particular Beckham fan, and I wouldn't say he had the all round skills of some of the greats. But I don't think I've seen anyone else who could strike a ball as consistently well as him. And another thing which doesn't get mentioned enough was his work rate. There was one England match (I can't remember which one now) where he single handedly dragged us back into it when we looked down and out. He almost ran himself into the ground. That changed my opinion of him forever.

Americans tend to prefer higher scoring games, with something to 'Whoop!' about many times. They also like results. Must be a winner, if it takes overtime, so be it. Football (as in British football, not American Handegg) often has tie-game draws. In fact, pre 1990s, when pretty much all games would be on a saturday afternoon a very popular gambling method was 'The Pools' where punters would select on a form 8 games they thought might be tie-game draws, and if they chose correctly, and there were only 8 draws that day, and not many others had them too, they could win big! TV companies dictating that the league have games on other days so they can show more slashed the point and popularity of the pools.

From the age of 7, he used to spend hours trying to hit a post from all areas of a pitch. You have heard of 'Bend it like Beckham' because it is a very good film about an English women's football team and the drama therein. Spoiler Beckham makes a brief appearance.
