Don t get confused. Some of the statements are just wrong due to lack of real experience: Attached garages can be found as well as single homes in rural areas. Fridges mostly have an ice department/deep ftreeze compartment, as well as a seperate freezer is somewhere in the household. And many others...

About freezers, freezers are often seperated from the fridge but you can also buy it with the fridge together
@tezyyr

Or if you live in a house, you may have an fridge as an big box in your basement. So of course we got ice cream 😁

The thing about no freezers with fridges is not true for most. In fact, most houses and apartments don't come with a built-in kitchen at all. So you have to buy your appliances, and you can have your refrigerator any way you want.

I don‘t see why a door that shots from outside is „inconvenient“ - this way you hinder strangers from just entering without asking. And of COURSE we eat icecream - most fridges do have a freezing section where you keep the deep frosted stuff.

What? we have freezers

of course we have freezers (its a german invention afterall) , they are just separated from the fridge.

Every house in Germany is different! My german house is and looks very (!) different! And yes, we do have a freezer, we do have windows screens, we can open our frontdoor without a key, we don't have radiators in our house but a floor heating system, we have two big bathrooms + a single toilet for guests, ... and so on and on ...! :)

I would say the biggest difference is that many houses in Germany have basements

You can trust german toilets! 😁 They are deeply anchored into the walls.

I've seen so many reactions to this video and none of you guys seem to grasp the basic difference between Germany and the US, namely the SIZE of the country. We need to be efficient with our buildings, hence multi-story, semi-detached or terraced houses with garages that will just hold your one car and serve no other purpose. Need to DIY? Do it in the basement of your house. We don't have built-in closets, because they are a giant waste of space and our houses have real (masonry) walls. The slanted walls you saw are also due to space efficiency. We often (not always) have rooms you can use right under the roof. Thankfully, the factual inaccuracies have all been addressed already in the comments. Really enjoy your reactions, thanks.

Another reason for not having build in closets is that we don't have fixedly assigned bedrooms. When we buy a house it tells the number of rooms in total minus kitchen and bathrooms that are counted separately. In America you find the number of bedrooms listed. We are more flexible with it (maybe also bc our houses usually don't come with furniture when buying/renting)

the point 10 is not correct. There are toilets and bathtubs like he showed, but it is also pretty common to have a watertank and a mounted toilet, as well as shower curtains. I guess its more a regional thing or depending on the age the house was build.

Actually we have both in Germany Floating toilett seats and those mounted to the ground. And we also have two systems for tanks. Those who are inside the wall and, like in my home, tanks that are mounted to the wall. At older buildings those canister are mounted to the wall but right under top of the room and you have to pull a chain after you're done. Comming to carpots and garages: We have both. In my home, that was build in 1994, so it's not that old, we have a garage also connected to the main house but no way to enter it from garage but of course the main entrence is just like 10 steps so no problem. We also have garages connected to the house that also have an entrence to it so you don't need to go to the main entrence but according to my experience most have a Garage that is connected to the house without an entry to it or carpots and not to forget the pre-build garages that will be, totally ready to use, transpoted to your property but those are not connected at all to the main building. The part with the main door has totally simple reason called "Safty". When I watch American movies I have the feeling that every stranger who wants could open the door and come in in best case unnoticed by the owner so easy going to sneak around and steal stuff while you are maybe in your room with you PC and don't recognize anything at all cause you may wearing headphones with music or the sound of the game you are playing. Fly-screens. I Fly-screens on windows at least in Spring till mid of autumn,

The tilt window in Germany was invented in the 30s. It has been part of the Standard house since the 70s! New at the beginning, normal over the decades! Originally, it was intended to prevent break-ins. So the homeowners were obliged to build it. In order to maintain uncertainty protection.

On the topic of doors and how crazy that is supposed to be. If a typical American serial killer were to flee to Germany, he would despair here because he wouldn't be able to get into any house. In all true crime documentaries, the point is that if the victims had simply closed their doors, they would still be alive. You call it normal and American freedom or something like that. It must really be worth it 😅🤙🏼

This is a recently built house, i am pretty sure not all houses in Germany are like this, they will be as diverse as houses in any other country including the USA

This house can actually be considered old-fashioned. Modern German houses have heating integrated into the floor so no radiators anywhere. The rollades he uses are manual. We have had automatic rollades in my parents house 30 years ago. And the windows like that have been standard everywhere since the 70s. I'm not saying he lives in a bad house but it's definitely not an incredibly high standard.

I got locked out of my house while wearing my pajamas. Good thing I left my bedroom slightly open and I was able to climb through the window. That was 30 years ago and I would never consider leaving windows open today.
