It's not too unlikely you've heard this song before as it gained popularity even outside of Europe. Euphoria is such an iconic song, it's been credited to have "brought Eurovision into the modern age", as a lot of ESC songs tended to have a bit of a dated sound but after the success of Loreen's Euphoria more songs started to have a more contemporary sound.
The Swedish runner-up in Melodifestivalen, “Amazing” by Danny, probably would’ve had a very similar impact if it had gone through. I’m very sure that song would’ve won as well, although not as big of a victory as Loreen had. Both songs were in a new style. The Electronic/dubstep/edm style that had not been done to this extent in Eurovision before. It’s a shame the two songs were up against eachother the same year, because “Amazing” is also one of Sweden’s best Melodifestivalen songs ever.
Yeah, she was a clear winner since her performance at Melodifestivalen. The only question was what margin would be between her and 2nd place. It was well deserved landslide victory. Greetings from Croatia. 😊
could be, it's a bit hard to judge, as they have changed their point system. If you go by the older system, the 2009 Fairytale by Rybak still holds the points record. But Euphoria was the obvious winner in 2012. The simple but amazing stage show and the just great song and voice.
Of course, you recognize Loreen - Euphoria. Because you previously had React for Sweden's contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest from 1958 until 2019, then Loreen - Euphoria was there as a 2012 contribution.
Not only was she good... in 2012 she was so good that she had literally won the contest from the moment she was announced as the swedish representative... although I would say it was actually even sooner - the moment she won her Heat in Melodifestivalen 2012, she literally destroyed everyone from that moment on... everyone knew she was gonna win Eurovision Song Contest in May 2012 - that's how good she was back then... and even today she is still considered the best winner of 2010's and one of the best winners in the history of Eurovision Song Contest...
Back in 2012 when she won she broke the record as the most dominant win. As in the most points seperating her from the number 2 spot and i am pretty sure she still holds that record to this day.
You should totally check her “statements” number from Melodifestivalen as well. Not the same pop music, but I love that song because of the difference and the meaning behind that song🥰
If we think about that time, 2013 was a quite revolutionary year for music as more LGBT content was becoming available and many artists and public figures were expressing their support for changes regarding sexual freedom. Loreen was an advocate for gender freedom and that led to a very good response amongst the fans, especially knowing that Eurovision can be held in Sweden in case she would win. But the main reason she won for me personally was more the stage show rather than the song itself. It was very artistic and conematic in a way that it seemed sophisticated rather than cheesy. If she would just stand in front of a microphone, i don't think the song would have the same success. Nonetheless, great piece of history and I hope to show this performance to my children one day ;)
You should definitely check out more stuff by Loreen. Her discography is quite diverse, especially for having had some troubles with her label (and thus only having two albums so far, also two mini EPs and lot of stand alone singles. The most diversity shows in her live performances tho). I recommend you check out My Heart Is Refusing Me, Paper Light, Statements, 71 Charger, or her swedish songs Alice and Jar är en Vampyr. All of them have some great live performances as well. My favorites are Statements at the 2017 Melodifestivalen and Jag är en Vampyr at 2020 Sa mycket bättre.
We could just feel it, my friends and I sitting there in the sofa in front of the TV. It was in the air, we looked at each other and said like " _wow ... this is really happening isn't it? could it be ...?_ 🤯" Magical evening. And it's the best winning song yet. Something about it is just eternal.
This song really ia my childhood. It makes me cry almost every time I hear it.. it’s so nostalgic to me and this song is amazing! Thanks for the reaction😁
I have been in a chioir behind Loreen in musikhjälpen in Verterås. That is on youtube f you want to check that out. My best memmori in a choir ever. Love from me Marie in Sweden.
As a Swede myself I always loved this song. I’m very great full Sweden took this song to Eurovision. I recommend u looking up her other song she competed with 2017 in melodifestivalen. It didn’t win unfortunately but many people like it. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ejU7RKmmJMQ.html
I think Euphoria and Hold me closer (this years winner) is the two best songs to win melodifestivalen!! I dont mean this to sound rude, but they dont sound like melodifestivalen-contending songs. This is comming from a rare swede that only watches the finale (its like 6 episodes were 2 songs is sent to the finale) 😊
Loreen brought back the MC Hammer iconic moves from "Cant Touch This" alright! 😁 1:33 I love how she just turns into a huge smile seeing and hearing the crowd going crazy already in the beginning,i think that gave her the confirmation she needed to just escalate the performance and take this one home. PS: Floor Jansen from Nightwish made a cover of this song on YT,maybe thats where you heard this before?
This is the second time I heard you mention a second channel, but I can't seem to find it. You have a link? Thanks. / Sidenote: Another great Swedish winning song from ESC is Måns Zelmerlöw - Heroes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5sGOwFVUU0I.html (edit: Found the channel via twitter. For anyone else wondering it's: ru-vid.com )
It would be fun if you lissened to the swedish version of the songs because sometimes the oerformances are completely changed. For example eric saade popular had rhis glass box he broke on stage but then in eitver final of melodifestivalen or eurovision he wasnt allowed because he was in the middle and the ones entering stage after him couldve hurt his feet in sweden he was lasr on stage so they had to do this hwole face thing on the lcs screens on the floor instead wich wasnt as powerfull. So sometimes the first version not andra chansen either is the "correct" one some songs to are in swedish in sweden then remade to english for eurovision thats was common before back in the days. Also i feel them being more nervous in eurovision so sometimes they dont sound as good.
I think you’re thinking of Katy Perry Firework “light it uh uh up” lol but plz can u react to her 2023 performance of TATTOO cuz she has just won again.
In your next video you should check Omar Rudberg out. He's soooooo good. But not only his melodifestivalen song but olso his other song too. Love your videos❤
If you want a singer with a fantastic voice, then you should listen to Chris Kläfford with the song imagien. He has participated in both Swedish Idol and AGT
Both ABBA and Loreen really affected Eurovision, changed it. ABBA is clearly the bigger group in total (one of the biggest bands ever actually), but Waterloo isn't their greatest song.
Can you please react to Sanah and Igor Herbut “Mamo tyś płakała” - all the profit from this song will be donated to help children affected by the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 Sanah has a beautiful voice and the song is powerful ! Thank you
If you enjoyed Loreen then I would gladly recommend you her other song "Statements" as she compete in Melodifestivalen. I would also like to recommend you Dotter with her song "Bullet proof" and I would like to recommend you Zara Larsson with her live performance "WOW".
