Rart at se jer igen. Det er efterhånden længe siden. Jeg lagde mærke til at Maya er blevet helt god til dansk. Hendes udtale af "3.G" var lige i øjet! Like a pro!👍
Tillykke med fødselsdagen Maya. The bit of Danish I heard was impeccable, that can only mean that further education is an open buffet to you. You really deserve it, no worries. Don't forget to celebrate what you achieve. Be young, be strong and be free. You already have the fame, now focus on the fortune you want. It's easy to burn out quickly if you start out wanting to become the prime minister... there's plenty of time.
Oh how sweet, Maya! You dont have to hurry! Im 29 and just back in july got my bachelor Degree at university of copenhagen! Lots of time to decide and People at the university is all different ages. Myself wasnt the oldest. But yes some are 18 and its fine. No one cares 😃
Joshua and Miranda, I'm just home from my two weeks in Denmark. I had the best vacation of my life, thanks largely to all that I've learned from your channel. Denmark really is the best country. I loved everything. I looked for you everywhere ... just knew I'd see you filming, but alas no. (And I got one of those parking dials for my rental car and was very careful not to park over the line anywhere.)
was on a trip to Copenhagen for the first time and needed to find a place to meet someone, but got lost. asked 3 nice young people for directions. I think I had seen the young lady before and asked if it was Maya from Travelin Young and it was. an honor to meet your daughter. love all your video. in super talented. Vh Andreas from Odense
You should do one of your trips with Maya this year and go to Greece and see the museums and sights. She can train on recognising the different vases, sculpture styles and column styles and ace the Oldtidskundskab exam! My husband’s father took each of his grandchildren on such a tour, with a lot of lectures and storytelling, not a trip to relax but to learn, and they all did really great 😊.
Mindre end et år før Maya kan tage en sjov hat på og kalde sig student. Tillykke med fødselsdagen. Jeg husker da jeg gik i tredie g. Det var en god tid.
I only had religion at C level in gymnasium. But my class got to visit 3 religious places where we could talk with people from that religion. (Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam and Buddhism) All 3 places were close to my gymnasium though so it might be easier to do at my old gymnasium than others in Denmark. But I think it depends a lot on the religion teacher you have and the location of your gymnasium.
Happy Birthday, Maya. I look forward to hearing about your Danish high school experience. Our family is Danish-Canadian and our kids graduated high school in Canada before moving to Denmark. I am always curious to see what Danish high school is like. My husband says it was so long ago he mainly remembers the bus and the hat at the end. Perhaps some parties...
Latin is great! You get so many more of the jokes in Asterix! I had Latin in 9th grade of primary school, called 2. real back then. I really enjoyed oldtidskundskab. An episode from 3. G? At our translokation (graduation), we got our diploma and a handshake from rektor. My name was misspelled on my diploma, so I got a new one later. The diploma is an A3 sheet of paper, folded once to make four A4 pages. For some reason they had decided to put it an a C5 envelope, meaning that it was folded once more. I alone of all my class have a diploma without that unsightly extra fold. Not very exiting, I know, but there you go. I have no advice for you. I became a student in 1978. So much has changed since then that I don't know what might be useful to you.
Congrats, Maya. If I could, I'd send your family some Italian Beef and a chocolate cake from Portillos in Chicago for your celebration. You're doing what I wish I could have done when I was young and going to Denmark.
I am 52 now, and my "gymnasietid" was my greatest time so far. But not while I were in it. I just had to "survive" it back then ... Back in the late eighties there were no internet or cell phones. Hardly any computers. Oldtidskundskab and Latin were my favourites, very nerdish.
So funny at 13:40 "Update from Maya" gymnasium - well - it´s not a update from Maya, she almost had not said anything. It´s a Vlog from him to us - heard more talking from him to the us streamers, rather than she had the opportunity to share here thoughts and dreams to us as listeners. If you take this video from the beginning, the majority of this is fathers talk, not giving here the chance to enlighten us about her time in life. Sweet but a little weard...because is this should be a video for Maya´s story...but...😀 Love this family as always, but .,,yeah
Josh and Miranda: Have you made plans for the "Studentervogn" trip yet? Because that thing will rock your world, and be amazing content to the whole "US vs Denmark" thing. 😂🎉
Oh there have already been quite a few discussions about it! The studentervogn was ordered last year. Now we just wait to find out what place we are in the rotation so we can plan the food, drinks, and decorations!!
Hi Maya It might be too late, but if you later want to do the citizen's test, it might be a good idea with some Danish history. I know an African woman, she did the test. She told me what she had to learn. At some points she knew way more than me, and I consider me as being a little over average in history, after having lived here for 62 years. One of the questions she got was: "When did Queen Margrethe I reign?". That a hard one, I think. She passed the test, and it was the happiest woman I ever saw. To be fair, this several years ago, and I believe the tests has become a little easier. They found out that not many native Danes, could not pass the test either. Good luck in 3G.
Swede here: "When did Queen Margrethe I reign?" if they want exact years that it hard, if roughly is OK any Nordic citizen should know it (the Nordic countries being more or less what she ruled over). But I guess half do not know.
@@cynic7049 I believe it was multiple choice. But I still think it is an irrelevant question. I will bet nobody in my space knows it, they will just say "many hundred years ago". 🙂 1376 - 1412.
@@mayaanastasiayoung6739Tillykke med fødselsdagen kære Maya! 🇩🇰 Du føler dig mere og mere dansk og det er jeg glad for! Du er en pryd for vort land! ❤️💯🇩🇰
Yes, Joshua, there is a graduation with diplomas been handling out 😃 right after you go to The trucks, but some Schools separates The ceromony and trucks by a day or Two 😃 my HF graduation and truck driving was The same day 🎉 sooooo fun 🎉
Happy birthday Maya 🙂🎂👍.I hope your parents are proud of you. 3 years of Danish gymnasium must have a steep learning curve ,Danish not being your first language.
My advice for 3.G (if you want good grades) is this: Spend some weekends going over all your old books from 1.G and 2.G, and review, review, review until you understand everything! This could bring you up a whole grade level, or even two! You can imagine your parents are Chinese, who will accept nothing less than straight As. (Thank me later, like, 15 years from now).
I hope she will kill the 3 year. And it is weird to see time fly. From the Maya who came here years ago and were not happy, to the Maya who is now going in 3G. I guess moving to Denmark has brought you all some hardship. Especially the kid. Btw is Maya the right way to spell it?. You people are a joy to watch. Not only because of your greats videoes but because you bring knowledge to expats living here or wanting to live here
Maya is the first in 3 generations to have red hair. It's double recessive so Josh and I both had to have the gene. My paternal grandmother and Josh's paternal great grandmother (I think thats the right grandmother!) had red hair. We also have a lot of Irish on both sides that came over in the 1800s.
@@TravelinYoung That could definitely explain it. DNA is a wonderful thing. You didn't reply in Latin, so here's my above reply in said language: Potest certe id explicare. DNA res mira est. Joking aside. DNA (inheritance) can often be observed very directly. Good/bad things from one side and the same from the other side. One can only hope for the best. Hair color is not the most important thing. I know from my own experience that what lies beneath the hair means a lot more.
Most people take a gap year. The main reason being that they don't know the direction they want to take in higher education and they need some time to figure that out.
Year 3, it is such a cliché, nevertheless, remember to enjoy it, take a minute to look around you, take it all in, the year is over before you know it, smile to the world.
Det er også så meget bedre med fagerne. Jeg har næsten igen fag som jeg hader nu. Min skema er mest A-fag og mit valgfager, så være dag er bare fuldt med fag som jeg elsker
One thing I really don't understand: How is someone a "poorr guy" for being last in an aphabetic order? I can't immagine any kid thinking that you have to be first in the alphabetical order, so that you can feel better than everyone. That has to be like religious training! It surely won't fly anywhere in my mind anno 1963, when I began school! There were way to many exiting people, and only the teacher kept me from exploding and imploding at the same time, with her structure and order. I didn't remember a single name after the first role call, and after that I was busy remembering! Loser vs winner seems to be more of an American thing. At least, I was in a different world than what you might call a competition. I was scared and interested. I had no concept of winners and losers, only of weirdos and straight forewards. The weirdos were difficult to understand. But that was all. I remember my childhood with much love and gratitude. I am not a winner or a loser. I am a human being. That's all it takes, and competition only takes away from that very simple truth. My father said: "I don't care what it says on the sign on your door. As long as it is a happy person that opens!" I believe that is wisdom 101.
The expression “poor guy” here is when you have sympathy for someone and their situation. I have no idea where you are getting winners and losers from, that was never discussed. The point was that when there are 500+ names to be called one by one while walking across a stage, it is a bummer to be one of the last. It takes over an hour, so by the time they get to the end everyone is asleep. It has nothing to do with being better than someone else or being a loser, not sure why you are on a soapbox here.
