I feel like the kinds of people that would actually agree to all of this and act accordingly aren't the kinds of people that would participate in a war in the first place.
They're not like laws that we civilians have to follow, they're more like "apply when suitable". Guaranteed, they are gonna be broken at some point (German concentration camps, British Bombing of non-military targets, Japanese brutality to Surrendered Chinese or American troops, etc.) but just the existence of this suggestions already reduce the frequency of this type of acts, no matter who the winning side is. Still, doesn't mean that they are ignored a lot.
Gone are the times when the person who started the war fights in it. Kings once fought with their army but leaders are too weak to show that kind of leadership these days.
@@marvinzimmerman1878actually you didnt help him. You just bashed it against his face without explaining how it works. You basically made him think that they're should be used as their too
My brother did two tours in Afghanistan. I’m sure he’s been in combat, much of which he never speaks of. What I do know is that is some instances the rules of engagement go out the window when it comes to survival. Soldiers just want to get home and sometimes at any cost. My heart goes out to anyone who has either had to fight in war or was a civilian caught in a war.
@@aeroboi2862 I beg to differ , I've gotten yelled @ by my little sister for crushing them vvhenever Im home on leave vvearing my combat boots , can barely notice them. Barefoot hovvever is really shitty , especially vvhen you're half avvake & trying to get a cup of coffee . & it seems that small children leave them in the vvorst spots & go unnoticed by adults, so thats another reason to notuse them, unless you vvant governments drafting little kids to put them in the best areas . Germany tried to ban shotguns when they fighting the USA because “they caused to much unnecessary pain”. They just tried to ban them because they were OP! UwU
Well basically, that's what you call War of Attrition Where they are bunkered down in 1 area However, they need to push further and apply pressure or else war of attrition otherwise more loss of life in the war
2:28 is only breached when the injured soldier is still continuing to fight. Same applies with medical units (soldiers) , they are not classed as targets until they agrees on a opposing force.
I know during some battles in ww1 the soldiers would sometimes hear the gurgling of wounded soldiers drowning in the mud after the men carrying them were killed by machine gun fire. There were also some battlefields where if you fell off the planks your gear would way you down so much that you would drown under the trench mud. Sometimes men would be asleep in a foxhole and be covered and buried alive by mudslides. And according to some journal entries you would always know when you took a step if it was a body that was holding you up.
My grandfather was saved in this manner actually. The medical tent he worked in was bombed. The only reason he survived was because he had just left to transport a body.
Your right, it can’t be used in war but it can be used on our own civilians to deter violence and riots, but what would you replace tear gas with? Bc it’s very effective in stopping riots and pushing people out of riot zones
@@redjupiter2236 it was a joke, but i would implement dictatorship, with military everywhere, if people were to try and riot they would be incarcerated or killed. Or just use regular rubber bullets and water canons, which isnt illegal to use in war.
@@redjupiter2236 in our own, so you want to put it inside civilians, thats some next level tactics, were you thinking something like implementing some type of canister inside a human body that would activate if they were in a riot, or maybe some type of brain implant that would mirror simmilar effect of tear gass.
@@botsarefun8916 when the next 10 generations of your family look like the hills have eyes mutants then tell me agent orange is better than a flamethrower
you mentioned no hollow points. that is why the term "full metal jacket" because a wounded enemy slows an army down more than a dead one so using hollow points unnecessarily blows the person apart causing grief to loved ones on both sides when 95% of the soldiers dont even want to be there
Mission failure we'll get 'em next time -ghost R.I.P ghost reason of death:american general shepard shot and burned him and his comrade alive as he wanted more power than british
It's still people killing people, the reasons really haven't changed much either; the only things that have changed is how effectively people kill each other.
Yeah some of the rules are okay but some of the other ones just tell you the world has gone soft, not saying like pow's should be treated harshly but like the hollow points and tear gas and pepper spray, all three are used by law enforcement world wide.. why not in war? tear gas and pepper spray is non lethal so idk why they consider them as as "chemical weapons"
@@st4rship_780 The main reason is because most militaries don't want to pose any threat to civilians. Any chemical weapon can bring harm to civilians as well as the enemy.
@@st4rship_780 Probably because if they've been gassed they are gonna be shot anyway, so it's unnecessary suffering. While in the case of Riot police, they want to subdue people without shooting them, so tear gas is one of the most logical options.
I still remember watching MASH as a kid. I'm sure it wasn't 100% accurate, but there was a lot it got right. I will never forget Hawkeye telling Frank that they couldn't keep an artillery cannon because it made them a target, and TIL that theoretically it could have revoked their protection under the Geneva Convention.
Well according to law 9.2.8 in the book Laws Of War, your FOV shouldn't be higher than 130. If not the Anti Cheat will detect it and you be smited instantely. I recommend that you only raise it to 120 just to make sure.
But many special ops like SAS and NAVY SEALS are highly trained to suffer all kinds of torture which means the protocols are always breached by the enemies
It's not always breached, but should be expected to be breached. The ultimate goal of any military in a war is to win. Any individual who is in a position to know information to know critical information about their own forces should anticipate the possibility that the enemy that is holding it would be willing to risk punishment to obtain that information and improve their own chances of victory... or to be captured by an enemy who simply does not care.
Most military wont torture them. Problem is, special forces nowadays dont exactly fight other militaries. And as such, those groups dont follow the geneva convention. Or the Law of Armed Conflict. Like boko haram or Isis.
J Loki Well when we dropped the bombs on Japan it was a whole new thing so there was no laws against it. And Trump out of the no nuclear war agreement in 2018 so it is legal for the US to use nukes.
What about mercenaries? Everything is so vague about them due to them being also called PMCs (Private Military Contractors). I understand that PMCs can be used as auxiliary personnel behind the scenes (cooks, drivers, security guards, mechanics, ect...) but they are not "supposed" to be used in combat capacity as that would make them "mercenaries" by definition.
This is the real rule and the only one that applies. You don't want to be on the losing side and neither do they. Hence, all other rules are to be dismissed.
But the thing is, the winners will suffer consequences for breaking rules that other countries have signed with them. For example: If Russia, USA, China, and Germany say "no chemical weapons"; and USA uses Chemical weapons on Germany, then Russia and China will attack USA thus causing further war.
pepper spray is used to call the substance pepperspray it is illegal because it could be used in grenades bombs or as spray thown from an aircraft. just imagine an airplane contaminating over 40 square meters over a camp. nobody will be able to see and some will even go blind. i get the confusion
