Share with me your toad "story". They are very glued to their home range. Do you have a resident toad at your house?

I remember when I was a little boy, we used to have this really big, fat toad that lived under the seat ledge in our sandbox. We used to make sand castles for him and we would make him the king. He'd look so stately in his sand castle and bottle cap crown. At night he went to the porch light and ate bugs, his name was "Fat Albert" and lived there for years. He was almost a family pet.

As you said, the Virginia Herpetological Society website is a great resource for learning frog/toad calls. Knowing what you’re hearing always makes a hike more rewarding. Did the American toad in the video eat the earthworms?

Hey Streamline.....yes, I plug VA Herp Society..every chance I get. They have produced a really top notch web page. I really like their snake comparisons. So tired of seeing people kill juvenile blacksnakes saying they were copperheads! Ha ... my pet peeve. I actually don't recall if I saw the toad eat the worm. Had he done it while I was watching I would have certainly videoed it! I saw an antlion pull down an ant yesterday! thanks for leaving me a note! appreciate it!

Cool video. Do you know how to tell if a toad is male or female?
