Ever since I was young I'd save worms that crawled out and probably won't make it back to the grass before they dry out. I've been laughed at...by everyone, even my friends! I don't care. I guess I was a worm in a previous life. So about a week ago in my driveway I saw a very dry worm who had crawled out of the grass onto the driveway. Problem is we haven't had rain in 6 or 7 weeks here in western NY. Suddenly I remembered my toad friend who live in my garden. It was late August and they hadn't come out yet, so that night I started watering my gardens. The second night I saw three toads! One of them was high tailing it across the street so I brought him back. I found your video searching for where toads live but I'm also curious about how they hibernate and what they eat. You answered the diet question but not where do they live and hibernate. I'm going to check out your other video you referenced. Thank you for taking the time to educate people on these wonderful little creatures:)

We have toads on our front porch I'm always glad to see them. These toads could very well take the place of Snipe hunting .

That was interesting, never seen toads on my property, but I am sure they are here in the forest. I have not gone looking for them at night. Have seen 2 types of frogs in my pond, coexisting with my goldfish to keep mosquitoes at bay and the bats get the rest. Also have some small grey/brown frog in food forest. Always on the look out for them when up there as they blend in so well with the leaf litter. Just blew fresh supply of leaves off driveway into garden area. I put a few new water displays in pond and the small green frogs found them so quickly. Nature is so amazing, now I have to Id my frogs.

I caught 6 last night!

We have 2 toads in our front window well. (We live in Schuylkill county Pennsylvania). The one is bigger than all that are in this video. I want to clean out the leaves that fell in there but we chose not to since they have made that their home. I'm not sure if I did make a toad house that they would use it 🤷. But I will keep the idea in mind just in case. Thank you for the diy and the info about them. We were always thinking that the huge one was the guy.. so now I know. Stay safe

Went out looking for Toads, which usually love my apartment complex this time of year but I think its too cold. 57 degrees this early morning. They must travel a decent distance from water to get here for the bugs. Any Tips?

Do you live near water? We’re on an acre, always find frogs. It never toads. I think we have western toads here but rarely see them unless camping.

Grabbed 6 american toads by now. Got two huges bins with plenty of places to hide, comfy coco coir to dig and sit on. Any videos on how to breed them in captivity?
