I lost my father 7 years ago when I was 55 years old, and nothing hurts a man like losing a great, loving father. Do not apologize for your emotions. I am sitting here crying as well. Thank you for the wonderful reaction. I'm sorry for the loss of your dad. I lost mine a long time ago at about Dan's age, but I lost my mom a little over a year ago. Losing a parent isn't something you ever really get over. So, definitely, no need to apologize.

From what I've heard, Dan recorded this 5 days after his father passed. I can't even imagine trying to get through something as painful as that must have been. At the beginning of the video, the caption (in Portuguese) says... "To my beloved father, Roberto". And at the end, it says "Sleep with God, father. See you soon." I cry every time I listen to Dan honoring the love he had for his Dad by singing this trilogy. It is sooo emotional. I noticed how often while singing he looks up to the heavens. I lost my Daddy some years ago and cry along with Dan over losing our heros. I don’t know how he finishes the song with tears running down his face. He is amazing and I’m a huge Dan fan. Losing a parent, at any age, rips a cornerstone of your foundation away. I lost my mother 12 years ago and the pain has subsided by now, but it knocked me out pretty hard. My mom will be gone for 10 years, come mid-October 2024. We all miss her very greatly, still. Always will. Our dad passed away in 1973, and my younger-younger brother left in 2009. Both of them were named Frank, and both died at age 54. My older-younger brother (the pro photographer who still lives in Valdez, Alaska) breathed some HUGE sighs of relief when he got through that age! Mom, Dad, and Frankie joined our OLDER brother, who only lived for 10 days (born in 1946), and all of our grandparents. When I think of all those dear ones, I have trained myself to remember the good times, and the love, but I still miss them all. It's just the way it is. YES! "Dawn Over a New World" is stupendous!

Crying is healing. I started seeing a therapist when I lost both of my parents. As I would cry through entire sessions, she. would gently tell me that you have to be in the pain to heel. You show men that it is an important part of a healing journey.
My Dad passed away 10 years ago. My Mom passed just shy of 4 weeks ago this coming Sunday. My Mom was an Elvis freak. Black velvet paintings and all. Dad took her to Graceland as their second honeymoon. Every time this song shows up on my random playlist i have to decide whether i can get a good cry in.... because if i listen I'm gonna bawl like a baby.
