More gray trader is needed. Origin stories that are well crafted is what gets me bought-in and connected to the characters. Like the one above all in marvel... We need more of that!.
I liked this volume. But when skinner was in space fighting those carpathian vampires, i couldnt help but think "those carpathians should be dead". If the sun from the surface of the earth is leathal to them, then just imagine what the un-filtered sun from space would do.
Honestly Danny I really liked this one. AV really surprised me with how the story evolved. I mean don't get me wrong I was diggin it too when it just being about vampires and seeing all the cool variations but it still felt a bit cliche in some areas so it's nice to see a new twist on a classic tale. Cant wait for next Sunday. Keep up the great work homie!!!
The series was so good in the beginning but it kinda started going downhill in the middle along with it's artwork. Skinner Sweet is such a cool character and they wasted him imo.

American vampire is so surprising. Started small with an american vampire cow bow capable of walking during day time. Ending with ..... Spoilers A motherfucking mythos about Vampire ancients, council of the firsts, elder blind giants, the devil as the great beast and the blood of an angel ! Holy crap batman.
I would say this volume wasn't as good as the previous one but still solid. Interested to see how AV: 1976 goes down EDIT: Ok also the issue where it ends when Skinner is transformed was a pretty effective scare

No one knows what high concept is. Forgive be but I need to let this out cause it's a pet peeve of mine. High Concept does not mean complex, or intricate in fact in means the exact opposite. It means a simple easily communicated idea. Pacific Rim is High Concept for example, giant robots fighting giant monsters. It's not a big deal, but it does bug me when people use that phrase to describe something as convoluted or complex.
I hate that the writer is so off course from the Vampire methodologies, and he created something else as an escape route which has nothing to do with Vampires.

American Vampire 1976 which continues the story is currently being published, but it is 5-6 months away from wrapping up, so this is the last of my American Vampire coverage for now. Next week I'm doing Ed Brubaker's Criminal, which I have already mentioned way back when I was covering Preacher, so I'm finally getting to it! I've been re-reading Criminal in preparation, and I feel confident you will all love it. And most of you haven't read it or even heard of it, so I'm excited to introduce you to it all, and perhaps inspire you to read all of Ed Brubaker's other great series. Now this volume of American Vampire, Dark Moon, is bat shit crazy. WTF is going on in it. It's so high concept and out there. I am actually really mixed on it, and kind of wish the series didn't go in the direction it did. It kind of jumps the shark in my mind. But it's still very interesting in the ideas that Scott Snyder tries to explore. This volume was also probably the most difficult for me to explain the plot to, but I think I explained everything properly...I hope. If y'all got any American Vampire related questions though, let me know in the comments, and I'll try and get to it! Curious to hear all your reactions to the developments in this volume. For those wondering, I have been reading American Vampire 1976, and I’m enjoying it for now, a little more than I did Volume 8 even. We’ll see how it ends tho, that’s the true test. But I think it’s worth picking up if you like the series.
Why do they constantly underestimate Skinner in these comics. I guess it sort of a tried and true trope of most comics. Either underestimate the hero or the villains. But for them to do it over and over again seems a bit strange, but I guess there are many examples of people escaping prison over and over again....
I have to agree with your closing statements. I personally preferred the story when it was more focused on vampires. It really felt like it lost the heart of the story/jumped the shark. It felt like Dracula was being built up to be the big bad…but he was killed off so fast when his lore could have been built upon in the following books instead of Grey Trader and Co. There were also those original, giant vampires that were trying to be destroyed by the Carpathian vampires back in WW2 that I felt went no where… I really like Pearl, Skinner, Calvin, and Felicia, and enjoyed seeing more of them, but this story line feels like a bad sequel. :/ But you always do such a great job on your videos; you’ve re-ignited my interest in comics and have bought quite a few of the comics you’ve covered. Thank you for taking all this time to introduce them to me, have a good rest of your day. :)

Great vids :) I liked the story. Didn't seem high concept to me. After such over arching story lines come to fruition at least stories can still be written about the various vampires themselves.

Yaaaaaa this is the only video of his I just had to stop watching. It was so weird and too much. Danny was right in that this story was much better when it was lower stakes. Ever since they have switched to. "We have to save the whole world" Things have gone down hill quickly.
I get what you mean. I think he was trying to add more to the lore and story of this world. So that it wasn't just "stuck" in just vampires. I was curious we're the giant ancient vampires went and their age/relation with what the grey trader was doing over the millennia. Nothing's perfect but the big judge would be what happens next and where that goes.

There is a series called American Vampire 1976, it’s about halfway done publishing, that continues the story. I think the series will supposedly end with that.
Yeah the whole thing with the gray Trader is kind of lame like it feels like the whole Dracula thing but more lame. Like oh you thought Dracula was bad check out this guy. Also I didn't like how Skinner sweet survived they should have made him transform from the Giant monster back into a human to show how he survived. Unless he has unbreakable skin now there's no way a human would have even survived for a second any point of being on the outside of the crash. Yeah this book feels pretty weak. And another double cross on top of another double cross I'm pretty over that like it looks bleak enough. Like the double cross has been overused too many times and now I'm kind of numb to it. Like every character I'm going I bet he's going to double-cross everyone that trust him I hope you other characters are prepared for that
