Season 1 is really raw and you can tell they're still figuring out the characters but once they find their footing it becomes one of the best comedies ever made. You won't be dissapointed if you stick with it!

This show gets better and better- the dysfunction and cringe gets wilder and wilder, the characters and situations get better and better, too. There's some truely terrible/hilarious situations Jez and Mark get in, Superhans is a stand out hilarious character.

Please please carry on with Peep Show. You will not be disappointed

Never watched the Peep Show, but curious to note that at 3:30 in your video the girl is played by Oscar award winning actor Olivia Colman - she has been incredibly versatile over the years and apparently was a regular in the show!

I watched this when it first aired, I was 14 . This is what made me a life long peep show fan 😅

Gets better and better, this is in my top 3 comedies of all time, certainly the one I've watched the most.

Seeing the first season from the perspective of someone else's reaction, It's amazing how dry and low on jokes it is. But It's really great that you're going to stick with it King and Queen Boomer, as you will definitely be getting some laughs from the later seasons.

It really gets good from series two. This is just them finding their feet and trying different ideas.

I really like Peep show, it's using the concept of internal monologue, used in modern(ish) literature , as like James Joyce's Ulysses or Tolstoy’s the death of ivan Ilyich, it's a means of exposing the truth but without publicly revealing it. Hi, it's just like talking to a Dutch person.

Like most TV shows especially comedies, the show gets better after the 1st season. The 1st season is very hit and miss for me (and what i hear most) as they don't know what they can and can't do. I nearly gave up on it on my first time watching it but glad i sat through it

The lady you recognize, is of course Oscar winning actress Olivia Coleman. So good that this was one of her earlier roles, and she brought so much to this character.

You guys clearly enjoy peep show and get the humour so you're in for a treat with later series, really looking forward to the howling from the King and the shock from the Queen

Two other shows you might consider; The Young Ones, (might need some explaining of the context since it's set in 80's and about uni students) and Plebs, a least the first couple of seasons, and Spaced. It's called Peep Show because their lives are being treated like one.

The camera doesn't just follow their point of view most of the time. Every single shot is seen through a character's eyes. Even seemingly random shots.

Peep Show is brilliant in every way. S1 is probably the least funny. The episode with Mummy is the best. Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen.

PS would be more popular if it had a better name such as Mark & Jez or Croydon Flatmates. I've heard people say they were deterred by the title, thinking it was about peep shows.

Hello king Boomer you should check out the old tv show faulty towers it a classic tv show.i think you enjoy it.

What's great about this show is the point of view with hearing the internal dialog is like allowing the viewer to listen in on their uncensored thoughts, the stuff you never want anyone to hear. which creates a lot of cringe moments in a good way.

This show happened and finished too quickly for it to really attain all the attention it could. The format was unique and refreshing (like The Office) and something I know the UK audience (inc myself) would generally love, but I just think most of those potential fans don't even know it existed, or didn't watch it for long enough to see what makes it special. Unlike most shows, this has plenty of life left, plenty more seasons to offer if they ever wanted to. Just like The Office, the protagonists are the butt of the joke, and meant to reflect our own insecurities, tensions, awkward moments that we think only apply to ourselves. I think a big part of post-90's British comedy has aimed to tickle away at the familiar and the believable, specifically targeting those hidden similarities between us. American comedy is just as clever in it's own way, thinking shows like Friends, Scrubs, Big Band Theory etc. They are a clinically calculated, formulaic exploitation of the fundamentals. Really prioritising the desire to make people laugh over everything else. Which is arguably what it should do. I think because the US were already taking this approach the UK had to think of something different.

Season 1 has some great moments, and this particular episodes is one of my all-time favourites, but I would say that the humour is much more subtle and quirky compared to later seasons. And the production value is way worse, compared to later seasons. It just has a very odd feel and they were clearly still figuring out what kind of show they really wanted to make. For example, the whole gag of them always watching random stuff on tv and making comments about it, is pretty much abandoned entirely after season 1, as this was one of the initial ideas for the show, for them to be like grown up British versions Beavis and Butthead. Also, they were still figuring out how to actually make the POV filming style not look so weird. The show becomes much less visually jarring in later seasons. It's probably the least accessible season for an American to jump into when watching for the first time. When this first came out it wasn't like some big show in a prime tv slot with known stars. It was very niche underground comedy with all of the main cast and writers being relative unknowns (amazing to think how successful Olivia Colman would go on to be, let alone Mitchell & Webb). Most people didn't discover the show until like season 4, through word of mouth and going back and watching it on DVD. I was one of the few people I know who actually watched the pilot episode when it aired back in 2003 and watched every episode on tv, hence why I have a real fondness for season 1. Things really pick up next season. I feel like the whole thing becomes much more cohesive and it has more of an overarching plot. Personally, I think season 2 is the best season of the show, but season 4 seems to be the season which appeals most to mainstream comedy fans, I think because it has some really outrageous, shocking moments of cringe comedy. So if you're still not fully into the show by the end of season 4, then you probably never will be.
