I am from Western Australia and in the middle of summer I get pulled over for speeding on an outer suburb road that I thought had a higher limit. So the officer comes up to the window and asks "How's your day going so far?" This is their usual approach so I answer "OK How's yours?" He replies "Not so good. My partner pinched the one shady spot and there is a dead roo over there and it is really on the nose" I commiserated then he got down to business, wrote me a ticket and said "Sorry about this, the road should be 70km I think." So I said "Oh well. Thanks anyway and sorry about that roo - its really bad. I hope you get to move soon and your day picks up." My son asked why I thanked him and I said I was being polite and he was just doing his job and being pleasant I suppose. The next day, the same officer rang me and said he had made a mistake and put in the wrong speed limit when writing out the ticket which meant he would have to cancel it so I could just rip it up and forget about it. I told my son and added that is why you thank police.

Yep, always be polite to cops for the same reason you always be polite to nurses; because you never know if their last 10 contacts treated them like shit, & they could really do with a bit of a break, some respect + humanity. If _they_ come in hot, you don't have to kiss their arse, though (but you should still be at least basically calm + mannerly, so your penalty doesn't also accrue a vengeance tax).

Yep most of them are OK. My teenage son got stopped at 2AM on his way home from work, the cops gave him a hard time, and eventually gave him the only ticket they could dream up, not being able to show his licence, his wallet had fallen between the seat and centre consul. Feeling bad for him I went to the cop shop next morning to pay the fine. Sergeant on the desk said it was bollocks and carefully read the infringement ticket, he said the writing was smudged and therefore not valid, and wished us good day.

@@wonton8983Once he couldn’t produce a license the actual law states he gets fined and cannot drive without one but Aussie cops make you turn up at cop shop the following day to prove your identity there was no fine, fines aren’t payed at police stations they’re paid online or at post office to avoid corruption so you only went to prove his identity not pay his fine and the details on fine aren’t a misprint from license because he didn’t provide one so the only details on fine that would make it inadmissible are street name he was driving on & Time/Date, To even let him continue to drive is a big let off because if an unlicensed driver has an accident it’s not covered by insurance or TAC and is a jailable offence, if your son didn’t identify the next day then they would have had to follow the law he’d cop a fine in mail & loose 2/3 points double in holiday season and he’d be pulled over more often just for a license check, all cops know when they identify immediately the next day they just misplaced their license so they treat them kindly.

I wish our cops were like that and we could laugh. I am from a Cop family and I look just like my sister, she was one. That was helpful because I got back to my car once and found a Cop booking me. I still has 3 minutes on the parking meter. He looked at me and started apologising. He told me he didn’t know I owned that car and he wrote my number plate down while telling me I would never get a ticket again. I never said one word but I shouldn’t have been getting a ticket anyway. The good side of our Police is, we had to drive across 3 States, it took us 6 days pulling a caravan so my husband could have surgery. He didn’t stay long enough to get fully well. It was getting late on Christmas Eve on a freeway. It was our 3rd day driving home and I could see how sick he was but we were only 30 minutes from stopping the night. We have an alarm in our truck that tells us we have a flat tyre and which one of the 8 it is. I knew by his face he couldn’t do it and I am disabled. The Freeway was packed with people going on holiday and it was dangerous to try and change that tyre. My husband couldn’t even think where he put the tyre iron because he was so tired and unwell. A Police Officer pulled up behind us, saw the problem and asked us to follow him about 200 metre’s to where we could get off the road. He got out first and cleared the rusty iron someone had thrown there. He got his tyre iron and he changed the tyre for us, he could see my husband was sick. He came to my window and asked me how much further were we going. I told him just down the road before I was stopping him for a 2 day break. I talked to him and found out he worked out of the Station my sister and brother had. I thanked him and told him he didn’t know how big what he just did was. I wished him a Merry Christmas and said I bet you can’t wait until your shift is over to go home. It was a really hot day. He told me his shift finished 4 hours earlier and he couldn’t go yet because people still needed help. That is the kind of Police my sister and her husband were. I am so happy they weren’t that other kind.

Oh, I must mention that many Americans have tried and failed to replicate the Aussie accent. Our lingo is so unique and the closest anyone has come close is New Zealand. Aussies can pick a Kiwi accent quite easily but most other English speaking countries have no idea.
@noelleggett5368
@noelleggett5368 2 года назад
The accent these ‘police’ are speaking with is the accent of Western Sydney, inspired by the children immigrants from the Eastern Mediterranean (mainly Lebanon, Italy and Greece). I lived in Sydney (including Western Sydney) for 25 years, but never met a cop from one of these ethnic groups or with this accent. (They were usually the ones being arrested by the Anglo-Saxon cops.) I think this skit is supposed to be a typical ‘role-reversal’ type with ethnic types being reversed. And I recognised my good mate, Sydney comedian and broadcaster, Alexei Toliopoulos in the cast playing the ‘fat wog’! You can catch this accent in other ‘great’ Australian comedies based in the western suburbs of Sydney, such as ‘Fat Pizza’ and ‘Housos’. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XcJKxFD1ag0.html

At <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="188">3:08</a> he said fat wog (it’s a derogatory word for immigrants that’s originally sourced from a British term, but in Australia it was historically applied to immigrants that arrived post WW2 from Italy and Greece) and curry muncher. It’s wouldn’t be said often these days (I hope) unless it was in satire like this. One interesting point…. The police officer isn’t wearing a seat belt. That is likely intentional to poke fun. Australia was the first country to mandate both front and back seat belts with front being first and back being mandated in 70’s. It would be rare for anyone to be missing their seatbelt.

I got pulled over for speeding when I was 17 in my Dads car heading back alone from my Grandfathers funeral because I had to be back in the city for work the next day. Anyway the Sergeant asks where I was coming from and I told him, he asked why I was there and I told him. I admitted I was probably speeding and I hadn't been paying any attention to it. He just asked if the car was the V8 model and I said yes so he just told me to focus on staying on top of it because I was young and inexperienced. He let me go and said he was sorry to hear about Grandad but I had a long drive ahead and needed to get home in one piece.

One thing some hate and some like... depending on WHY you're interacting with them...there has become this parent/child dynamic that can be condescending I guess, but I didn't mind when I got pulled over recently when I genuinely forgot to register the car! Covid meant I wasn't going out much but was on my way hook be from the vet with our dog and cat and was like 500 metres from my place when they put up! I was mortified and while they checked me on the system I called my son to come help me get the cat and dog home. He came back while I was telling my son what happened and I explained I just lived 4 houses down and he told me I could drive home! They watched me to make sure I went straight home but not only did they let me (illegally, shh) drive my unregistered car, they didn't give me the like $700AUD fine they could've rightfully given me! In Australia we’re still allowed to be a bit “racist” for the sake of a laugh (but there are very few actually racist people, no one hangs out with them so there isn’t much motivation to be outright racist, everyone gets along pretty nicely and everyone who lives west of Newtown knows how to have a good laugh- light teasing is our way of making mates… as long as everyone is laughing there isn’t any harm in endearing stereotypes). So when he said “we have another Aussie on ice” the word Aussie meant Anglo, not Australian (so no, we aren’t known for always being high)😂 the channel name was “superwog” a wog is anyone who is from the Mediterranean/Middle East (I believe superwog is a second gen Leb so he probably isn’t even a real wog but anyway😂). He said “fat wog” and “curry muncher” (Indian). Our coppers do sometimes talk like that (they definitely drop the C and F bombs a lot which is interesting because public swearing can technically get you jail time (yeah that’s NEVER enforced, I can count on one hand the people who won’t be doing a lifetime sentence…)) but most people see the humour as long as they're let off with a warning instead of a fine... if they’re fined, forget it, the copper had better been on his best professional behaviour! The really sooky SJWs go to the human rights commission (essentially an organisation that has never done anything to stop actual abuses of human rights like outright discrimination, racism and sexism but destroys the careers of comedians who dared crack a joke) and get the officer sacked- they need to get a life in my opinion, dole is way too high here (you’re paid more to do nothing then get a part time job…)

Only thing is, it’s not a put on comedy skit like it is in the video for them, it’s simply who they are. I like this video. Makes for a good laugh. I love Aussie humor. Anything goes.

I got pulled over on the Hume Freeway for a speeding ticket (which happened because I didn’t know at the time that the cruise control should not be used when there’s water on the road) but then one of them decided to give me a lecture on my speed and pointed to my broken side mirror. I laughed in his face because the mirror was broken while the car was stationary in a car park where someone had recently side swiped my car. His face was priceless when I told him. 😂

This bloke OMG. He pulled me over let me go after he noticed we were having a snort, so he jumped the back seat. You do a good Aussie accent champ it's hardest accent to pull off. No 1 tries it even, Merril Streep struggled She sounded more like a Kiwi In the story of Azaria Chamberlain that case still entrenched my head & my heart. Lindy Chamberlain did not kill Baby Azaria.

“Wog” used to be so common in the 1970’s and 80’s. Now it’s a bit like the “N” word. My kids call themselves Wog Boys. But no one else better call them that lol

FYI, "Wog" has 2 meanings in Australian slang - 1) Racist slang word for Greek / Italian people. 2) generic sickness like the Flu or a cold.

Western Australia cops are known as cowboys, One ex WA cop wrote a book about WA cops, Cowboys in Uniform, the WA Police. Described many of the crooked things they were doing and named names. Heard he is now living overseas. book was available on line, but doesn't seem to be on line any more. WA is not known as the Wild West for nothing.

Should def watch more superwog. This guys funny as. Loving the vids. Keep it up boys and you definitely need to emphasise the A in the accent. Just stretch out the A a little more than the rest of the letters. If you say “Rise up lights” in your normal accent it sounds like razor blades in an Aussie accent.

The Superwog videos began as these two brothers with a Greek mother and Lebanese father sending up ( humorously teasing and ribbing) the differences between the Australian culture ( families, marriages, parenting, work practises, students, teachers , pastimes etc) and the immigrants and Aussie born/raised of basically Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern Wog (a deragatory slang term ) cultural background. Some eastern Europeans believe it relates to them as well because of the macho patriarchal cultural similarities. In today's intergenerational mix of Aussie/Wog blended families people can laugh about the Wog tag but not if an outsider uses it. This vid is how these brothers portray the way the two rookie cops would act and speak if they were so entrenched in the negative side of their parents culture that they would act like Superwogs. You've really got to check out the older Superwog videos if you want to see Theo giving an impression of his mum in full drag. He really is surprisingly pretty....and hilarious interacting with his brother as their mad as a meat axe dad. They also portray the negative side of Aussie culture as well.

OMG I had an incident one time with the breathalyzer where I could not blow hard enough, thank God the Aussie cops were okay about it and only made me go down to the police station. I had a really bad incident though with a Australian copper. I was upset over something and cried in a bus stop.. cops saw me and suddenly i have 5 police cars there with cops saying I should go to hospital in an ambulance for a check up (just cause I was crying over something). I refused and this idiot cop pulled my hands up behind my back hard and tore my shoulder tendon and would not believe that I was in pain when I started screaming. I put in a complaint over it with a medical report of the damage they did to me and they just sent my complaint to their lawyer and that policeman didnt even get into trouble and he mocked me about that he didnt get into trouble, the next time he saw me

If you want a insight into the poverty side of Australia and something funny as hell to react to, check out the Tv series (Housos) there's 3 seasons and 2 movies plus other things like (Fat Pizza) and (Swift and Shift Curriers) it's complete utter chaos and madness, but i spent the first 15 years of my life before moving away in this exact same setting in what you would call "the projects" in the US and it's scary how accurate they are with what goes on here is Aus 😁

Lol be advised that the word "cunt" is a term of endearment in Australia, eg "my brother's a sick cunt" means my brother is fantastic. The word "old mate" is often used to address a stranger, eg "old mate in the car in front is driving like a fuck-stick." We often answer questions with the response "yeah-nah", which translates to yeah I acknowledge what you're saying but no I don't agree with you. We also punctuate our sentences with profanity. Check out Arj Barker's take on our language ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YYQ0_9Ha4Gw.html
