And got obliterated the same, cuz you can't fight reason with ideology. I'm not saying Jordan speaks truth, but at the very least he thinks before he speaks(and I picture him as thinking a lot) and he speaks with reason, instead of just regurgitating the same script over and over and over. That's why these interviews are nigh pointless, they throw that same stuff at him over and over and he has already figured out flaws in the arguments, the contradictions and whatnot, only they don't realize it. And I think he states this beautifully by saying: "I'm not hearing what you think, i'm hearing how you're able to represent the ideology you were taught." . That's about a civilized as you can say: "You have nothing of interest to tell me." "I could replace you with somebody else who thinks the same," is nothing less but an instant knockout...

Just incidentally, she's wrong about the whole "the ownership of women transferred to men" thing in the name change. Instead, it was that they changed to have one legal identity. When this all started (9th century, IIRC), women weren't allowed to enter into contracts by themselves, so this allowed them to speak on the behalf of their families, enter into contracts as the one legal identity of the surname. The whole "women became property of the man" thing is total crap.

It took me a long time to recognize that the history of western civilization is the history of the systematic oppression of men by women and the subjugation of men to the needs and increasingly demands of women. Men have only begun to wake up and free themselves of the burden of women. It will destroy civilization in the process but men will enjoy a brief interval of peace and freedom just before the collapse which is something at least.

Two things I love about this - your comments about the interview and your reactions to her interview style but also the comments so far that are showing how much we are starting to recognise that these 'interviews' are not 'interviews' at all but platforms for the 'interviewer' to make their own case - very much like the BBC current affairs programmes like Newsnight. As such they take away from us the intended role of the BBC as a news reporting organisation (amongst its other roles).

I've listen to this interview several times. What strikes me the most about Helen Lewis's perspective is how myopic it is. She looks back at history through one lens; men against women. That's it. That form of historical analysis will of course give you skewed results. If I look back at history through the lens of white men against black men I of course will find many valid reference points, but if I broaden my perspective a bit I will find instances of white and black men working together to better common goals i.e. labor strikes or soldiers in the field where the color of someone who is saving your life has no significance. As Peterson points out, men and women have worked together throughout history just to survive. Helen's perspective is a bit infantile in this regard. She wished to show men solely as oppressors. Why is that? She isn't as much pro-woman as she is anti-men. I find this type of myopic gender bias erosive and dangerous.

Good points! A few years ago, I assisted my sister-in-law with peer review for a paper that she was writing. She is an administrator at one of the best public school districts in America (it's a public charter school). Her school district nearly has a 100% college acceptance rate. Of those who choose to attend college, the rate of graduation is nearly 100% too. Yet, interestingly, the school district is primarily filled with students from an otherwise "at-risk" demographic. The paper that she was writing focused on the major variables for success. She accessed quite a bit of data and grouped the variables together. The most interesting correlation was in the area of broken homes. Children from broken, single-parent homes are most likely to struggle in school. This is a major factor in certain demographic communities that struggle to keep up in schools. Whereas things like primary language and income levels were assumed to be the strongest correlation to poor academic performance, it wasn't the case in certain non-English demographics (e.g., Asian-American, European-American, etc. students). Poverty also played less of a role in those communities too. The catalyst, it seemed, was that "under-performing" children tended to come from a single-parent home. In fact, the single-parent homes where the father was the single parent did better than in single-mother homes. In every other primary variable used to find correlation, the children from a single-mother household variant performed significantly worse. In fact, when you cross-tabulated every other variable (e.g., low income, parents with criminal record, ESL [English Second Language] households, immigrants, parental education levels, etc.), the single-parent variable resulted in significant deficiency in a child's level of educational performance and/or achievement. What's more: The difference between a single-mother and a single-father home was stark. The single-father homes performed much closer to the overall average while single-mother homes performed the worst. Even in this particular public charter school district, the children from single-mother homes still lagged behind in test scores, grade point averages and even success in college. After her paper was completed, she was discouraged from submitting it for publication. Her district decided that it was "too controversial" and that it would "open a can of worms." However, the stats themselves were undeniable.

It's low resolution and typical of her cult. They profess to know the cause of all the world's ill's.... and of course it's men. Modern life in the West is relatively easy by my Grandparents standard so they now wish to correct their perceived injustices based on sex, race and sexuality. A Forrest is easy to see from a mile away but you can't navigate your way through it until you're up close and see the space between the tree trunks.

Well articulated and exactly right , if you look through history with a pre conceived agenda then you will always find and pick out the evidence to suit your premise, theres a lot of history to select from. As for the idea ' was it it a man's led world ' back in the day the answer is yes but not through some bullshit patriarchy! It was through an alpha type situation in which many men were dumped on too and quite often much worse than women . The Alpha in these older times was always going to be male that doesn't mean that there's a modern patriarchy and if there is then why do most men not know where to join it lol.

@@rayalbion9637 It's also hard to lead an army in battle on horseback to defend your kingdom while being pregnant to name a practical point. Women in those days had many children, most of them who wouldn't live to see adulthood. Having up to 10 children was quite common until WW2 as there were hardly any contraceptives, which means of your somewhat 50-60 years or so life, 15 were spend as a child, 10 as a senior unable to properly fight and 10 years being either pregnant or care for the infant. No wonder they sent men into battle, not only were they far stronger on average but also far more replaceable then women back in those days.
@joeldykman7591
@joeldykman7591 4 года назад
@@rey_nemaattori I think people forget how much the world progressed prior to the suffragette movement. The average lifespan dramatically improved due to more effective medication and treatments meaning married couples didnt need 8+ children to insure their family line. Before then, it was fairly common for 4 or 5 of your children to succumb to a myriad of diseases, at the turn of the 20th century that wasnt nearly as much of a threat. And i think thats where theres this disconnect modern feminism has with the past. Universal suffrage is their turning point, motherhood was at a diminished demand so they had excess time which led to women dabbling more into the workforce (which thanks to mechanization) competing with men. Though it would take ww2 to fully integrate women into the workforce, though despite the notion that 'women just grew to love working' is partially true, I think the real reason is that the economy adjusted to women in the workforce and going back to a single income household became increasingly untenable. Women of the 20th century could rely on technological innovation to compensate for their general physical shortcomings to men, therefore their dependency on men as hunter/gatherers diminished and the laws slowly changed to represent that.

I've watched the whole interview more than once and it struck me how testy he was compared to other interviews. Peterson himself has said as much; that on reflection he had less patience than he would have liked, and it made him pause to reflect on the controversies in which he was mired at the time. He also noted that upon first meeting him before the cameras rolled, Helen Lewis was openly hostile towards him; not venturing to extend him the professional courtesy of a civil greeting or polite small talk, which even Ms. Newman had managed during their time in makeup.

Jordan Peterson is so calm, focused and razor sharp. He treats her with respect, he doesn't patronise her, he treats her as an equal and challenges her as such. She isn't intimidated by him and is clearly is very opinionated, I think she holds her own quite well compared to most but it's clear that she is outclassed.

The real problem is that moral relativism is in the Church. I attend an anglican church and it now reflects our fallen society far more than it reflects God's word. They are really dedicated to saving the environment in my church which is finite and not that interested is saving the souls of man ( I use the term man as stated in Genesis 1.17) which is infinite. I agree we have a responsibility for the environment but according to my Bible God will end this earth when he returns. We won't destroy it. I greatly admire JP and what he says but he denies the power and is thus himself in a terrible position. I also do not know his heart.

I’ve watched almost every single one of your videos and I find them very enjoyable. I find it really interesting seeing your attitude towards things. It’s also refreshing seeing other conservatives/traditionalists in London. I sometimes feel like an alien here. I must say it was very funny watching you as a couple deal with a disagreement on your interpretations at around 18mins. And the after the husband’s patient explanation that I found very interesting and insightful, the wife comes back again with another point that I simply couldn’t follow, and the husband simply gives up and says “I don’t know”. I would have enjoyed a reaction to the full clip. But thanks!

Great to hear your take on this. Similar to mine. Part ending "Why have a conversation" actually put into words for me what I have seen so often. The social scene and one gets a few hints of someones , who you have never met, political leaning and you then know exactly what is coming line and verse. In many other situations too. I guess you could call it "Telegraphing their punches." Look forward to more of your work. Cheers

I have already watched the full interview more than once. I follow Jordan Peterson closely. He is much maligned but still he goes on fighting to improve the lives and well-being of so many desperate people. I dont have time to watch the whole video right now but will certainly come back and do so, but i wanted to leave a comment on the first 6+ mins i just watched. I love your reactions and analysis of this material and your support for JBP and your sharing of his principles. Ive been subbed for 2-3 years now. its a crying shame that you guys dont have 10x more subs than you have. Please, please, please go on being yourselves and sharing your content but dont stick your heads too far above the parapet.

I am a big Jordan Peterson fan. This is how I found you. I love your discussions. Not to pry but, are yall having trouble in your family? Some of your discussions seem off. I am rambling but, I am beginning to see myself as a soul eater. I am good at listening and giving you serious and from my perspective of your perspective honest thoughts. Anyone out there with me? I do love the first video of a "React" though. I think yall have great potential to do live streams. As long as you stay real and stay personable. Keep up the good work. **edit* I liked and subscribed. This is a conversation.*

What Jordan Peterson said about acting as if god exists, is essentially an agnostics way of dealing with Pascal's Wager. Basically the idea is if you bet on god existing or not existing, then there are more serious consequences for assuming he doesn't exist and acting with that assumption, so the safer bet pragmatically is to act as if he does exist even if he doesn't because you are secured for either eventuality.

This reaction video made me remember Dr. Peterson at his best: quick, sharp, refined and always two steps ahead of the interlocutor. Thanks. I really hope he gets better, but regardless, he left us with some great content and an excellent model in debating these ideologues. Even now, they continue attacking and defaming him, while he is sick and can't respond. Shows their class (or lack thereof) and how triggered they are.

I also love that, as with the Atwood section, you dont pretend to know everything. The honesty you both give us is refreshing. I hope others also want these longer formats. Love what you are doing here. I think Dr. Peterson would put you two among the interesting, surprising, personally integrating persons. The algorithm analogy was very helpful. It is almost as if humans who are ideologically possessed would no longer be able to pass the Turing test and instead, intellectually appear to be machines.

Well you know, even though it's a badly conducted interview, I'm glad these sorts of conversations are happening out in public. Because Jordan is just so well composed and such a great debater it really layes bare, the simplistic and dogmatic nature of the other side arguing. The whole game is to frame him as the bad sexist white oppressor, but he is having none of it. You can almost see the panic strike halfway through the interview when the acuser realised this strategy isn't working on Peterson. It's very simmilar to what happened with Newman, even though what she did at least looked something like an interview. Jordan I know you've fallen on hard times. Just know that when I was in a dark place, your words and guidance from your book helped me out of it. Know that many peoples hearts and minds are with you, praying and hoping for a speedy recovery. You will overcome it.
