Americans idea is still closer than your post to be fair. Also do you really think the outskirts of Tokyo is the same as the centre? It's a far more extreme difference than there is between the centre of London and the outer areas.

@@wyterabitt2149 yeah 100% it’s very different But I mean the general vibe London only the centre seems to be engraved in people’s brains and in a very glorified version yk And that’s with most countries and cities that are “big” or well known for specific things but a lot of the times with Americans I’ve noticed they really glorify the uk as their image of its entirety is often just centre london or other “rich” parts of it

@@wyterabitt2149 The law that says how many multiples a spirit pour should be is British although the unit itself is metric now (used to be imperial but EU laws changed it.)

Japan is notorious for being very behind in many ways, just as many as they are in any way more "modern". It's a nightmare in some ways. And they are not really very ahead, Japans culture of constant rebuilding has made things like infrastructure easier to keep developed to the very latest though so they do have that advantage. And places like Shanghai have poverty ghettos up there with the worst on the planet, and many other issues. No places is really better, at least in most modern cites and/or countries. But people massively overstate some places like Tokyo because of what they appear to be on the surface.
