I’m in the french army, what you eat is an RIE (~ Individual Exercice Ration), we use it for very short exercices in France and ... well we don’t like it 🤣 , the real Combat ration is far more better 👍

We always traded boxes of MREs with the French ST guys down range. I think they liked ours for the novelty, but demon theirs were so much better...

We did the same with British ORP, though the french mostly didnt like ours so we would trade an 24h ORP for 3 US MRE then swap 2 MRE for an RCIR and then keep the best MRE (Beef patty lol) and the RCIR 😋

Yenko not necessarily and just because they call it that doesn't mean that's what it is. If I got that I would heat mine up and it would definitely be better that way, and it's in one of the same kinds of cans as the definitely-to-be-heated-up stuff so they clearly are giving you the option

When I was in the Berlin Brigade, a volunteer platoon of us got to attend one of the French Army Commando Schools. For the 36 hour survival and land navigation course we were issued a French Emergency Rations box. It was excellent! It even had a small bottle of Liqueur.

This may sound weird, but toilet paper is also a less-than-ideal replacement when you run out of fuel tabs for pate (potted meat). It can heat up a can enough to make it palatable.

During Operation Desert Storm, my unit was collocated with the French Foreign Legion. It is the Legion that would most likely eat a majority of these MRE's. I think. I loved the French MRE's, and traded for them every chance I got. My all time favorite was lamb and (white) beans. But I relished them all. - Man! Y'all are super picky!

The thing I have a problem about putting down the French as an American is that without them we might not have won the revolutionary war. All that freedom you like waking up to everyday is thanks to them. Aside from that I enjoyed the video (yes I know he wasn't too serious about the French jokes it's just that some people take that topic too far)

Moreover above them in the classification it is only big countries or countries that concentrate on the army while the speciality of France is not the war but the other domains at which they excel. "Francophobes" France has essentially lost all of the conflicts it has engaged since WW2. It surrendered to Germany, then surrendered to the Vietnamese At no point has the US been forced to surrender to another nation. In 1973 the US brokered the Paris Peace Accords, which was a peace treaty ending the war and establishing both North and South Vietnam as separate governments. The US proceeded to end its military involvement in the region, similar to what happened in South Korea.

The French had 1,357000 KIA in WW1. The French Army had 377,231 casualties at the battle of Verdun; that's three hundred and seventy seven thousand dead. In one battle. The French Army killed 570,000 Germans at Verdun. Show a little respect.

I like that they don't heat them up. We were never permitted to use our heat tabs in the field. Couldn't use our shelter halves either but we had to lug them around everywhere we went. Good times.
