2024... And Who is still Watching this "One Thing" Amerie... ❤.. This Performance was and is still Fenomenal.. She was ahead for her age /time and era... 👌🏼👍🏼
I don't think people are close to understanding how hard it is to hit these notes and lyrics effortlessly with dancing on top of it!!! What an amazing performance
The industry is the DEVIL!!! The industry ensured Beyonce was the ONLY it girl. Amerie, Teari Mari... They all came out at the same time, but their careers didn't take of while Beyonce's did and still is.
@@lana2658baby … no amerie was solo and had a number one album during this album! And Beyoncé was still stuck in the group. She literally did bite. Just like she steals a lot of ideas …. This isn’t new behavior. 😊
@@lana2658 Amerie's first song was in like 2002 so she was a solo act before Beyonce and many in the industry have said that it is because of Beyonce that her career came to an end (and many others, one that's no longer with us) and she did bit her style... yet that can't be put totally on Beyonce as the labels and I suppose the camel pushed for the machine to push her music more and give her the best songs and writers.
Good performance but she's not singing this live. She is clearly mostly lip syncing off a track. You can especially see it at the 2:07 mark where her mouth is closed and yet you hear the singing. She chimes in every now and then but this is a track.
uh the fuck? you know what a backing track is right? of course she's not going 2 be able 2 sing ALL the parts live... lol u expect her 2 not only sing the main melody but do the harmonies too at the same time?? that's why we have backup singers.. and backing tracks
You can clearly hear where she is singing live smh. People will downplay anything, she sounds like this mostly when she sings live but anyways people always hate more than love in this world...
Reading the back story to Amerie. Its disgraceful her producer/record label didn't give the same profile around the time of Beyonce & JL. Amerie deserved better. I remember playing the song/video, "I Thing" to death. ❤
Agreed, but that's why Janet, Ashanti, Tiara Marie, and Amerie careers where tanked and Aliyah was deleted to make way for Bey. It was all calculated so she wouldn't have any competition. That truth was revealed not too long ago.
First, Beyonce, didn't steal anything from anyone. Just goes to show your complete ignorance, on the subject. Both Crazy In Love, which came out in 2003, and One Thing, which came out in 2005. Were both co-written and produced by Rich Harrison. Why doesn't he ever get any of this ridiculous smoke. Maybe, we're more comfortable pitting women against women!
@@calmness7443 I’m not much of an R&B person, because I listen to Gospel 90% of the time. Of course, I’m fine with romantic R&B. But I’ve over 45, so if she’s from the 90s, I wouldn’t know her unless she was super famous. But I like some of H.E.R music, and I use to listen to India Arie, but I don’t hear her much these days. And I love Beyoncé’s voice and Fantasia!
@@sir3958yup, now we see what happens to genuine talent. Not just to Amerie who is fantastic, but the whole talented choreo production team who innovated their video and show product will simply be moved with their product like chess pieces to another artist that the music management execs prefer to promote because she/he might make better numbers for stakeholders at their AGM.
Its because she copied and studied Beyonce‘s whole 2003 performances with crazy in love in 2003!!!😉but this is what happens when you lack originality hahahahha she is a flop bi..
You can always tell which artist sell their soul to the industry. Amerie is one that didn’t sell her soul. She still has her beauty, talent, intellect, and a beautiful family. ❤
😂😂😂 how are y’all so broke in real life but you know secrets like soul selling and the Illuminati? Are you too an lazy to capitalize off all this Knowledge you have ? Imagine knowing everything y’all claim to know and waking up broke ass fuck everyday !
Man they turned up!! This was real stage performance!! And they’re not naked!!!! And can sing!!! These new age r n b singers should learn from this !! This was my generation of music. The early 2000’s. In my early 20’s!! Yessir!! ❤
Amerie is incredibly talented and absolutely stunning. Her backup dancers, the choreography, Sheila E and her musicians are 🔥 in this amazing performance. They did not miss a beat, Amerie is in a class all by herself. She doesn't need to be compared to any other female artists of other various genres of music. This is my favorite song by Amerie and I'm still jamming it in the Summer of 2023!!!!!!!!!!
THere are some of Amerie's performances from back in 2002: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yXnpSwb2Ie4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aJyyioB2SZg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZZ9NFHGO7Dw.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JmAmgUN8oog.html Now here's Beyoncé performing back in 2002 at around the very same time when Amerie came out with the above performances: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L35LUrZ2bp4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HfH7oakoacs.html Beyoncé CLEARLY had that swag from day one, back when Amerie was still very much giving amateur hour on the stage. Bee was already doing the live band, high energy, short skirts/shorts, legs on full display, strutting and dancing in heels, hairography, squad of sexy all female background dancers, basically "young Tina Turner" inspired performances, loooong before Amerie. Bee even featured a special appearance from the famous female drummer Shelia E. in her band back in her 2002 performance in Leno, an idea Amerie later "stole" in THAT 2005 performance.
She was medium big, wasn't big like Alicia keys, Usher or Beyonce, as a matter of fact this is the "only" song most people know her for, and most of them heard it on gta v. She still fine tho.
Omg, she sounds unbelievable. I feel so proud of her! I feel like Amerie got robbed of her full potential and appeal to the masses. Constantly being compared and overshadowed by Beyoncé. I love Beyoncé, she is amAzing. But I love Amerie too. There shoud have been room for both of them.
Actually she teached Beyoncé how to perform, before 2006 and B'Day era, Beyoncé performances were very humdrum... Also that funky jazzy style that defines Amerie's music was stoled by Bey since Harrison was the producer of both of them back in the day... (He's the writer of Crazy In Love) and he was working with Amerie way before Beyoncé did it, so what would have happened if he would have given that song to Amerie first and not Beyoncé?. The only difference between them is that Amerie is a true writer of her own songs, and Beyoncé don't... That's why Ameriie is underrated. It's such a shame.
RichGir l um, no. You can clearly hear her voice going up and down, as in being live. If it was pre recorded it would be perfectly leveled. In the chorus there is a backing track. But the versus is all her.
Please, she is not underrated, any of her songs that were exposed were highly rated. Volume is what keeps an artist out there to receive the accolades you think she deserves. For whatever reason she stopped. Where others continued. Growing and experimenting. She can definitely return and be a force to reckon with. She's smarter with all those books and still has the "show" in show business. Again I say she is underexposed rather than underrated. Join her book club maybe you can talk her into doing some music too.
It’s shocking how short lived her time in the spotlight was, she’s an amazing artist and performer, in addition to the fact that she’s drop-dead gorgeous
I know right!! Im kinda getting tired of Beyonce'. Im sorry. No offense but she is becoming way to sexual!! her music means nothing. They need more artists like amerie, ashanti, jojo, and Mar j Blidge, fantasia, mya, monica, Aaliyah!! (R.I.P.),etc! etc!! I mean even Alicia keys new stuff is getting on my nerves...
Beyoncé made it to the top and Amerie didn't .. but Amerie didn't have to conjure another personality to perform either. Maybe she just wasn't willing to be down with what was being required to be on top...
Ehmm no?? She thought she can copy one of the greatest artists whole 2003 style and can get away with that!! But the people didn’t buy it and she flopped so
Supposedly Beyoncé stole her sound and almost stole this song (her or J lo did) and this was released early/leaked so it would be known this was Aamerie’s song and style smh. It’s a dirty business
All ima say is…this girl vocal range dance moves and breath control is a beast and had it not been for a shady music industry…this girl was a force to be reckoned with!!! But of course it’s not what u know (or in this case how well u are as an entertainer) but WHO U KNOW AND HOW MUCH U WILLING TO PAY! But this girl could’ve made the industry millions had they put the funds up to back her!!!!

I’m so proud of her for not selling her soul and chose to get her degree and move on with her life. I mean this is what you call a success because the majority of singers aren’t gonna be megastars let alone a star so to experience what she has is a blessing but she clearly had a game plan beyond music
Amen. She had the real talent but did not sell her soul. She is doing all right for herself. But a true lady through it all. Remember Satan gives to whom he chooses but she was not for selling her soul.
@@Lilith816 It depends on the level. Some artists actually sacrifice a part of their soul for fame. It’s smart to be totally independent bypassing the machine.
Woah I had no idea Amerie was such a threat. One thing is a very hard song to sing yet her vocals were on point even while dancing. Makes it even more sad that her label dropped the ball. There was so much potential.
I really miss Amerie she was so talented and really could sing her but off her career was so short she truly deserved so much more God Bless her wherever she may be ❤❤
I know how you feel, music will never be the same man. But she has new music and it's the same Amerie we all love, it's called out loud, omg its fire!! ❤️❤️
The story has been told multiple times by Amerie and many artists who were around at the time. Amerie who is from the DMV and Rich had been working together song about 2000, Amerie’s solo record came out in 02, Beyonce at the time wanted to go solo so she was looking for songs and productions for the album known as DIL. Beyoncé’s DAD, was head of Sony’s urban department at the time and he was basically handling everyone including DC3, Beyonce, Kelly, Solange, JLO, Amerie etc… Amerie had been experimenting for her next solo effort around 02-03 and she started incorporating gogo sound to her music. Daddy Knowles enjoyed it and asked Rich to basically copy the sound and make a tune or multiple for Beyonce, one stuck out and it was CIL! Beyoncé’s first song out was “work it out” and it TANKED bad, so her dad who is extremely business savvy, decided to go ahead with CIL! It became a smash and later everyone including JLO wanted a piece of Amerie and Rich’s sound hence why you have Get Right. Amerie who was an artist under Matthew Knowles supervision had her album pushed back hence why it only came around 04/05 because budget wise everything went to Beyoncé’s record and promo. Now I love Beyoncé, she is hard working and excellent at her craft but but she definitely did some shady ish on her way to the top.
I still STAN. Yaas girl. See, Amerie has the ability to have fun, be sexy and talented and not present an attitude like, "I'm better than you". She still seems humble even today. Unlike the other one who stole her song, sound and all her moves. I don't have anything against her personally but she has yet to give me an authentic feel as Amerie does. Anyway, keep rockin, y'all.
BIIIG FACTS!!! I was a Beyoncé stan since my early teens & even then, I was unbias enough to admit that Amerie was THE artist/performer before Beyoncé ever was. Not to take away from the phenomenon that Beyoncé grew to become, BUT Amerie had it first - and I firmly believe that had the industry not maliciously do what they did to her; she'd have given Beyoncé a run for her money. This performance alone for me exudes the type of performance Beyoncé gave 2 years later on her 'The Beyoncé Experience' tour.
You already know. She keeping the percussion tight you know them drums is her thing. She get crazy busy too(tossing drum sticks in the air catching them staying on rhythm)Shelia E nice wit it.
There was absolutely nobody back then and up till now who could and can do what Amerie did back then. This woman is absolutely so gifted. I got goosebumps for real🔥🔥🔥
Sadly they didn't want to push her into the front but she is a excellent performer I don't understand there is plenty of room for her but than again some of these artists sell their souls and Amerie was too smart for that 💯💯👏🌟👍💙
