Please do not take this as a good game (conversion) for the Amiga platform. This game sucked and the reviews about it considered it as…crap! And that‘s what it is imho…

The PC Engine port for this game was also pretty bad, but the PC Engine was an amazing console. Individual bad ports of games aren't usually indicators of the capabilities of said console.

@@avenuePad I had the Genesis version which was of course fantastic. I was just reminiscing during this time where we had no internet really and relied on those awesome pc magazines to get news of games. Generally speaking see Amiga game ads had pictures with games with amazing graphics... Street Fighter 1 and Strider come to mind but those ports were also terrible. The pics were just so tantalizing.

@@thaismagalhaes5928 Activision had the rights to port Altered Beast, along with several other titles, to the UK home computers of the time. There's versions for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and of course, the Amiga.

So was mine - and still is 😸👍🕹️.

Underprivileged you mean to say. You had your platforms and shooters and, well that was it. Besides arcade style games there was next to nothing on the MD, while we enjoyed the likes of monkey island games, flight sims, deep strategy games (not like the crap that was out on the MD), and pretty much anything that ypu can imagine. We also had our fare share of excellent arcade ports like pang, rainbow islands, silkworm, toki (how sucky was the MD version of it btw), snow bros, bubble bobble, new zealand story, super hang on (of ehich the arcade part was better than the MD thanks to trully analogue controls with the mouse), just to name a few. Good racing games in the likes if lotus esprit 1,2 and 3 (btw how much did that suck on the MD)... Need I say more? Meanwhile most of your games were basically the same thing with different gfx and sound (well since I mentioned sound feel free to weep with your wonderful MD fart sounds courtesy of the GEMS driver most games used).

The Amiga and Atari versions are very similar. The Turbografx does look nicer, but considering how powerful that system was the port should have been a lot better, so it's more disappointing.
