Amiga 500 Revision 3 Motherboard and ACE2 ChipRam Expansion Review 

Hi there , this is a so called Rev 3 type 2 or better Rev 5 type 1 board ( even it is labeled as rev 3 ) cause as you mentioned in the video the whole area of the discrete curcuit is empty and a standalone oscillator was installed . Unfortunately the yellow sticker is missing , but this board was probably build in week 22/87 or later , the first version started at week 12/87 untill 20/87 . But nice to see someone engaged on that old stuff :-))) Greetings

Great stuff =D There are quite a few of those "Megachip" modern clones! I fitted one a while back to my 2000 (video coming soon). One point - you already have a "Fat Agnus" on there! The new 8372A (supporting 1MB chip) is classed as the Fatter Agnus, the one on the ACE2 is the 8375 (supporting 2MB chip), referred to as the "Obese Agnus" by the community. The approach you've gone with is certainly the best way to treat a rev 3 board =D

There are many available software based PAL/NTSC switchers available on Aminet. At this time, no availability of ACE2 on iComp shop. They're gone forever, as it was a limited run. It was the best product of that kind, really.

Congrats. 🙂 What are the drawbacks on the rev3 compared to the more populair 6 boards? Besides of course the ChipMem limitations.

I would like to know how you got your Amiga working with that display. It looks great. I'm still using a composite 1701CRT which has faded over time from it's former glory. Thanks (p.s. ordered the ACE2 expansion per your review)

These agnes adapters were 170 euros! Better to buy an A500+ for this.

If you really want to use ECS Video Modes with your rev3 A500 you should use the Indivision ECS V2. That is an FPGA ECS Denise replacement wich gives you a flicker free VGA Video output. The Amiga resolution can go up to 1024x768x4 and the VGA output can be up to 1080p The Indivision ECS V2 can handle ECS Video modes if an ECS Agnus is installed (with the ACE2 you have one) To be 100% sure that it will work, you should ask at the icomp.de forum, but regarding on the product information page it should work with any A500.

40:00 need to be in 80 column mode, you're in 60.

Sorry but you don't know what you are talking about and you don't have the technical expertise. 8371 is PAL and the way you extracted the chip is totally wrong! I suggest you do some homework first.
