It is not biblical. Stay away from this error. The world will not become nicer and nicer until Jesus comes. It will get worse and worse. We cannot take over the world for Jesus. You cannot defend amillenialism using scripture.
Questions for Amill: 1. Can you explain how Satan is currently bound and not deceiving the nations (Rev 20:3) yet Satan is deceiving the nations at the same time (1 John 5:19; Rev 12:9)? 2. In your scheme WHEN do the events in Rev 20:7-10 take place? (NOTE Satan is released at that point which means Satan has been bound, I.e., has not been deceiving the nations.) 3. If “came to life” means a "spiritual conversion (?)" what does "beheaded" mean (Rev 20:4)? NOTE beheading comes before "came to life." 4. In Rev 20:4c-5 you have two resurrections, using the same words for both. So how is it possible that “the first resurrection” is not literal and the second resurrection is literal? (NOTE the noun anastasis always means a literal, physical resurrection of dead people.) 5. If there are no mortals in the kingdom how do you explain Isaiah 65-66? 6. Since in your view there’s only one resurrection of ALL the dead, what does “the rest of the dead mean” (Rev 20:5)?
Big for me was Hebrews 11, too, about some of the promises to Abraham and the fathers...the promise concerning the land was never about this age, but about the world to come! So many tears flowed from my eyes when I read this and Galatians 3 for myself: "By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance... For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God... These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth... But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city."

My view of the Millennium agrees with what Paul said in 2 Thess. 1:7-10, when Paul said Christ returns in "flaming fire" taking vengeance on those who do not obey the Gospel. The fire comes at the end of Rev. chapter 20. My view agrees with what Peter said in 2 Peter 3:10-13, when Peter said this earth is going to burn and "dissolve" when He comes as a thief on the day of the Lord. I appreciate amillennialism, its analysis of this age and focus on the glory of Christ here and now. But, in light of the Revelation to John, I found the historical premillennial perspective more straightforward when it comes to chronology. In the end, how God fulfills all things will likely be somewhat different than what we expect. (As was the case when Jesus came the first time.) It's not about knowing. It's about trusting.
I like this Dr Storms, I've had pretty much the same exact view one the main points, for several years. After getting frustrated for so long with reading books on eschatology, they all had holes. Finally went on it my own by listening to and reading the bible, took a lot of time and study, but I got there.

I am a Missouri Synod Lutheran baptized and confirmed, but I've also attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union for the past 5 years. I have also attended both an LCMS and CCCU University and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I say that to explain I'm not a new believer being tossed about by every new comfortable theory. I have never believed in the Rapture theory or the literal 1,000 year physical reign of Christ on Earth. I deeply appreciate this discussion on a (currently) unpopular belief of currently living in the millennium. My fear is that when the tribulation comes it's going to take A LOT of believers by surprise and cause them to fall away. If this is wrong you can laugh at us poor fools as we are taken up in the Rapture, but if it's right it's potentially is going to cause many believers to fall away as things become hell on Earth before judgement day.
i was raised Lutheran, i became born again when i was 33. i was very religious and involved in the denomination. Then i met my SAVIOR and haven't looked back. The first thing i did was read my Bible cover to cover and i can say like Paul the scales fell from eyes! GOD's WORD is so very clear to me now. As a Lutheran i couldn't understand it @ all. i'm a excited to belong to JESUS!!! Yes there's a coming 7 year Tribulation, yes there's a man of lawlessness coming, yes there's a Rapture! JESUS meets HIS bride in the air, the dead rise first and those who are alive join them. Mortality putting on immortality!!! i have a lot of family who are very religious, but are not born again. They consider themselves "good" people, not the sinners they are. My heart aches for them! What we are going through today w/cvid is GOD in HIS Mercy calling people to HIMSELF... how many will humble themselves and cry out to HIM...

Well, if they've been elected to salvation then they'll stand, because no one and nothing can snatch them from Christ's hand, or the Father's hand.
Goodness you think a person who is born again and indwelt with the Holy Spirit and an joint heir of Christ is going to "fall away". Apparently you don't understand what salvation actually is. Salvation is what God does to an unbeliever when He choses to save him. This God saved individual did not achieve his own salvation by "repeating after me". You apparently believe that something or someone can removed God's child from Him. If you believe a person can lose their salvation you do not know Who saved them in the first place.

I can see Dr Storm’s approach with Ephesians but then Paul also wrote Romans and he specifically says that Israel are not cast off forever and in the end all Israel will be saved. He makes a clear distinction between Israel and the church. Acts 1:6 the Apostles ask Jesus about restoring the kingdom to Israel. He didn’t say He wouldn’t but jus told them it wasn’t for them to know when that time would be. He then commands them to go out in to the nations and share the gospel. We also have the of the Gentiles spoken of in Luke 21. There’s a clear distinction between Israel and the Gentiles.
Paul warned us against using "genealogies" in our faith in 1 Tim. 1:4, and Titus 3:9. The following reveals there is no Plan B of salvation outside of the New Covenant Church found in Romans chapter 11. Romans Chapter 11: In Romans 1:16 Paul said the Gospel was taken "first" to the Jews. This time period can be found in Matt. 10:5-7, and Acts 10:36-38, and Gal. 1:14-18. Many try to claim God never gave the Jews a chance to accept Christ, so there must be some Plan B of salvation before or during the Second Coming of Christ. Romans 1:16 proves they are wrong, since Paul said the Gospel went "first" to the Jews. Many ignore the fact that Peter addressed the crowd as "men of Judea", and as "men of Israel", and as "all the house of Israel" on the Day of Pentecost, when about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. The Gentiles were not grafted in until several years later. This passage proves Paul was right about the Gospel being taken "first" to the Jews. Paul reveals two different groups of Israelites in Romans 9:6-8. There is an Israel of the promise, and an Israel of the flesh. This is part of the context of Romans 11. Paul speaks about the "remnant" of Israel in Romans 9:27. This is also part of the context of Romans 11. Paul starts Romans 11 with two different groups of Israelites. In verse one Paul reveals he is still an Israelite, even after his conversion. Then Paul refers to two different groups of Israelites during the time of Elijah. There were the Baal worshippers, and there was the faithful "remnant". In verse five Paul says there is also a faithful "remnant" of Israelites during his time. This must be the Israelites who have accepted Christ, as on the Day of Pentecost. Paul uses the two olive trees as a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of believing Israelites, and believing Gentiles grafted together into the same tree. The unbelieving Israelites have been broken off but can be grafted back in through faith in Christ in verses 23-24. Verse 26 is the problem for many modern Christians. What does the verse actually say, and how is it changed by many in the modern Church. I have heard two of our nations famous preachers say the following. "And then all Israel will be saved..." I have heard another say the following. "And all Israel will be saved..." What does God's Word, recorded by the Apostle Paul actually say? Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: The English word "so" is translated from the Greek word "houto", which is an adverb of manner, instead of an adverb of timing. Some have changed the word from "so" to "then", in order to change the meaning of the verse. How will all of the "remnant" of Israel from Romans 9:27 be saved? The answer is found in the verses that precede verse 26 and are found below. Rom 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. Rom 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? Paul quoted from the OT in referring to the Deliverer coming out of Sion to pay for sin. Did this happen at Calvary, or will Jesus die again for His people in the future? Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. Verse 28 can only be understood by looking at how Paul started the passage. He started with two different groups of Israelites and he ends the passage in the same way. There are two different groups of "they" in verse 28. One group of "they" reject Christ and are the enemies of God, and another group of "they" are the election which accept Christ through hearing the Gospel and faith. Rom 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. Based on Luke 21:24b-28, the times of the Gentiles comes to fullness at the Second Coming of Christ.
I was pre mil dispy until i left my non denom church cause everyone hated my calvinism. One of the elders at the reformed presby church i started going to took me through revelation with a-mil perspective and my eyes were totally opened. At least some Amillennialists believe that the Christians who have died are ruling with Christ from Heaven. This takes place during the time between Christ’s First and Second Comings. They believe Satan is bound. Here is a major problem with that; If we just take a simple look at the world today it certainly does not appear that Satan is bound (so as not to deceive the nations) and Christ is ruling and reigning. If Satan is bound during the Church Age as per Amillennial doctrine, then why does scripture call him the god of this world? Also, if Satan was bound and Christ was reigning, do we really think we would have over a billion Muslims, who view Jesus as a prophet right below Mohamad, a billion Buddhists, who believe Jesus was an enlightened person, a billion Hindus, who believe Jesus studied yoga and became a guru to the Jews, a billion Catholics who are entrusting their souls to Mary at the hour of their death, nearly a billion atheists, the LGBTQ running rampant, TV shows and movies, that continually blaspheme God and His Christ, drinking, drugs, colleges that have become propaganda mills that promote Godless, Big-bang theology and Darwinian Evolution, human trafficking, and a host of other sinful deeds that will be eliminated during the reign of Jesus Christ, our Holy God. This is a good example of eisegesis; reading pre-conceived ideas into the text, rather than simply reading what the text is clearly stating. Also, with Christ ruling from Heaven, why does 2nd Timothy 3:1-13 say, "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God."
Jesus says, “There are other sheep who are not of this fold. I must bring them in also, and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” The passage you quoted does not disprove the reality of the true Israel being made up of Jews and Gentiles. A last days revival of Jews does not mean that Gentiles are not also part of the “one flock” and the “one new man.” Anyone is Christ is “Abraham’s seed” as Paul tells us in Galatians 3. And in Galatians 6 he tells us that there is an “Israel of God” which, by necessity, must also include Gentiles. Paul wrote Romans as well as he wrote Galatians and Ephesians. Same author. Same message. He is not speaking out of both ends of his mouth.
Pastor Sam Storms book is an excellent source for those who are looking for the truth. The Premill doctrine only works by claiming the Book of Revelation is in chronological order. Instead, it is a series of overlapping visions given to John on the Island of Patmos. It is a book of symbols. We know the "candlesticks" are a symbol of the churches, and the "stars" are a symbol of the angels, based on what Christ said in Revelation 1:20. The Second Coming is found at the end of chapter 6 with some of the same characters found in chapter 19 (kings, captains, mighty men, bond, free, etc.) hiding from the wrath of the Lamb. Why would they be hiding from the Lamb, if the Lamb is not present at that point in time? We also find signs in the sun, moon, and stars, as they are also found in the Olivet Discourse. ........................................ Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; Rev 19:18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. ............................................ The Second Coming is found at the end of chapter 11, with the 7th trumpet, which is the last trumpet in the Bible, and the time of the judgment of the dead in Revelation 11:15-18. The beginning of chapter 12 is a history lesson containing the fall of Satan, and the birth and death of Christ. The Second Coming is found in the "harvest" of chapter 14, which is related to the parable of the wheat and tares from Matthew chapter 13. The Second Coming is found when He "comes as a thief", at Armageddon, in Revelation 16:15-16. The greatest earthquake in history is also found in chapter 16. It is found in chapter 19. It is found when the fire comes, and the judgment of the dead occurs at the end of chapter 20. (See 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, for the fire at His return. The time of the judgment of the dead is also found in Revelation 11:18.) Why did Jesus correct the woman at the well when she said earthly Jerusalem was the place to worship? Why was Peter looking for the New Heavens and the New Earth in 2 Peter 3:10-13?
See my comment, but briefly and respectfully - how do you explain the near perfect alignment of Revelation 6 and Matthew 24, the olivet discourse? Why would John write about an event that happened 20 years prior? The biggest hold is that AD70 was the event talked about by Jesus in Matthew 24. No way! An army captain demolishes a temple, and yes commits atrocities including human trafficking..but...Not the big event Jesus is writing about!

Sam Storms is bang on. One phase Visible Second Coming on Last Day-The Great Day of Wrath and catching away of church bride, Judgment Day of all, followed by New Heaven and Earth or Lake of Fire. Being in Christ is our faith working through love, our confidence and Joy amidst the trials of life.

I think that cross referencing to Daniel 7 and matt.26 will take us away from that part of Matt. 24 dillinating the 2nd coming. I believe Matt. 24 is half 70AD and the rest, 2nd coming.

Thank you for this message. To be an amillennialist is to believe that Satan is bound and there is no demonic activity on the earth today. If that is the case, can you pinpoint the time in the past when Revelation 12 occurred? Blessings in Christ
No this is NOT correct. I have read nearly all Amillennialists and not one theologian that profess the Amillennial perspective who would say that there is no demonic activity on earth today. Instead the correct explanation would be that Satan is bound and restrained as he would not deceive the nations any longer, so the gospel is preached to the nations and all those who are His would hear the gospel and believe. I suggest reading someone who is an expert of a particular view and find out exactly what their view is. The problem that I found when reading someone who is a dispensationalist trying to explain the Amillennial view is that most of the time it’s not a correct representation of that view as you have said in this post which is also an incorrect representation. The last thing is Amillennialists do not read The Revelation chronologically. I’d encourage you to look into it yourself using authors and theologians with that perspective so you don’t get a false representation and that would be the same for the preterist perspective, the post millennial perspective as well as Classic premillennialist perspective also. I disagree with the first resurrection being movement into the intermediate state. Eph 2, Col 2, we were Dead until Christ made us alive. Jesus said when He gives us Life, we shall never die. Our bodies are the vessels of who we are. Our spirit will never die. The second resurrection is the receipt of glorified bodies into the eternal physical state. I will add, I tend to lean towards Amillennialism, but it's because I believe Revelation is the Interpretation / parallel of OT Prophecy regarding the Israelites in the Wilderness. There is nothing new Under the sun.... Verse 12 of this passage proves at least part of the tribulation period is the wrath of Satan upon the people of God. Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. The gathering of the Church is described at the end of 1 Thess. Chapter 4, and the timing of the event is found in chapter 5. The word “But” in the first verse of chapter 5 connects the two chapters, and the words “we” and “sleep” in verse 10 of chapter 5 prove the two chapters are connected.

As a new christian i was confused about all this, as i prayed and read and studied these passages THE HOLY SPIRIT revealed to me JESUS is speaking about the 70th week of Daniel and addresses Israel in these passages, not the Church. When the false believers start attacking the true believers - the end will be near. Very true. Everyone seems to ignore the context of Jesus’ initial claim regarding the temples destruction & disciples curiosity of this and jump straight to endtimes when reading Matthew 24. When in reality the majority of those verses speak exclusively on events leading up to 70AD.

I am reading Dr. Storms' book. It is worth buying. I would like to hear a response from a Premil, Post Trib New Testament scholar like D.A. Carson or Wayne Grudem to Dr. Storms' Amil position. There are just as many problems with the Amil view as there are with the Premil view.
A definite link between souls under the altar and when the bowl is lifted before God with the anguish and prayers of martyrs. God tells the souls to rest a little longer til the number of believers being killed is fulfilled. Once that number is reached, the Father tells the Son, it’s time and Christ returns.

The following proves you are correct. Since the New Covenant is “everlasting” in Hebrews 13:20, how is the New Covenant Church age going to end before the Second Coming of Christ? Why would anyone think God is going back to the Old Covenant system now made “obsolete” by the New Covenant in Hebrews 8:13? We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, modern Dispensational Theology falls apart, and the pretrib removal of the Church falls with it. The Capitol "C" Church, as we use the word today, is not found in the entire Book of Revelation. Individual church bodies in ancient Asia Minor are found. In Revelation 12:11 we find those under the blood of the Lamb. A person cannot be under the blood of the Lamb and not be a part of the New Covenant Church of Jesus Christ. Verse 12 of this passage proves at least part of the tribulation period is the wrath of Satan upon the people of God. Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. I'm always interested in what's behind (or underneath) the belief? WHY do they believe such and such? From Dr. Andy Woods, I've learned why people hold to a mid-trib and post-trib view...just note the sheer rage a post trib believer spews out against a pre-trib guy and you can understand their thinking and belief system. (generally works oriented). Dr. Woods also clarified the thinking/belief behind the mid-trib position as well, and the spiritual judging that comes out of it. The mid-trib/Left Behind folks end up judging other believers that in their view, need to "straighten up and fly straight...or else!" All while judging themselves to be "super saints". The Pre-Trib position is the only one that is equal across the board. It's not works oriented, and doesn't depend on any level of perceived holiness. (yes, those things are indeed judged by Christ, but it's at the bema seat...has nothing to do with the rapture). So, in regards to the AMELLINIAL, I'm wondering why someone holds to that. It helps tremendously to understand where the person is coming from when you talk to them.
Sam Storms does a good job and well experienced. Since the Messiah has 2 coming, could the interpretation of Matthew 24 have two fulfillments, being AD 70 and a 3.5 yr period at the End? Sam mentions a pattern, and Michael asks about it... there is also the archetype and anti-type application. I agree with Sam in an OT age ending in AD70 and a messianic NT age, TBD. What happened at AD70: The birth pains, gospel spreading, the AoD, the tribulation, and the judgement... will repeat. Has anyone ever considered Rev 20 and the 1000 years are actually 1 human year? How? What does the Bible say? a thousand years is like a day to God. And 1 prophetic day is 1 human year from Daniel 9, Ez 4. So the "millennial" 1000 years can be a 1 year campaign of Christ, after He returns, after the martyrs are raised, and the time he takes to establish rule and put all powers under his feet? I totally agree with Sam on the end getting worst, but at the same time, the harvest of the final remnant, revival, is/will happen, including the blind of Israel. I see a 3 year tribulation from Rev 11, two witnesses, who died and lay exposed for 3 days = 3 years. Then rapture as Christ comes back. The two witnesses are the two legs of the church, Jew and Gentile.
This amillenial view was confusing to me too. I agree with John macarthur on much, but not on eschatology. I believe the premill post trib view, not pre-trib like John MacArthur.
Here is the key moment, for me, in this interview. It is at 19:00. This is the biggest hole in amillenial, in my view. The way Jesus describes the terrible day of the Lord PALES in comparison to what really happened in AD70. No way that is what Jesus is talking about. AD 70 was a regional skirmish that involved an Army captain demolishing a temple and, yes, mocking God. But..this guy was not the Antichrist. C'mon. And yes many thousands were killed and enslaved...but...why did Jesus in the Olivet discourse say, "I have to intervene in this, otherwise no one would survive on the planet" (Major paraphrase). AD70 was not the event Jesus was talking about. Also, Revelation was written AFTER AD70 by 20 years...yet if you put Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 side by side (DO IT, Try this!) they literally align perfectly with each other. Just do it. Print it if you need to. Jesus is describing the order things happen in Mtthew 24, and in Revelation john is describing the order thigns happen in chapter 6. In the Olivet discourse, (Mat 24), Jesus follows Revelation 6 to a "TEE". Why "20 years after AD 70 temple destruction" is John writing about "Jesus opening the seals" of an event that was described by Jesus and already happened? It does not align. Biggest hole!
I agree. Also Jesus said all eyes would see Him coming in the clouds immediately after the tribulation. Plus Jerusalem had Jews there after 70AD. There was the Bar Kokhba revolution around 135AD.

Could not the restraining of the man of lawlessness mentioned in 2nd Thess. be in similar fashion to the restraining of Saran in Rev. 20? Sam touched on this around the halfway mark. Satan being bound and restrained so as to not deceive and rally the nations for battle. What Sam called "provoking a pre-mature Armageddon". Perhaps the restraining and "binding" (if you will) of the man of lawlessness is similar to the binding of Satan in Rev. 20. The decisive restraint of Satan is the same decisive restraint of the man of lawlessness, perhaps? In my mind, continuing with Sam's perspective on the binding of Satan in Rev. 20 could answer the question "why?"' the man of lawlessness needed to be restrained in the 1st century.. Therefore, I wonder if 2nd Thess. 8 and Rev. 20:9-10 are speaking about the same occurrence..? Just curious.
I've definetly had the same thought! Here's my reasoning (a bit long, but, something tells me you'll be able to follow along): With Christ's victory on the cross, the prince of the world was cast out (John 12:31). The devil could not stop the gospel from being preached to the nations (Rev. 20). Formerly, true worship had been confined to the Hebrews. The whole world lied in sin before the victory on the cross, the gentiles "having no hope, being without God" before Christ (Ephesians 2:12). "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8). The context surrounding John 12:31 is super important. In the immediately preceding verses as you might recall, Greeks wanted to see Jesus, and his response to the inquiry was a non-sequiter - he did not respond to the question about the Greeks who had come to see him. Instead, It's clear that he took the Greeks bothering the apostles to see him as a sign that it was time for him to be crucified and lifted up for all of mankind. Again, he does not respond to the inquiry. Instead, that is when Jesus says he, like a corn of wheat, must die to bring forth great fruit. This is followed with "Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." This hearkens back to John 3:14-15 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." There are Christians in every single country on earth, literally billions of them. The devil could not and cannot stop the nations from coming to Christ. He cannot stop the gospel from being preached and men from being saved. That is not to say that the wicked one does not deceive people or individuals, he certainly can and does - but his ability to deny to gospel to the nations was and remains prevented. The whole world knows the name of Jesus, despite some very dark days, especially when Saul was persecuting the church. The days of Israel being the only light to the nations are over. This is why, before the end comes, the wicked one will be loosed to take up his worldwide throne again at the head of all nations, to persecute and utterly destroy Christianity, which has been his desire since the start. This is why he is "loosed for a little season to deceive the nations" before the end, referenced in Rev 20. The restrainer referenced in Thessalonians will be loosened, and the evil one will deceive the nations, and become the head of the nations once again before the end comes. That occurs at the end of our present age, not 1000 years after Christ's return.
FYI, Titus is never shown to be an abomination. Even if we attribute the little horn to Titus as a Preterist fulfillment, that little horn of Daniel 7 is never called an abomination. The little Horn of Daniel 8 does imply abom and does mention desolation.
In Rev 20:4 some versions have "they lived and reigned" (KJV, NKJV, ASV, WEB, Douay-Rheims, Wuest, Noah Webster, The Message, Darby), and some have "came to life and reigned" (NET, ESV, RSV, NLT, TEV, NIV, NT in Modern English ). YLT has "they did live and reign." Bible in Basic English has "living and ruling." In Greek, it is "ἔζησαν καὶ ἐβασίλευσαν" meaning "lived and reigned." In 20:5 the word is "ανεζησαν" which means "lived again." In either case, the word does not necessarily imply a physical resurrection. Only that someone lived or lived again. 20:5.. "But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection." The nearest antecedent to "This is the first resurrection" is "the rest of the dead," It does not exclude them (the 20:5 group) by jumping back to 20:4 and applying the first resurrection to the thousand-year group only. That has been the traditional trend in exegeting this passage. The first resurrection qualifies both groups. No second resurrection is mentioned.
If the eschatological horse that you bet on actually does come in first place at the end, there will be no extra reward like 72 virgins because you were right… You can’t ever really be completely dogmatic about eschatology… It’s not worth dividing over. The average Christian’s life is consistently confronted with doubt, so how can anybody be dogmatic with regard to eschatology?
I used to think the same way but Amillennialism is the only view that all of the Christian traditions have in common. Amillennialism is found in Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and some Protestant traditions. The other eschatological views are only found in certain Protestant circles.
I really enjoy Remnant Radio I am not used to hearing theology and views on topics like Spiritual Gifts and Eschatology that I agree with across the board in every local church expression I have been in I have always been out of step with the majority in one way or the other particularly in regard to those two areas.
I've read most of the comments, maybe I can help with the "2 resurrections" in Rev 20. "They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years." - First resurrection is spiritual, this is NOT a physical resurrection. Jesus told Nicodemus, "you must be born again." This res only applies to ALL believers, for all time. This is God's work, He brings us to life. "While you were DEAD in trespasses and sins, God made you alive." This is why we are blessed and holy for sharing in this first resurrection. -The thousand years is referring to the time of the cross until His Second Advent. - "The rest of the DEAD that come to life at the end of the 1,000" years is a PHYSICAL resurrection, of UNBELIEVERS ONLY. They must get new bodies in order to bow the knee and confess with a tongue, that Jesus is Lord. They then get a second death, when they are destroyed and cast into the lake of fire. . 2 physical deaths, no spiritual resurrection. For believers, a spiritual resurrection, no harm from a second death, because we get new bodies that live forever. AMEN, to God be the praise and glory!

Here’s a pattern for you: the religious elite of the day did not see the Messiah because they didn’t take the prophetic scriptures regarding his arrival literally. Which is exactly what the theologians are doing again today. You think the rabbis read about their avenger arriving on the colt of a donkey and saw a literal prophecy ? No, not likely. Which is why they missed everything. This pattern continues today with the big intellectual theologians attempting to contrive meanings out of literal prophecy. Jesus fulfilled hundreds of LITERAL prophecies in his first coming, many of which made the highly educated scholars of the day look like fools (1 Corinthians is a wonderful place to read what God will always do to the “wise”). This will happen again when His 2nd coming is just as literal. Jesus is referring to 70AD up until the Abomination of Desolation - because he is ALSO answering the disciples’ questions about the end of the age and His return. He answers BOTH questions here. And yes it is a pattern. It will happen again but the Abomination is explicit to the end of all things.
