Glad you have discovered Amira! In my opinion Angelina and Amira are on parallel paths. Amira is 2 years older than Angelina but came to the attention of the World in the same way. Amira was 9 years old when she entered Holland’s got Talent, she had taught herself to sing by watching RU-vid, she astounded everyone with her then raw rendition of “O Mio Babbino Caro, she sang “Ave Maria” in the semi final and went on to win with “Nessun Dorma”. There are many of her performances on RU-vid, and like Angelina, you can’t go wrong whatever you choose. Like Angelina, Amira is a warm and generous soul giving half of her earnings to poor children’s causes in South Africa. She has a Dutch father and was born in Holland but now lives in South Africa where her mother was born.
This performance was in Pretoria, South Africa; November 2016. The concert was called "Afrikaans is Groot" and the promoter was Coleske Artists. As you say, it was a large production - Amira's performance was item 25 in a total of 33 items. She had previously performed in the first "Classics is Groot" concert in July of that year, and was so popular as a result that Coleske Artists had to increase the number of performances from 9 to 11 after it was announced that Amira would appear; her parents had to bring a tutor with them from Holland so she could keep up with her schoolwork.
Yeah, I'm impressed...again (I've seen this many times). Actually, I've been impressed since watching her audition on Holland's Got Talent. Like Angelina, Amira has gotten better over the years and she's always been lovable and very giving. She's a beautiful person and a real treasure to have in this world. She is the second of the triple A girls. The third is her friend, Alma Deutscher, British composer, pianist, violinist on a permanent loaner Stradivarius, and now a conductress living in Vienna. She has returned melody to the stage with her CINDERELLA opera.
Amira is a beautiful soul, she taught herself to sing opera while very young. She went on Hollands got talent and sung Puccini's O mio babbino caro. She won the show, aged 9. Her mother was from South Africa, and that's where she lives now. She created a foundation to provide playparks for the poor kids of the country. So far more than 20 have been built. This was the only song she sang at this concert, but she has sung at other shows many times Nella Fantasia was written for the film The Mission by Ennio Morricone. The Italian lyrics speak of dreams for a more harmonious world. Amira is 20 in a weeks time, and studying music at university. Hello. A very nice first reaction ! Amira was born and spent her first years in the Netherlands but her mother comes from South Africa and Amira moved to this country in january 2018. However, before this, she did several great performances in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, and so on. Now she's almost 20 and just started her Bachelor of music studies at University of Pretoria. This song was originally known as "Gabriel's Oboe", the main theme of the 1986 movie The Mission, with Robert de Niro and Jérémy Irons, directed by Roland Joffé. It was written by the great Italian composer Ennio Morricone. A few years later, vocalist Sarah Brightman convinced (not easily !) Morricone to allow her to set lyrics to the theme to create her own song, "Nella Fantasia".. Anyway, this soaring melody suits perfectly Amira's angelic voice. And her breath control at 12 years old was stunning. Maybe you could react to Amira's rendition of Ave Maria by William Gomez in Canisius Church (Nijmegen), when she was 11. It was definitely out of this world, maybe her very best performance...

I presume the implication is that this is the fantasy of the missionary which provokes enormous irony. The “mission” of the missionary is to persuade the indigenous people to abandon their cultural traditions and superstitions in favor of the missionary’s culture and superstitions. Europeans generally regarded indigenous peoples to be “savages” in need of “salvation.” So the fantasy is presumably about a world of European culture and superstition, rather than of any sort of diversity or inclusion.
Very gracious of you to put all the links you can find to an artist you react too. If you are a veteran, Amira has sung several times for veterans. On RU-vid you will find a link to a song she sang as her contribution to an online concert for veterans a few years ago. It's gorgeous The song is ' When You Wish Upon a Star' and Amira gives a beautiful introduction to it. Amira has a deep Christian faith and attributes her voice to God and believes that it was given her to do good in the world with. You will find RU-vid videos of many spiritual songs she has sung. She is a humble and inspiring person and her fans are committed to her foundation Gelukskinders through which she builds playgrounds for children where the there are none in townships near her home in South Africa. She build the first playground aged 10 with the money she earned after winning Holland's Got Talent.. quite a remarkable young person.. with a glorious voice!

She is now about 20 yo and is among the finest lyric sopranos currently performing. She has been favorably compared to Callas, Sutherland, and Tebaldi. I suggest that you react to her other videos. She is able to sing comfortably at the top end of the soprano range and has the unusual ability to evoke in her audience an emotional response.

Amira, following her first performance with them in S. Africa this same year at age 12 became an Intern with the Classics is Groot Orchestra, and it's a premier orchestra in S. Africa. She only sings opera, with few exceptions. She studies and works with them while also attending school. At 20 she is now in University studying performance and other techniques connected with her passion of singing. She has sung all over the world. Being Dutch she speaks 5/6 languages including Afrikaans, in S. Africa, her mother in S. African. They felt the Dutch education system was limiting performance opportunities for Amira.
Since her three performances on Hollands Got Talent she hasn't stopped. Every performance is outstanding and beyond expectation. You should react to all of them. You will be greatly rewarded. Amira did a live broadcast where she sings with her father who plays piano. She dedicates the song to all veterans and speaks to the audience as to her choice of the song. It is "when you wish upon a star". I highly recommend this, it's good treatment for dry eyes.
Once you hear Amira, you have heard an angel sing. Ever since her three performances on Holland Got Talent, I've been hooked. Listen every day and more. Starting a foundation to build playgrounds at age 10 and supporting it with half of her earnings from concerts. She won Holland Got Talent at age 9, she hasn't stopped. Amira will be 20 on March 27. Although operatic arias are her first love, she has a wide repertoire, opera, classic crossover, hymns, musicals, etc. She is fluent in Dutch (her own language), English and Afrikaans, although she sings in around 11 languages. You might like O Mio Babbino Caro, on stage with Andre Rieu, before 12,500 people (age 10); Nessun Dorma (CIG 2017) and the Flower Duet, with Corlea Botha, at the same South African concert; also Amazing Grace. Her Sound of Music Medley, age 15, is impressive, as is Gesu Bambino, in an informal setting in an empty church in the Netherlands, with her father on the organ and a friend using a mobile phone (age 18). There is very much more. There are biographical videos on YT (not all translated) describing her charity foundation (Gelukskinders), supporting needy children in SA, to which she has always donated half her income, and is supported by her fans worldwide. It's pronounced Nella Fan-ta-seeah. The music was written by famous conductor Ennio Moriconne, which was first heard in a flute performance that was in the movie 'The Mission' with Robert DeNiro. Oprah star Sarah Brightman was so impressed by it that she wanted permission to have lyrics made for it, bu Ennio had always refused anyone doing this to his music. Sarah persisted and when many of his close associates told him how huge a star she was, he finally agreed and Nella Fantasia became a lyrical reality. Amira appeared out of the blue in Holand's Got Talent when she was 9 and blew everyone away with her opera singing, winning the contest.

The first 2 minutes is another Ennio Morricone composition called "The River" with the voices of the Mzansi Youth Choir, then Amira comes on stage for Nella Fantasia.
She started having coaching soon after winning the talent show. Sony made an album to release on the back of the win, she had a singing coach in attendance while she made that. If you watch the video Behind the scenes, first album recording, you can see them chatting together. Andre Rieu also gave her coaching before her stunning appearance on his show.
She is now in a music college. Graduated high school as Valedictorian. Would have gone to the Olympics as a winning middle distance runner, except for the plague. That’s where she got her lungs, two years before singing publicly.
