They have drivers for when they need to go places horse and buggy can't reach. A driver brought them to the airport.

Yes... I've met people who have existed in a time when planes don't exist, and I'm not even old. Imagine a scenario where you'd pluck someone from that age, put them in today's world without having experienced the time in between and how much they'd freak out.

I always see one or two people at least freaking out on every flight. And they usually don't look Amish.

The Amish that appear in this show are leaving the Amish life and are completely shunned by their family, friends, town, etc. The whole point is for the people leaving to experience life outside of the Amish culture and either decide to keep living a "regular" life or go back to their town and continue being Amish. The towns they come from are against the tv show and usually refuse to appear aside from those who are leaving

Simple. They are on the road because they dont want to follow the rules to harsh but there family does. They dont need an photo id so why do something like that in advance? They said for armish not for "them"

It's not that they can't have pictures or video taken of them, just that they can't have the pictures or videos because looking at them could start to make them more vain.

Do you mean that these "actors" have specific lines they are all supposed to say? I'm wondering why they would see all that trouble, when real life people with authentic lines and expressions are so much more interesting than what we see in any movies and such. It would be so much effort to hide the fact that they were scripted too, considering how many people take part in these shows. I have understood that some parts of some shitty drama shows are "scripted" so that the people are asked to do certain things, but it's not the norm.

They do re-enactments sometimes, but I don't think it's completely fake. The really emotional stuff is usually happening in the moment. But sometimes what they're upset about has to do with producers and filming and that kind of thing, but they cut those details out.

Young people are allowed to leave for a while and indulge in whatever they want. It's part of the decision making process in determining if the Amish lifestyle is right for them. Somewhere along the way the elders decided it was necessary.

Glasses have been around since the time period they decided to freeze in time as their lifestyle. I find it weird that their religion means you have to be frozen in a PARTICULAR time period - the 1800s in America or Germany. What's so holy about a time period? Why not pick Biblical times and only use tools they had during Jesus' time - same farming methods etc. I didn't know Amish people said "Oh my God", either.

@@frankG335 I know, but you have to get a prescription for them. I’ve also been watching, “Cults to Consciousness” and they delve deep into the really hard core Amish. They also spotlight LDS and Scientology. It’s super interesting.

@@freemagicfun Because she already has an ID that the government accepts. Hypothetical: If i have a driver's license that all the car rentals, the police e.g accept, why would i pay for another one ? I dont know if you have to pay for an ID in the US but i would guess so, and even if it is free you still have to spent your time to apply for it. I would also bet that they highlighted that issue to teach people that the amish get certain freedoms that normal americans dont have.

It might seem simple to those of us graced with technology our entire lives, but for those who’ve lived without it how else can you expect them to know?

But the right way to go about this is to instead learn to hear the quiet voice of God, the Holy Spirit, which takes time and maturity. Then you let the Holy Spirit lead you to speak only when you are led by the Holy Spirit. Just blasting this stuff out doesn't do anything but irritate people. Please mature and seek wisdom and learn the whispered voice of the Holy Spirit, which comes from a very quiet place- and does not seek publicity, points, and is done privately. Jesus said not to even pray in public to be seen by people. Read the actual words of Jesus Himself, not the distractions of Paul's letters, which were never meant to be seen as scripture. Learn directly from the words of Jesus and try to just follow those and allow all the other trappings of religionism to fall away.. You'll find that it's completely different from the in., nationalistic, self righteous culture you've been raised in. Above all, seek wisdom. That takes time. God is not in a hurry. Don't get your beliefs from pastors, who try to talk about things they don't understand (like science and politics). Get it from Jesus actual words and deeds. Get a good NSAB study Bible so you can cross reference the prophecies he refers to. YOU need to get serious about this before you blast this unthoughtful stuff all over the internet.
