Amplitude modulation (AM) is used to send data by modulating the amplitude of a higher frequency carrier wave.
This modulated carrier wave can be demodulated and filtered to return a signal that is close to the original input signal.
AM allows for multiple streams of data to share the same medium of transport, whether this is wired or wireless.
